Man charged with illegal transport of Masters merchandise, memorabilia taken from Augusta National

Richard Globensky was charged with transporting millions of dollars worth of stolen merch over a 13-year period.

Masters merchandise is some of the most coveted gear in the sports world, and it’s got one man in some potentially hot water.

According to a Tuesday filing in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Richard Globensky has been charged with transporting millions of dollars worth of Masters merchandise and memorabilia over a 13-year period from 2009-2022 from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia across state lines to Tampa, Florida, “knowing the same had been stolen, converted and taken by fraud.”

If convicted, Globensky would forfeit any property and cash from proceeds traced to the stolen items. Augusta National has yet to comment on the case.

Last weekend saw Scottie Scheffler win his second Masters in three years by four shots over Ludvig Aberg in the 88th playing of the annual event.

Want Masters merch but can’t go to Augusta National? Get your fantasy lineup ready

Daily prizes and overall tournament winners will be awarded.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024 merch: Retro T’s, lone cypress logo in hot demand

Check out the best merch here.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Pebble Beach Golf Links’s lone cypress logo is one of the best in the business.

The resort and the shops near the practice putting green are well aware that the logo is in hot demand and you have an endless array of options of logoed gear from just about any apparel maker you can think of. This is a well-stocked space and there’s also a pop-up AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am shop to go with a merchandise shop near the 17th hole.

The Lone Cypress Shop has just about everything, including the robe available in guest rooms at The Lodge and Pebble Beach spa products. I was digging some of the retro T-shirts, Vineyard Vines belts, the stuffed animal seal for my daughter and an old-school tournament pennant, which I haven’t seen for a long time.

Here’s a look at some of the merchandise on display this week at The Lone Cypress Shop and pop-up tournament shop at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Merchandise photos: Hats off to Sony Open for its creative hat selection

They know what they are known for and embrace it.

HONOLULU — Every PGA Tour merchandise shop should offer a wide enough selection of hats that customers can find at least one if not three they have to buy. Sounds simple but too many events I go to, the options are meh and lack any sort of creativity.

Not the Sony Open in Hawaii. The merchandise shop is the Waialae Country Club pro shop and they know what they are doing there. My favorites are the hats that incorporate the famous shaka (or hang loose sign), a few plays on words and the iconic W palm trees. They know what they are known for and embrace it.

The brand selection in this shop is second to none. They offer apparel from just about every brand name big and small, including some local ones, which you don’t see too often. Overall, high marks for the variety, creativity and Hawaiian flavor. Here’s some of the best gear for sale this week at the 2024 Sony Open.

Golf merchandise spotlight: BN3TH brings comfort, sustainability to men’s underwear for golfers

The brand has a unique three-dimensional support pouch, which can help with shifting and chafing.

Although underwear might seem like an insignificant decision for male golfers, with wind, heat, rain and more, it can often have a greater impact than anticipated.

Golfweek is taking a look at a number of golf merch manufacturers and distributors, after sifting through their goods at the PGA Merchandise Show in Frisco, Texas, last summer.

We chatted with one of the founders of BN3TH, which started as MyPakage in 2010. The brand has a unique three-dimensional support pouch, which can help with shifting and chafing. Co-founder Dez Price told Golfweek one of the things he’s proudest of is the company’s commitment to recyclable materials.

“We’re just trying to keep the planet as beautiful as we possibly can for the next generation to have as much fun as we’re actually having out there,” Price said.

Vegas is full of glitz and glamour, but the Shriners Children’s Open merch tent could use some of each

To be honest, in comparison to other Tour stops, it’s underwhelming.

LAS VEGAS — There’s plenty to love about the Shriners Children’s Open. TPC Summerlin is a spectacular setting for the PGA Tour event, and players love the well-manicured track. The Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street Experience are both within a half-hour’s drive as is glorious Red Rock Canyon, which boasts hiking and unforgettable views.

There is one area in which the FedEx Cup Fall event is lacking, however, and that’s the merchandise tent. According to those working the booth on Thursday, this marks the first year the merch has been pulled out of the pro shop and into its own space. There’s another small tent near the driving range, but that has just a few items for patrons.

To be honest, in comparison to other Tour stops, it’s underwhelming, especially for a tournament with as much pomp and circumstance as this one.

There are a number of Shriners-specific items, including a Build-a-Bear, and a solid collection of shirts, but the overall selection wasn’t up to typical standards. We’ll cut the organizers a break since they’re trying something new.

Here’s what we found:

Sanderson Farms Championship merchandise tent offers plenty of down-home Mississippi flavor

The merchandise tent offers up some interesting items, from blankets to shot glasses and hats galore.

The second leg of the FedEx Cup Fall schedule is underway in Jackson, Mississippi, and there’s plenty at stake at the Sanderson Farms Championship. The top 70 have secured their cards for the 2024 PGA Tour season, which is returning to a calendar-year schedule (January-August).

But since the top 125 after the RSM Classic, the last of the seven fall events, will retain their playing privileges for 2024, players are fighting for their jobs this week. Mackenzie Hughes is back to defend his title at The Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi, where the field will compete for an $8.2 million purse.

And as is typically the case on Tour, the merchandise tent at the Sanderson Farms offers up some unique and interesting items for those taking in the tournament, from blankets to shot glasses and hats galore.

Photos: Best (and worst) of the 2023 Ryder Cup merchandise shop

The Ryder Cup merch shop is loaded.

ROME – The Ryder Cup shop was bustling on Tuesday morning.

Not quite to the extent that there was a line out the door that necessitated using the stanchions on hand as if readying for a TSA rush at the airport or the new hot ride at Disney but it was just a practice round day and you can sense that those may come in handy later this week because fans are going home with souvenirs despite the hefty prices of gear. (How do you feel about 88 euro t-shirts and 139 euro polos?)

Overall, I’d say the selection is a little disappointing in that it’s essentially the usual suspects – polos, hats, quarter zips and hoodies and headcovers and the accessories you see at just about any tournament. I do like the soccer jersey look that is prevalent and best displayed by G/Fore, which also scores with its CIAO hat and scarf. The most unusual item for sale? The Ryder Cup logoed bathrobe takes the prize in my book. Who knew we needed one of those? Most of the big brands are there – Nike, Peter Millar – but also local favorite Chervo and Euro standbys such as Sunderland, Glenmuir and Abacus.

The Ryder Cup Shop has learned a thing from the experts in the merch biz at Augusta National and offering UPS shipping at the exit for those who don’t want to lug their purchases either around or back home. That’s a winner.

Photos: Best merchandise at the 2023 Tour Championship in Atlanta

East Lake’s merch tent is loaded this week.

ATLANTA — The merchandise tent is one of the coolest places on property this week at East Lake Golf Club, home of the Tour Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup.

Fans are literally hanging out there for the air conditioning. With temperatures expected to be in the upper 90s every day and the heat index to hit triple digits, I bumped into some friends on Wednesday who were doing just that — a veteran move if I’ve ever seen one.

But while fans are enjoying some cooler climes, they are also shopping with a plethora of brands to choose from —Peter Millar, Nike, Puma, Under Armour and adidas among the big names as well as Lululemon, Johnnie-O, Bobby Jones, Levelwear, TASC, Barstool Sports, Trap Golf, Ahead and Pukka. All your usual favorites can be found. Check out some of our favorites here.

Chicago dog, skyline and Olympia Fields clock give local feel in BMW Championship merchandise shop

Check out some of the best BWM Championship merchandise here.

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The BMW Championship merchandise shop is just steps away from the media center this week, so, I can report with full confidence that it is a popular spot this week and I’m told they’re expecting the shelves to be empty by the time a champion is crowned on Sunday.

It’s easily one of the best mixes of gear – with big-name brands such as Peter Millar, Foot Joy, Adidas and Under Armour represented as well as some smaller labels and specialty favorites such as Ahead and Imperial Sportswear (hats), Nexbelt (belts), Goodr (sunglasses), Stance (socks) and Foray (women’s apparel).

There are some fun alternative logos such as the Chicago Dog with a golf ball and Olympia Fields Country Club’s iconic clock. There is a good mix of local Chicago flare and BMW tournament staples. The FedEx Cup Playoffs deserve to be treated like a big deal and the BMW merchandise delivers.
