Michigan State football improved its offensive line on Thursday evening.

The Spartans have a landed commitment from Illinois transfer offensive lineman Andrew Dennis, according Justin Thind of 247Sports. Dennis is a former four-star recruit in the 2024 class and was previously committed to Michigan State during his recruitment.

Dennis ranked as the No. 162 overall prospect in the 2024 class. He also ranked as the No. 7 interior offensive lineman and No. 3 player from Michigan in the class, according to 247Sports.

Dennis enrolled early at Illinois and spent this past spring at Illinois. He, however, reportedly wanted to come back to a school closer to his hometown of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.

Could defensive lineman Derrick Harmon be returning to Michigan State after all?

College football insider Pete Nakos of On3 put out a list of schools still “in the mix” for Harmon — which included Michigan State. Harmon entered the transfer portal last week and has been considered one of the best available portal targets remaining.

Colorado and USC have been rumored as the favorites to land Harmon. However, a return to Michigan State could also be in play. Should Harmon return, it would be a big lift for the Spartans’ defense in 2024.

Michigan State football has extended a scholarship offer to a transfer safety from the FCS level.

East Tennessee State transfer safety Sheldon Arnold II announced on Tuesday evening that he’s received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. The offer announcement from Arnold came shortly after Michigan State starting safety Jaden Mangham hit the portal with intentions of leaving the program.

Arnold recorded 87 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and one touchdown this past season for the Buccaneers. Arnold has also recently received an offer for UAB.

Michigan State football will reportedly host a running back transfer from one of the top programs in the country.

Georgia transfer running back Andrew Paul will reportedly visit Michigan State on Saturday for the Spartans’ spring showcase event. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported the notable transfer portal news on Friday.

Paul is a former three-star running back from Dallas, Texas in the 2022 class. In his career at Georgia, he ran for 129 yards and one touchdown on 29 attempts. He also has two career receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown.

MSU football has reportedly extended a scholarship offer to a transfer portal wide receiver from Colorado State

Michigan State football has reportedly extended a scholarship offer to a transfer portal wide receiver from Colorado State.

Pete Thamel of ESPN has reported that the Spartans have offered Colorado State wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons. Michigan State is one of many schools to offer Ross-Simmons, with UCF, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, USF, Liberty, Coastal Carolina and Georgia State also already offering him a scholarship.

Ross-Simmons is scheduled to visit Syracuse this weekend, according to Thamel.

Ross-Simmons recorded 45 catches for 724 yards and three touchdowns this past season. Ross-Simmons ranks as a three-star wide receiver prospect in 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings.

Another Michigan State defensive back has entered the transfer portal.

Marqui Lowery Jr. announced on Thursday that he’s entered the transfer portal after playing three seasons at Michigan State. Lowery transferred to Michigan State from Louisville in 2021.

In his three seasons as a Spartan, Lowery appeared in 14 career games and recorded 30 tackles (two for loss) and two passes defended. His best season for the Spartans was his first in 2021, with not much production the past two years.

Michigan State defensive lineman Simeon Barrow has reportedly entered the transfer portal

For the fourth time, Michigan State defensive lineman Simeon Barrow has reportedly entered the transfer portal.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported on Thursday morning that Barrow has once again entered the transfer portal. This is the fourth time Barrow has entered the transfer portal, with a return to Michigan State occurring in each of his three previous entries.

Barrow has started 30 games for the Spartans in his career and recorded 110 tackles, with 18.5 for loss and 10.5 sacks. He’s also forced two fumbles in his career.

Michigan State football will reportedly host an Auburn transfer wide receiver for a visit next week.

Pete Nakos of On3 is reporting that Ja’Varrius Johnson will visit Michigan State next week. He visited UCF already and will also visit Arizona this week, according to Nakos.

Johnson is listed as a three-star transfer prospect on 247Sports. He’s ranked as the No. 89 wide receiver in the portal class.

Johnson has 64 career receptions for 1,114 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. This past season in particular, he had 347 receiving yards and four total touchdowns (three receiving and one rushing) for the Tigers.

A former Michigan State football transfer portal commit has a new home.

Wide receiver TJ Sheffield announced on Monday that he has committed to UConn. Sheffield made the announcement via X.

Sheffield transferred to Michigan State from Purdue in December, but never suited up for the Spartans this past spring. He officially decommitted from Michigan State in March, according to 247Sports.
