MSU football recruiting is fine: Ten recruits who could be added to the 2023 recruiting class

There are a lot of concerns with MSU’s 2023 recruiting class; it’s time for a deep breath. Here are ten recruits that MSU could add to their class before signing day:

There has been a lot of chatter amongst the social media sphere around the state of MSU’s 2023 recruiting class following the departures of Colton Hood and Johnathan Slack. While decommitments are never fun, I am here to do my best Aaron Rodgers impression for the Spartan fan base.

R-E-A-L-A-X.

While being at only 10 commitments is not something the staff wanted to be at, there is still a week until signing day and A LOT is going on behind the scenes.

By the conclusion of the early signing period, I expect Michigan State to get to at least 15 commitments/signees, at a bare minimum.

So the Michigan State fanbase needs to take one collective deep breathe, and strap in for the recruiting ride they are about to go on.

Here are ten prospects Michigan State is firmly in the mix for and could become part of the class:

Michigan State has gone to the golden state to offer a defensive back in the 2023 recruiting class who is currently committed to the University of Arizona, Sean Brown. Brown has been committed to the Wildcats since June 20th.

A native of Simi Valley, California, Brown plays his high school football at Simi Valley High School. Brown is 6-foot-3 and runs a 10.9 100m dash. With his length and speed, Brown projects to play free safety at the collegiate level.

MSU will look to get Brown to East Lansing for an official visit before the early signing period opens up.

Michigan State football should be prioritizing a certain WR recruit in the 2023 recruiting class

Opinion: A WR in the 2023 recruiting class should be getting Michigan State’s full attention

Michigan State currently has 12 commits in their 2023 recruiting class, and the Spartans coaching staff will be looking at around 8 to 13 more players to fill out the remaining spots within the recruiting class.

One player that should be a top priority to be in the class is wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. from Douglasville, Georgia. Singleton is currently committed to Western Kentucky.

The Spartans offered Singleton at the end of October to potentially fill a wide receiver spot in the class, a position the Spartans don’t have any commitments from.

So, why should Singleton be at the top of the WR board?

Singleton possesses a skill set MSU doesn’t have on their roster and its a skill set that should be welcomed, as well as needed in the wide receiver room.

Standing at 5-foot-10, Singleton runs a 10.6 second 100m dash, showing off the blazing speed he possesses. When he gets onto a football field he shows off that speed and uses it to his advantage in his route running and gaining yards after the catch.

When I think of this skill set, I think of recent players like Rondale Moore, KJ Hamler or former Spartan RJ Shelton. Singleton would be bringing in a foundation that is similar to these players and could develop into being as productive as the aforementioned comparisons.

Adding a talent like Singleton could add another element to the offense and is an addition the Spartans should heavily pursue.

Michigan State football featured in Nireek Sharpe’s top three

2023 Georgia defensive back Nireek Sharpe has featured Michigan State in his top three schools list:

Michigan State’s coaching staff is looking to round out their 2023 recruiting class as the early signing period in December looms. One of the prospects that has propelled near the top of Michigan State’s recruiting board is Nireek Sharpe.

Sharpe is a 6-foot-2 defensive back from Stockbridge, Georgia. He is not currently ranked by any of the recruiting services.

Sharpe is having a big senior season that has garnered the attention of several power five programs. Of the suitors, Sharpe has narrowed his list down to three.

Michigan State is featured in the top three alongside Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.

Sharpe visited Michigan State for the Rutgers game unofficially and will be back for an official visit in December. Sharpe also visited Mississippi State officially for the Bulldogs’ win over Auburn.
