Look at Jeremy Fears getting back in the gym, looking healthy

Jeremy Fears is starting to look like his old self again:

Michigan State basketball took a major hit in 2023-24 when reserve 5-star point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. was sidelined due to a shooting incident in his hometown on Christmas break. The injury prevented Fears from playing the closing months of the season.

Now, heading into the future, Tom Izzo hasn’t been shy that he is ready to give the keys to the program to Fears, although this will only work if Fears gets healthy and back to his normal self.

That doesn’t look to be a concern thus far, though, as Fears is back in the gym and showing off the progress he has made.

Michigan State basketball seeking redshirt for Jeremy Fears Jr.

Tom Izzo is making a play to get Jeremy Fears a redshirt for the 2023-24 season:

During his press conference ahead of the Spartans game against Iowa, Tom Izzo spoke to the media about his team. A part of Izzo’s press conference was speaking on true freshman point guard Jeremy Fears.

Fears, a former 5-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American, was having a solid true freshman season. It all came to a halt when Fears was shot in the leg upon returning home during Christmas break.

Unfortunately, the Spartans won’t be able to get Fears back on the court this season, and due to the awful circumstances in which the injury occurred, Izzo is in search of a redshirt for the freshman.

At Big Ten Media Days on Tuesday, Izzo gave high praise to Fears — a former McDonald’s All-American who will be a freshman this season. Izzo said Fears is “one of the best leaders as freshman that I’ve had.” That’s saying quite a lot about Fears knowing the greats that have played for Izzo over the years.
