Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (17-11) and Philadelphia Phillies (13-15) open a four-game Citizens Bank Park series Monday at 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Phillies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Adrian Houser is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. Through 5 starts, Houser is 2-2 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 24 2/3 IP. He’s a fastball and ground-ball pitcher; the Phillies have struggled against both.

RHP Vince Velasquez is the projected starter for the Phillies. He is 0-0 with a 6.57 ERA, 1.95 WHIP, 13.1 K/9 and 8.0 BB/9 in 12 1/3 IP over 2 starts and 3 relief stints. Velasquez has been undone by 4 home runs; he has allowed 2 in each of his last two starts. In just 22 plate appearances, current Milwaukee bats have 2 HR (and a 1.591 OPS) against him.

Brewers at Phillies odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Brewers -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Phillies -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers -1.5 (+150) | Phillies +1.5 (-185)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Phillies 5, Brewers 4,

Money line (ML)

Milwaukee has played well on the road (9-3), and it was a road trip to San Diego and Chicago that jumpstarted a stretch that has seen the Brewers go 9-4 since April 19. It has mostly been Milwaukee pitching coming through over that time; the Brewers have averaged 3.6 runs per game since that same April date.

Over that same span, the Phillies have gone 5-8. They enter this series having lost three of their last four games. Pitching has been an issue of late: Philadelphia owns a 5.28 ERA since April 20.

But Milwaukee’s 4.0 RPG and 4.1 RPG allowed don’t match with a team seven games over .500. The Brewers have gone 5-2 in one-run games, and that has helped. They are much better against lefty pitching, and while they do have the better starter going, Philly likely has the better bullpen (despite some recent surface ERA inflation).

TAKE THE PHIILIES -115.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Phillies have tended to play in a lot of one-run tilts. They are 6-6 in such games. But the price here offers no value. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

Citizens is a hitter’s ballpark, and the Monday weather calls for a breeze out to left field. Still, the Philly bullpen is likely being overlooked on the Philadelphia-runs-allowed side of the ledger. An Over 8 (-110) tag would make for some value, but that line doesn’t seem likely. PASS, but keep an eye on the line.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (16-12) and Milwaukee Brewers (17-10) play the finale of a four-game set Sunday. The first pitch is set for 2:10 p.m. ET at American Family Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Dodgers vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Julio Urias is the projected starting pitcher for the Dodgers. He is 3-0 with a 3.23 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9 over 30 2/3 IP through five starts.

Urias will be making his third road start of the season. He allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk with a career-high 11 strikeouts over 7 scoreless innings in a win at the Seattle Mariners April 20, and he allowed just 1 run, 3 hits and a walk over 7 innings in a win at the Colorado Rockies April 4.

RHP Alec Bettinger is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers in his major league debut. He was 5-7 with a 3.44 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 over 146 1/3 innings across 26 starts for Class AA Biloxi in 2019. He worked at the team’s alternate training site in 2020.

Dodgers at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Dodgers -185 (bet $185 to win $100) | Brewers +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Dodgers -1.5 (-110) | Brewers +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Dodgers 5, Brewers 2

Money line (ML)

The DODGERS (-185) will be looking to avoid the four-game sweep, and they’re in good shape with Urias on the bump against a kid making his MLB debut.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The DODGERS -1.5 (-110) are worth playing behind the southpaw Urias. The offense showed some signs of life with 5 runs in an extra-innings loss Saturday after being held to one run in each of the first two games in the series.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 8.5 (-115) is the lean, as the Brewers aren’t likely to pile up much offense against Urias. The Dodgers could potentially take care of the Over all on their own if Bettinger gets tuned up, but L.A. has scored 7 total runs in the first three games.

Keep hitting the Under until the Dodgers offense gets hot again.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (16-9) and Milwaukee Brewers (14-10) open a four-game series Thursday at American Family Field as the two clubs meet for the first time in 2021. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Dodgers vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Wednesday: The Dodgers avoided a 3-game sweep with an 8-0 victory vs. the visiting Cincinnati Reds. The Brewers lost the rubber match of a 3-game home set to the Miami Marlins 6-2.

2020 playoffs: Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in a best-of-3 NL Wild Card Series.

RHP Trevor Bauer is the Dodgers’ Thursday projected starter. The 2020 NL Cy Young winner is 3-0 with a 2.53 ERA (32 IP, 9 ER), 0.66 WHIP, 12.7 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9 in 5 starts.

  • Last outing: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 9 K in 5-4 home decision vs. San Diego Padres Saturday
  • Career vs. Brewers: 2-1, 2.66 ERA (20 1/3 IP, 6 ER), 0.89 WHIP, 14.2 K/9 in 3 starts last season with Cincinnati

LHP Eric Lauer is penciled in to make his season debut for Milwaukee. He was 0-2 with a 13.09 ERA (11 IP, 16 ER), 2.36 WHIP, 9.8 K/9 and 7.4 BB/9 in 2 starts and 2 relief appearances last year.

  • Career as a starter: 14-19, 4.75 ERA (267 IP, 141 ER), 1.49 WHIP, 8.1 K/9, 3.4 BB/9 in 54 starts with San Diego
  • Career vs. Dodgers: 5-0, 2.11 ERA (42 2/3 IP, 10 ER), 1.03 WHIP, 9.1 K/9 in 7 starts

Dodgers at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Dodgers -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Brewers +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Dodgers -1.5 (-115) | Brewers +1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Dodgers 6, Brewers 2

Money line (ML)

The DODGERS (-200) have been steamed up from (-155), but they are still worth a one-unit play.

Lauer might be 5-0 in his career vs. the Dodgers, but he hasn’t faced them since 2019 and is coming off a shoulder injury. The southpaw, a first-round pick (25th overall) by the Padres in 2016, only pitched in four games for the Brewers last year because of the injury and a COVID-19 contact-tracing situation.

He failed to make Milwaukee’s roster out of camp this spring after an ineffective performance – 14.40 ERA (5 IP, 8 ER) in 3 outings.

Meanwhile, Bauer is last season’s NL Cy Young Award winner and is one of the top pitchers in the game.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Los Angeles -1.5 (-115) weren’t a bad play when they were at plus-money earlier in the day, but I’m going to PASS and focus on the straight-up ML win. Plus, the Dodgers are actually under .500 ATS this season.

ATS records: Dodgers 12-13 | Brewers 13-11

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the OVER 7.5 (-105) to WIN A QUARTER UNIT. Don’t worry that the Dodgers are 2-3 O-U in Bauer’s starts. All five of his outings have seen at least 7 combined runs – with three games landing exactly on 7.

The OVER gets a slight edge because of Lauer and Milwaukee’s bullpen, which ranks 12th in the NL with a 4.57 ERA.

O/U records: Dodgers 12-13 | Brewers 10-12-2

Miami Marlins at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Miami Marlins at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Miami Marlins (9-12) and Milwaukee Brewers (13-8) meet at American Family Field to open a three-game series Monday at 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Marlins vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Trevor Rogers is the projected starting pitcher for the Marlins. He is 2-1 with a 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12.7 K/9, and 4.1 BB/9 in 22 IP over 4 starts. Rogers is coming off a superb outing against the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday (7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K).

RHP Corbin Burnes is the projected starter for the Brewers. He is 2-1 with a 0.37 ERA, 0.33 WHIP, 14.8 K/9, and 0.0 BB/9 in 24 1/3 IP over 4 starts. Burnes has been ultra-consistent, pitching 6 or 6/13 IP each start, striking out between 9-11, and walking none. He has benefited from a .171 batting average on balls in play and a 100% left-on-base rate, but the Milwaukee right-hander has exhibited a significant uptick in velocity and has produced a tremendous 19.6% swinging-strike rate through four turns.

Marlins at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 6:05 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Marlins +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Brewers -185 (bet $185 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Marlins +1.5 (-145) | Brewers -1.5 (+120)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Marlins 4, Brewers 3

Money line (ML)

Milwaukee closed out a six-game road trip with a 6-0 win at Wrigley Field Sunday. The Brewers won five of those six games and head into this week in first place in the NL Central. Miami dropped its series finale at the San Francisco Giants Sunday and is just 2-5 over its last 7 games.

The Fish don’t settle into an easy travel slot here, but Rogers gives them more than just a puncher’s chance. Miami has the better bullpen and it’s one with the best arms better rested.

BACK THE MARLINS (+150).

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Miami is a fair play at the current run-line tag. Consider the MARLINS +1.5 (-145) as a decent value, especially with such a low run total.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean into some gravity on this play and BACK THE OVER 6 (-120). Neither offense is off to a great start and if the retractable roof is open for this one, the pitching stands to benefit from an inward breeze. But the starters’ surface numbers appear to be weighed too heavily here.

Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (10-7) and San Diego Padres (10-9) play the finale of a three-game set Wednesday at 4:10 p.m. ET at Petco Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Padres odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Adrian Houser is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 1-2 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 6.3 K/9 and 4.4 BB/9 over 14 1/3 IP through three starts. Houser is 0-2 with a 4.82 ERA in two starts on the road, and he allowed one unearned run with six hits, four walks and three strikeouts over five innings in a win April 10 in his only road start in St. Louis.

RHP Dinelson Lamet is the projected starting pitcher for the Padres. He was 3-1 with a 2.09 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 12.1 K/9 and 2.6 BB/9 through 69 IP spanning 12 starts. Lamet will make his 2021 season debut after making his way back from an ulnar collateral ligament strain in his right elbow. He will be limited to 75-80 pitches.

  • Over/Under: 7 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Brewers 6, Padres 4

Money line (ML)

The BREWERS (+180) are worth playing as moderate underdogs as they look for the sweep. They have outscored the Padres (-225) by a 9-1 score through the first two outings. I like Milwaukee going up against Lamet, who could be a little rusty in his first start while working on a pitch count.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BREWERS +1.5 (-110) are a decent play if you’re not feeling Milwaukee straight up. In three of Milwaukee’s past four losses they have been within one run.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 7 (-120) is the lean here after the Under hit in the first two in this series. The Over is 2-1 in Houser’s three starts to date with the opposition averaging 6.3 runs per game in those games. Look for the offenses to come alive a little in this series finale.

Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (9-7) and San Diego Padres (10-8) play the second outing of a three-game set Tuesday at 10:10 p.m. ET at Petco Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Padres odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Corbin Burnes is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 1-1 with a 0.49 ERA, 0.22 WHIP, 14.7 K/9 and 0.0 BB/9 over 18 1/3 IP through three starts. Burnes hasn’t walked a batter yet this season, and he has nearly been untouchable allowing just one earned run, one walk and four hits.

RHP Chris Paddack is the projected starting pitcher for the Padres. He is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 through 13 IP spanning three starts. Paddack is coming off his best start, allowing three runs – one earned – and two walks with four strikeouts over a season-high five innings in a win at Pittsburgh Thursday. He hasn’t allowed a home run this season.

  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers +1.5 (-200) | Padres -1.5 (+170)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Brewers 4, Padres 1

Money line (ML)

The BREWERS (+100) are a great play at even money, as Burnes has been nearly untouchable this season. He has allowed one run, and he is barely allowing any hits or base runners, either.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Brewers +1.5 (-200) are a risky business, costing you two times your potential return. AVOID and just look to Milwaukee at even-money on the money line instead. It’s a much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6.5 (-110) is the lean, but play it very lightly with a quarter unit wager. The Under cashed in the opener with the same exact total of 6.5. The Under is 4-1-2 across the past seven for Milwaukee.

For San Diego, the Under has connected in each of the past three, while going 9-1 in their past 10 games at Petco.

Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (8-7) and San Diego Padres (10-7) get going with the first part of a three-game Petco Park series Monday. First pitch will be at 10:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Padres odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Brandon Woodruff is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 0-0 with a 2.12 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 10.1 K/9, and 1.6 BB/9 in 17 IP over 3 starts this season. Woodruff was shaky in his season debut but has since allowed just 1 ER over 13 IP.

RHP Joe Musgrove is the projected starter for the Padres. Through 3 starts, Musgrove is 2-1 with a 0.47 ERA, 0.47 WHIP, 11.4 K/9, and 0.9 BB/9 through 19 IP. Monday’s turn at Petco marks Musgrove’s first home start since he tossed the first no-hitter in franchise history at the Texas Rangers April 9.

Brewers at Padres odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 1:55 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Brewers +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Padres -155 (bet $155 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers +1.5 (-165) | Padres -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Brewers 5, Padres 4

Money line (ML)

The Padres are coming off an emotional, high-leverage series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Friars dropped two of three games, and they head into this series as losers of four of their last six.

The Brewers were solid in their first road trip of the year and were a decent nine away from home last summer. Woodruff has been a terrific pitcher on the road with a 3.29 ERA on a .604 OPS allowed for his career, and is a likable play with this much of an underdog tilt.

BACK THE BREWERS (+125).

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Padres have the much better bullpen and it’d be nice to have some cushion on the Milwaukee side but STEER CLEAR of any tag pricier than -150.

Over/Under (O/U)

TAG THE OVER 6.5 (-115) AS A LEAN. Both offenses are a bit undercooked with their early-season numbers, and the pitching numbers for both teams are slightly strength-of-schedule suppressed.

Analyzing Saturday’s Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Pirates (6-8) and Milwaukee Brewers (7-6) continue their weekend series Saturday with a 7:10 p.m. ET tilt at American Family Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Pirates vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Trevor Cahill is the projected starting pitcher for the Pirates. Over 13 games the last two years (2020-21), Cahill is 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 in 34 IP. The right-hander held a hot-hitting San Diego Padres club to 1 run with 8 K’s in 5 IP on Monday.

LHP Brett Anderson is the projected starter for the Brewers. Over 12 starts the last two years, Anderson is 5-5 with a 4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 5.8 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 in 57 IP. He has allowed 5 ER over 10 IP this season.

Pirates at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pirates +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Brewers -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pirates +1.5 (-165) | Brewers -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Brewers 5, Pirates 4

Money line (ML)

The Pirates won Friday’s series opener, 6-1. They are 5-2 over their last 7 games. Milwaukee is 6-3 over its last 9 contests.

Pittsburgh struggled mightily on the road in 2020. The Bucs went 6-22 (.214) with a league-worst .607 OPS at the plate.

With an all-too-early look at Milwaukee’s record vs. their Pythagorean mark (a measure of expected record based on runs and runs allowed), the Brewers are off a tick. The Milwaukee offense figures to have more in the tank; it has been somewhat undone by a .257 batting average on balls in play. The Pittsburgh offense owns a .409 BABIP in high-leverage situations, so the Pirates figure to be out a bit too far over their skis.

BACK MILWAUKEE -135.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the run line: not enough confidence in the Brewers pitching to swing enough probability for a multi-run victory

Over/Under (O/U)

Through two starts, Cahill has exhibited a downshift in velocity and an uptick in hard contact allowed. Anderson’s velocity is also down a tick, and the left-hander has notched a mere 2.9% swinging-strike rate over his first two starts.

Add some upside metrics for the home side in a home-run favoring ballpark, and BACK THE OVER 8 (-120).

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago Cubs (5-6) and Milwaukee Brewers (6-5) put a lid on their NL Central series at American Family Field Wednesday at 1:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Jake Arrieta is the projected starting pitcher for the Cubs. In 11 starts over the last two seasons (2020-21), Arrieta is 6-4 with a 4.47 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 6.6 K/9, and 3.2 BB/9 in 56 1/3 IP. The veteran right-hander has a history of fast starts: he owns a .650 OPS-against in 42 career March/April starts. He also has a fine history in Milwaukee’s home park (.578 OPSA in seven starts).

RHP Corbin Burnes draws the home start for the Brewers. Over 14 games the last two seasons, Burnes is 4-2 with a 1.87 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 13.5 K/9, and 3.0 BB/9 in 72 IP. He has only allowed 1 ER on two hits through 12 1/3 IP in two turns this season. Over those two starts, Burnes fanned 20 batters without issuing a walk.

Cubs at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cubs +145 (bet $100 to win $145) | Brewers -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cubs +1.5 (-135) | Brewers -1.5 (+110)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cubs 3

Money line (ML)

The Chicago offense typically is not at its best against right-handed pitchers and thus far in 2021, that certainly holds true for the Cubs. They are 2-6 against right-handed starters.

The Cubs won Tuesday’s contest, 3-2, but are still too far off their game offensively with just 2.90 runs per game (30th in MLB) to make them an attractive side. Arrieta does not have a good line against current Brewers hitters (high-contact .801 OPS allowed), and his surface stats through two starts are generous compared to the dangerous contact he has yielded. He’s a fly-ball pitcher living dangerously. And in this get-away matinee contest, he’s backed by the more taxed bullpen.

Milwaukee is the lean. The price on the ML is too rich, though.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

It’s no slam dunk against a Cubs team plating a bunch of low-scoring games thus far, but the run-line price on Milwaukee is workable in what figures as an Over lean on the total. BACK THE BREWERS -1.5 (+110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Peg both offenses as being snake bitten by low batting averages on balls in play. Add in the fade lean on Arrieta and TAKE THE OVER 7.5 (-115).

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago Cubs (4-5) and Milwaukee Brewers (5-4) open a three-game series at American Family Field Monday at 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Adbert Alzolay is the projected starting pitcher for the Cubs. In seven appearances last season and this April, Alzolay is 1-2 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 11.3 K/9 and 5.1 BB/9 over 26 1/3 IP. He faced these Brewers Tuesday and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks over 5 innings in a loss.

RHP Freddy Peralta draws the home start for the Brewers. Over two starts and 15 relief appearances the last two seasons, Peralta is 4-1 with a 3.22 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 15.1 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 over 36 1/3 IP. Tuesday, he pitched 5 scoreless frames against Chicago. Current Cubs batters own a strikeout-laden .499 OPS against Peralta.

Cubs at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cubs +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Brewers -130 (bet $130 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cubs +1.5 (-175) | Brewers -1.5 (+145)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cubs 4

Money line (ML)

The Milwaukee offense typically is not at its best against right-handed pitchers. Thus far in 2021, that certainly holds true for Chicago, as the Cubs are 1-5 against right-handed starters.

The earlier matchup swings favor to the Brewers, and the Cubs just come in too far off their game offensively with just 2.89 runs per game to make them an attractive side.

TAKE MILWAUKEE (-130).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Cubs have the better bullpen, and that chips away at taking the home favorite to win by multiple runs. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

Mostly neutral signals here. Tag the OVER 8.5 (-115) with just the slightest of leans.
