March Madness: Texas A&M vs. Houston odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Texas A&M vs. Houston odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The 9th-seeded Texas A&M Aggies (21-14) face the top-seeded Houston Cougars (31-4) Friday in a 2nd-round game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip from FedExForum in Memphis is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Houston odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Texas A&M put on an offensive show in its 98-83 victory over the 9-seed Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday in the 1st round, covering the 2.5-point spread as the Over (136) easily cashed. Three A&M starters topped 20 points, led by G Wade Taylor IV‘s 25 points and a double-double from G Tyrece Radford (20 points and 10 rebounds). Texas A&M has won and covered the spread in 6 of its last 7 games.

No. 1 Houston handled its business on Friday, destroying the Longwood Lancers 86-46 to easily cover the 24-point spread as the Over (129.5) cashed. The Cougars did what they do best, play suffocating defense, and they forced 18 Longwood turnovers. You fully expected Houston to come out and perform like after their embarrassing 69-41 loss in the Big 12 title game to Iowa State.

Houston is No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Texas A&M vs. Houston picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 81, Texas A&M 65

Moneyline

PASS.

You should obviously avoid betting Houston (-550) as these odds are too high. That’s just not smart sports betting. Back the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET HOUSTON -9.5 (-120).

I’m obviously not alone on this, but I’ve got Houston winning the tournament in my bracket. I love this team because not only do they play the best defense of any team in the country, but they have senior leadership in the backcourt running the show. Guard play could not be more important in the Big Dance and they’ve got the best combo in the country. The Cougars have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5.

I know Texas A&M is playing great ball, but Houston can lock down the Aggies leading scorer (Taylor 19.0 PPG) and force them to look elsewhere for answers on offense.

Over/Under

AVOID.

I have never trusted betting totals when it comes to the Cougars. They play great defense which can be deceiving when it comes to the O/U. Oddsmakers are tempting you to take the Under putting it a bit higher than usual, and I’m not going to buy into it. I’d rather just avoid it and keep my bet to the spread.

March Madness: Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies (20-14) face off against the 8th-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers (23-10) Friday in a 1st-round game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip from FedExForum in Memphis is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Before losing in the Southeastern Conference Tournament title game to the Florida Gators 95-90, the Aggies were running as hot as anyone in the country. They failed to cover the spread as a 2.5-point underdog but the Over (153) cashed. Texas A&M is led by the 1st-team All SEC player G Wade Taylor IV, who averaged 18.9 points, 4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Aggies were 16-18 against the spread (ATS) for the season, and just 5-5 ATS over their last 10 regular-season games — they went 2-1 ATS in the conference tourney.

The Cornhuskers impressive run through the Big Ten Tournament ended in the title game against the Illinois Fighting Illini. They lost 98-87 and did not cover as a 4.5-point underdog, but the Over (154.5) cashed. Nebraska brings a lot of offensive firepower to the court with 4 players averaging double-figures in points and they shoot over 45% from the field as a team. Nebraska finished 21-12 ATS, including 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games.

Texas A&M vs. Nebraska picks and predictions

Prediction

Nebraska 81, Texas A&M 76

Moneyline

PASS.

We’ve got an odds play but I’m going to stay away from the moneyline and look to the spread for this bet. You are giving less than 2 points with Nebraska and you are getting less juice. When you’ve got a line that big, it’s basically a pick’em, so I’ll take the better odds.

Against the spread

BET NEBRASKA -2.5 (-108).

This is a very even matchup between 2 teams that both got hot during their conference tournament, but just missed getting the job done. The reason I am siding with the Cornhuskers is because I believe they are more balanced on offense. The points can come from 4 different starters while if you take Taylor out of the game the Aggies struggle to put the ball in the basket.

The Cornhuskers were also a covering machine this season, 21-12 ATS on the season while the Aggies were just 16-18.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

BET OVER 146.5 (-115).

I think this line is too low for this matchup, a great chance to get an easy winner on Friday.

The Cornhuskers can shoot the rock and that was on full display during the Big Ten Tournament. They scored 85 points or more in all 3 games in Minneapolis. The Aggies are no slouch either, they put up 75 or more over their last 5 games.

If you combine these 2 teams, they were 43-24 against the Over for the season. Texas A&M has cleared the Over in 5 straight games and Nebraska has in 4 of their last 5.

SEC Tournament: Texas A&M vs. Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas A&M vs. Florida odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas A&M Aggies (20-13) and Florida Gators (23-10) meet in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament Saturday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Florida odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The 7th-seeded Aggies upset 2nd-seeded Kentucky in the quarterfinals Friday, winning 97-87 as 5.5-point underdogs as the Over (160) cashed. Texas A&M also topped Ole Miss, and it has won and covered 5 straight games with the Over connecting in 4 in a row.

The 6th-seeded Gators surprised Alabama Friday, winning 102-88 as 5-point underdogs as the Over (175) cashed. Florida is 5-3 straight up (SU) in the past 8 games, but it is just 2-5 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 7 outings. The Over has cashed in 6 straight and 8 of the past 9 contests.

Texas A&M topped Florida 67-66 in the only regular-season meeting, with the Gators cashing as 4-point underdogs in College Station Feb. 3 as the Under (151.5) cashed. The Aggies have won 5 straight in the series while covering 3 of those outings. The Under has cashed in 3 straight meetings while going 4-1 in the previous 5 in the series dating back to Feb. 15, 2022.

Texas A&M vs. Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 82, Texas A&M 80

Moneyline

Florida (-160) will cost you almost 2 times your potential return, and that’s a little too much risk for not enough reward.

Texas A&M (+135) has been hot in this tournament, and it has racked up 5 huge wins in a row to strengthen its resume for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. It won’t go quietly, though, despite feeling much better after an upset of Kentucky.

PASS.

Against the spread

TEXAS A&M +2.5 (+100) is a strong play.

This is going to be a tussle, and the Aggies are playing with a lot of confidence after upending the 2nd-seeded Wildcats. Texas A&M has covered 5 in a row, and it’s worth playing as the underdog.

Florida -2.5 (-110) has won just 5 of the past 8 games while going 2-5 ATS in the past 7 outings.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 151.5 (110) is a strong play in this SEC semifinals matchup.

The Over is on a 6-0 run for Florida, as it is filling up the basket with a lot of ease lately. In fact, the Gators have hit triple digits in 2 of the past 4 games, and neither of those games went to overtime. The Gators are good for 81 or more points in 10 of the past 14 outings.

The Aggies aren’t usually known for their offense, but they dropped 97 on Kentucky Friday, and Texas A&M has scored 85 or more points in 4 straight outings, cashing the Over in each game.

Texas A&M at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas A&M at Tennessee odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas A&M Aggies (4-2, 2-1 SEC) pay a visit to the No. 17 ranked Tennessee Volunteers (4-1, 1-1) on Saturday. Kickoff from Neyland Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M at Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Aggies lost 26-20 last Saturday to the Alabama Crimson Tide, failing to cover as a 2.5-point underdog. The Aggies were never able to get the ground game going as they rushed for only 67 yards on 35 carries (1.9 yards per carry). Texas A&M’s defense also struggled to contain Alabama’s passing game as it allowed 321 passing yards.

Tennessee, which was off last week, has won each of its last 2 games since losing to Florida in Week 3. RB Jaylen Wright is the head of this Volunteers rushing attack that has totaled 1,156 yards and 13 TDs in 5 games. Wright leads the teams with 435 rushing yards and an average of 7.1 yards per carry.

Tennessee is No. 17 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas A&M at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 29, Texas A&M 27

Moneyline

BET TENNESSEE (-155).

I like the Volunteers to pick up the win here as they have been dominant in their 4 home games this year and have a better offense than the Aggies. These are 2 very similar teams and I expect this to be a 1-score game, but the Volunteers’ run game will prove to be pivotal down the stretch in keeping the ball out of the Aggies’ hands.

Against the spread

LEAN TEXAS A&M +3 (-110).

The Aggies have proven that they can be competitive against tough competition, and I expect that to continue to show here. The Volunteers will have trouble containing the talented WR duo of Evan Stewart and Ainias Smith. The Volunteers will also likely struggle to contain the RB duo of Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels, who both average more than 5 yards per carry.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 55.5 (-110).

Texas A&M has a very solid defense that only allows 268.8 yards per game, but these offenses will be the stars of the show in this game. The Aggies average 420.5 yards per game on the offensive side of the ball with 275.7 of those coming through the air. The Volunteers are even better and more balanced on offense, averaging 466.2 yards per game with 235 coming through the air and 231.2 on the ground. Look for both teams to have trouble stopping one another.

Alabama at Texas A&M odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Alabama at Texas A&M odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, 2-0 SEC) and Texas A&M Aggies (4-1, 2-0) tussle in a Saturday SEC West affair in College Station, Texas. Kickoff from Kyle Field is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Alabama vs. Texas A&M odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Crimson Tide defeated Mississippi State 40-17 last week, covering as 16.5-point favorites. Alabama was a plus-1 in turnover margin heading into the game at MSU; the Tide were plus-3 against the Bulldogs.

The Aggies won at Arkansas last Saturday, outscoring the Razorbacks 34-22 and covering as 6.5-point favorites. A&M held Arkansas to just 42 rushing yards on 39 carries. The Aggies rank 5th in the nation in total defense (253.8 yards per game) and 21st in rushing defense (96.2 YPG).

The Crimson Tide are ranked No. 10 by the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Alabama at Texas A&M picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 27, Alabama 20

Moneyline

This contest features a 2nd-division Alabama offense (88th in total offense at 363.2 YPG) taking on a Texas A&M defense ranked 5th in the nation, allowing just 253.8 YPG. The Tide like to run the ball, and the Aggies have held opposing ball carriers to just 2.9 YPC.

Look for the home side to be able to force UA into plenty of passing-down situations, and that’s where the green check marks pop up for the Aggies. Alabama has allowed more havoc plays than A&M and the Aggies have been much the better team in creating run stuffs, sacks, pass break-ups and turnovers on the defensive side.

Figure Texas A&M forcing more than a couple of punts and the Aggies winning outright due to a big effort in the trenches.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers the best price here: BACK THE AGGIES (+104).

Against the spread

The Aggies are 4-2 ATS over the last half-dozen series meetings (2017-22), but we’re not buying the point here.

Over/Under

The projected game flow and pace put this game in the mid-to-high 40s, so there is no room to operate here.

Texas A&M at Arkansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas A&M at Arkansas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Texas A&M Aggies (3-1, 1-0 SEC) battle the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-2, 0-1) at AT&T Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Arkansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

While Arkansas is technically the home side, the game is on a neutral field in Arlington, Texas. AT&T Stadium is the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Neither team has won on the road, Texas A&M losing to Miami and Arkansas losing to LSU.

The Razorbacks lost to LSU 34-31 on the road in Week 4, but they did cover as an 18-point favorite as the Over 55 hit. Arkansas is 2-2 against the spread (ATS) and 3-1 O/U this season. QB K.J. Jefferson leads the offense and has 918 passing yards and 9 TDs in 4 games.

Texas A&M beat Auburn at home in Week 4, defeating the Tigers 27-10 and covering as a 10-point favorite. It is 3-1 ATS on the season and 2-2 O/U. QB Conner Weigman leads the team with 979 passing yards and 8 TDs while 3 Aggies have totaled more than 100 rushing yards as well.

Texas A&M at Arkansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 34, Arkansas 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Arkansas has a strong offense and should be able to hang with Texas A&M, but it has struggled heavily of late, allowing 34 points to LSU and 38 points to BYU. The defense may not be able to hold up enough to pull off the upset. While the +195 is enticing, ultimately, avoid the moneyline play. Texas A&M at -250 is far too pricey to play outright.

Against the spread

LEAN ARKANSAS +6.5 (-105).

The Texas A&M defense played well against the Tigers in Week 4, giving up just 10 points. But, Jefferson and company should pose a threat more like Miami in which the Aggies gave up 48 on the road.

Jefferson will be the most dynamic player in this game and has a 70.4% completion rate vs.Weigman’s 68.9%. The Razorbacks’ dual-threat star should be good enough to thrash the Aggies’ defense and keep the game close.

Texas A&M was 3-4-1 ATS in conference games last season and 1-3 ATS on the road while Arkansas was 4-4 ATS in conference games and 2-2 ATS on the road. Back Jefferson and take ARKANSAS +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 53.5 (-110).

Capable, confident quarterbacks against defense that have struggled against quality opponents this season lend credence to the Over. A&M gave up 48 to Miami. While it has allowed 10 or fewer in its 3 other games, Jefferson should pose a threat that is difficult to fully contain.

Arkansas has scored 30-plus points in 3 of 4 games as well, scoring 31 in each of its last 2. It has allowed 36 points per game over its last 2, the Razorbacks’ lone matchups against notable opponents, which A&M is.

Given the quarterback play and struggling defense, take OVER 53.5 (-110).

The Texas A&M Aggies (1-0) and Miami Hurricanes (1-0) meet Saturday afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Miami odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Texas A&M began its season with a comfortable 52-10 victory against New Mexico as a -38.0 favorite. The Aggies went 5-7 last season with 1 of those wins a 17-9 victory in Week 3 over the Hurricanes at Kyle Field in College Station. They then lost 6 of their next 7 games.

The Hurricanes got the ball rolling on their 2023 season with an impressive 38-3 rout of Miami of Ohio, easily covering as a 16.5 point favorite. The Hurricanes also had an underwhelming 2022 season, finishing 5-7.

This will be the 5th all-time meeting between the schools since 1944. Each team has won twice.

Texas A&M is No. 23 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Texas A&M at Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Miami 20, Texas A&M 17

Moneyline

The matchup between these 2 schools last year was a defensive struggle and with Miami’s strong defensive front, look for more of the same this time around. The Hurricanes failed to get in the end zone in their last meeting, but with a matured QB Tyler Van Dyke, look for The U to try to control the clock and keep their defensive front as fresh as possible throughout.

With the hype surrounding both teams coming into this game, a tight, competitive game is likely. There’s good value with The Canes as +150 underdogs, but QB Conner Weigman very well might be the answer for the Aggies.

AVOID at the current line.

Against the spread

For some of the same reasons above, Miami has a good shot at keeping this game within striking distance led by their pass rush. Look for DL Jahfari Harvey and preseason All American DB Kamren Kinchens to keep Weigman uncomfortable in the backfield.

TAKE MIAMI + 4 (-110) to the bank and cash it in now.

Over/Under

Both teams are going to lean on the run game. There was only a combined 26 points scored in last year’s game. Look for more of the same, regardless of who comes out victorious.

LEAN UNDER 51 (-110)

Penn State vs. Texas A&M picks and predictions

Prediction

Penn State 70, Texas A&M 69

Moneyline

BET PENN STATE +125.

The Nittany Lions are hot after a solid Big Ten Tournament performance, knocking off Illinois, Northwestern, and Indiana and coming within 1 possession of beating 1-seed Purdue. In each of the games, they were the underdog and managed to stick around until the end.

Penn State is 5-3 in neutral site games this season and an impressive 7-1 ATS in those games. They will have their work cut out for them against the Aggies, but they rank 13th in the nation in 3-point percentage (38.52%) so a few outside shots can keep them hanging around just long enough to get the upset.

Against the spread

PASS.

The moneyline is a more profitable play on Penn State in this matchup.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 134.5 (-110).

As it stands, 134.5 would be the 3rd-lowest closing line in the Aggies’ last 10 games and in that span, the Under is 7-3.  The Under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games following an outright loss.

Defense is each teams strong point which will put points at a premium.

SEC Tournament: Texas A&M vs. Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Texas A&M vs. Alabama SEC Tournament odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 18 Texas A&M Aggies (25-8) look to repeat the final game of the regular season with a victory over the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide (28-5) in SEC Tournament Championship in Nashville Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Alabama  odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Alabama has been one of the most consistent teams all season and is a  likely No. 1 seed when the brackets are announced Sunday night. Alabama has won its 1st 2 conference tournament games by a combined 34 points as the defense held Missouri 19 points below its season average and allowed  Mississippi State to score just 49 points.

Brandon Miller continues to thrive for the Tide and the SEC player of the year and potential national player of the year, has shown why he was a coveted 5-star prospect in the Class of 2023.

Texas A&M will need to rely on its defense, which has served it well in the tournament thus far holding Arkansas to 61 points, although the offense stepped up against Vanderbilt in the semifinals by putting up 87 points in a 12-point win.

Texas A&M vs. Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 72, Texas A&M 65

Moneyline

PASS.

Although the Aggies won the final game of the regualar season over Alabama 67-61, this game will be different. This game is not in College Station. And this game means a lot more to Alabama than that game did.

Alabama is favored for a reason, but -210 is too much to wager on any straight bet. It is a wonderful addition to a parlay, but it is not worth a wager otherwise.

Against the spread

ALABAMA -4.5 (-115).

The Crimson Tide have been on a mission through the SEC Tournament,  defeating Mississippi State 72-49 and Missouri 72-61. Miller scored 21 in the semifinal win and became the top freshman scorer in Alabama history in the process.

The 4.5 points does not feel like enough the way Alabama is playing. Alabama is the correct side up to 6.5 and the 2 points of perceived value makes it an even stronger play.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

UNDER 145.5 (-115).

With Alabama ranked 7th at 82.8 points per game, you would think the Over is the play. But the defense of Alabama has come up strong late and despite the high-octane offense, only 15 of Alabama’s games have gone Over the total this season.

Texas A&M also plays a ball-control game, and it will take the air out of the ball Sunday to avoid being run out of the gym by the more athletic Crimson Tide. Coach Buzz Williams has done a great job this season in adapting to the opponent. This has gotten the Aggies to a 25-8 record and to this game. He will try the same approach  this Sunday to the one that  workedlast Sundayin 6-point win over Alabama. Although the result might be different here, the score should be close and this means Under 145.5 is the wager.
