Is a recent Alabama commit trolling Ohio State or a sign of things to come?

This recruitment may not be over? #GoBucks

Ohio State football lost out on the recruiting battle for Alabama offensive tackle, [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag], as he opted to stay home and play for the Crimson Tide.

The 6-foot, 5-inch, 315-pound tackle made his decision just last week, but it seems like the Buckeyes might still be able to flip him. Or does it?

The country’s No. 89 overall prospect and 8th tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings is currently at the Rivals250 Camp, and was seen wearing Ohio State gear along with putting up the famous O-H.

This could very well be a troll by DeBose, or it could be that he’s rethinking his choice.

You be the judge of this, but until DeBose formally makes a formal decommitment, I’d assume he’s going to be part of Alabama’s 2025 class.

Ohio State football misses out on another 2025 offensive tackle

The offensive line recruiting misses are starting to add up. #GoBucks

Although Ohio State football gained a commitment from in-state 2025 offensive lineman Jake Cook, it wasn’t all good new for the Buckeyes this weekend.

Another top target, Alabama offensive tackle [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag], who at one point was trending to Ohio State, opted to stay home and play for the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot, 5-inch 315-pounder made his official visit to Columbus two weeks ago, but Ohio State couldn’t get him to join the class.

Alabama gets one of the top offensive lineman in the country. DeBose was ranked the nation’s No. 89 overall player and No. 8 at his position on the 247Sports composite.

Ohio State has Cook and high four-star Carter Lowe committed at the moment. There is still hope of reeling in a big prospect. Five-star David Sanders Jr. is currently on an official visit while another elite lineman, Josh Petty, took one last weekend.

Alabama lands commitment from 2025 4-star IOL Micah DeBose

Kalen DeBoer closes the deal on another blue-chip recruit in four-star offensive lineman Micah DeBose

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program received some huge news on the recruiting trail on Saturday night. During an official visit to Alabama, 2025 four-star interior offensive lineman Micah DeBose announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide. DeBose chose Alabama over other programs such as Florida, Ohio State, and LSU.

Alabama has landed commitments from four offensive linemen in the past two weeks. DeBose joins fellow four-star offensive linemen Michael Carroll and Jackson Lloyd as well as three-star offensive lineman Mal Waldrep.

DeBose was committed to Georgia for a little less than a year. He decided to reopen his recruitment and weigh his options. The product of Vigor High School was recruited by Alabama under Nick Saban and Kalen DeBoer. He was a priority recruit for both coaching staffs.

DeBose is originally from Columbus, Ohio. Many viewed the Buckeyes as the long-term favorite to land his commitment. However, the Crimson Tide were able to use a final official visit this weekend and long-term relationships to land the blue-chip recruit.

He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds. At the college level, DeBose could be asked to play both offensive guard and offensive tackle. Nonetheless, his commitment is a huge one for the Alabama coaching staff. The product of Vigor High School is one of the top-ranked linemen in the country and the best offensive lineman in the state for the ’25 recruiting class.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama football program and its efforts on the recruiting trail.

The Athletic evaluates Florida’s 2025 class heading into official visits

This is a BIG month for the Orange and Blue on the college football recruiting front.

The next four weeks are big ones for Florida football as [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. roll out the red carpet for official visits to the Swamp by members of the 2025 cycle. The Gators are set to host some of the top talent in the nation in hopes of bolstering a lagging recruiting class heading into summer.

The Orange and Blue currently rank No. 45 in 247Sports’ 2025 team recruiting rankings but will have plenty of opportunities to climb up quickly if the program can impress the right players. The Athletic’s Manny Navarro recently looked at what’s cooking in Gainesville and sees a lot of potential in Florida’s possibilities.

“Billy Napier had the No. 3 recruiting class in the last cycle until his team lost five straight games to finish 5-7 and, in the process, lost several big-time commitments,” Navarro reflected on the previous class.

“The Gators did hold onto five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] and two high-profile in-state prospects — five-star defensive lineman [autotag]LJ McCray[/autotag] and four-star linebacker [autotag]Myles Graham[/autotag] — to finish with the No. 13 class in the 2024 cycle.”

Five intriguing visitors

“Florida is the mix for some elite prospects in the Class of 2025.”

Navarro lists wide [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag] (five-star, No. 13), linebacker [autotag]Tavion Wallace[/autotag] (four-star, No. 52), quarterback [autotag]Keelon Russell[/autotag] (four-star, No. 79), offensive tackle [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag] (four-star, No. 82) and quarterback [autotag]Antwann Hill[/autotag] (four-star, No. 127) as Florida’s five most intriguing visitors this summer.

Official visit schedule

“Cunningham, a Mississippi native who is ranked as the No. 2 receiver in the class, has been on campus twice and will return June 7,” Navarro begins.

“He also has visits lined up to Auburn (Friday), Tennessee (June 14) and Alabama (June 21). With Lagway part of Florida’s 2024 signing class, quarterback might not seem to be a huge position of need, but the Gators are still looking to land a good one and have Russell, an SMU commitment from Texas, and Hill, a Georgia native, on the docket for visits on back-to-back weekends.”

Four-star IOL reschedules Florida official visit

Four-star offensive lineman Micah DeBose is moving around his official visit schedule for the summer, but the Gators are still getting one.

Florida has been after former Georgia offensive line commit [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag] since he reopened his recruitment at the end of 2023, but the Gators will have to wait a bit longer to get him in town for an official visit.

According to Swamp247, DeBose’s planned official visit at the end of May is no longer happening. Instead, he’ll be at LSU that weekend. The good news is that he’s only pushing back the visit by two weeks. He’ll arrive in Gainesville on June 7 and stay through the weekend, though, giving Florida plenty of time with him.

Ohio State will get him the week after, and then Alabama closes out the month of June, barring another addition to the itinerary. Right now, DeBose hopes to have a decision made before his senior year.

Recruiting Summary

DeBose is a consensus four-star recruit ranked as high as No. 71 overall in the class of 2025 by ESPN. The On3 industry ranking, which considers all four major recruiting services, puts him at No. 117 nationally and No. 9 among interior offensive linemen.

The 247Sports composite has him in the top 100 at No. 82 and listed as the No. 8 offensive tackle in the class.

LSU is the overwhelming favorite to land the former Georgia commit, according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. The Tigers have 94.5% of the prediction with Alabama (2.3%) as a distant No. 2.

Former Georgia offensive tackle commit includes Vols in top 10

Former Georgia offensive tackle commit includes Tennessee in top 10.

2025 offensive tackle Micah DeBose announced his top 10 schools.

Tennessee, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama, USC, LSU, Florida State and Florida are DeBose’s top 10 schools.

DeBose decommitted from Georgia on Dec. 22, 2023.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound four-star offensive tackle prospect is from Vigor High School in Prichard, Alabama.

Tennessee offered a scholarship to DeBose on Nov. 16, 2022. Georgia was the first school to offer a scholarship to DeBose on April 7, 2022.

The Vols have six commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Quarterback George MacIntyre, tight end Jack Van Dorseiaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson and cornerback Tyler Redmond.

2025 4-star IOL includes LSU as he narrows list of finalists to 10

LSU is a heavy favorite to land Micah Debose.

The No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class has narrowed his list of finalists down to ten schools. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers have fortunately made the list.

[autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 315-pound, four-star interior offensive lineman from Mobile, Alabama, where he plays for Vigor High School. The Vigor Wolves finished the 2023 season with a 7-3 record and failed to make the 5A state playoffs.

DeBose has narrowed his list of schools down to LSU, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, Mississippi State and Florida. DeBose has received multiple Crystal Ball projections to commit to LSU and the Tigers are a 97% favorite to land him per On3.

The Tigers 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked as the number two recruiting class in the country by 247Sports. Kelly has already secured a commitment from one interior offensive lineman, four-star [autotag]Devin Harper[/autotag] from Shreveport, Louisiana.

LSU receives Crystal Ball projection for 2025 4-star IOL

The Tigers have received commitments from the No. 1 quarterback, running back and wide receiver in the class so far.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked as the No. 2 class in the country currently and there are a few reasons why. The Tigers have received commitments from the No. 1 quarterback, running back and wide receiver in the class so far.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his recruiting staff just received more great news as the Tigers have received a Crystal Ball projection and an On3 prediction to land the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the class according to On3’s industries rankings.

[autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 315-pound, four-star interior offensive lineman from Mobile, Alabama, where he plays for Vigor High School. The Vigor Wolves finished the season 7-3 and failed to make the class 5A playoffs in Alabama.

If the Tigers can land DeBose, they will likely jump back up to the No. 1 spot in the country. They will have to fend off Auburn and Alabama to land him though.

Ohio State football trending away from top Alabama offensive tackle

The Bucks have some catching up to do with the Alabama tackle

The Nick Saban effect is still rippling along college football and Ohio State has been trying to capitalize on that.

They already have done it once with the commitment of Alabama cornerback Na’eem Offord and the Buckeyes are trying to do the same with offensive tackle [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag].

Head coach Ryan Day has made the 6-foot, 5-inch and 315-pound tackle a priority, even personally visiting him in January to watch him play basketball. The effort is there, but unfortunately for Ohio State, it seems like an uphill battle for DeBose to land in Columbus.

On Monday, 247Sports Anna Adams placed a crystal ball pick for LSU, as it looks like the Tigers are trending for the No. 5 tackle and 28th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The good news is that the Buckeyes will have another shot at impressing DeBose, as Adams also says (subscription required) that Ohio State will get an official visit from him. This one is far from over, but at this point it doesn’t look great for him to end up in playing for the Scarlet and Gray.

LSU hosted No. 1 IOL in 2025 recruiting class this weekend

Auburn is a 95% favorite to land Micah DeBose per On3.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has been scorching hot while recruiting the class of 2025. He already has commitments from the No. 1 quarterback, receiver and running back in that class, but he is not done. Kelly welcomed the No. 1 interior offensive lineman of the 2025 class to Baton Rouge this weekend to try to convince him to join what could be one of the best LSU offenses of all time.

The aforementioned player is [autotag]Micah DeBose[/autotag]. DeBose is a 6-foot-5, 315-pound, four-star interior offensive lineman from Mobile, Alabama, where he plays for Vigor High School. The Vigor Wolves finished the 2023 season 7-3 and failed to make the playoffs in Class 5A.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections at this time for DeBose but the Auburn Tigers are a 95% favorite to land him per On3. Auburn is the favorite for now but I do not know if Alabama’s new head coach, Kalen DeBoer has had the chance to make his pitch to DeBose yet.
