Man charged with illegal transport of Masters merchandise, memorabilia taken from Augusta National

Richard Globensky was charged with transporting millions of dollars worth of stolen merch over a 13-year period.

Masters merchandise is some of the most coveted gear in the sports world, and it’s got one man in some potentially hot water.

According to a Tuesday filing in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Richard Globensky has been charged with transporting millions of dollars worth of Masters merchandise and memorabilia over a 13-year period from 2009-2022 from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia across state lines to Tampa, Florida, “knowing the same had been stolen, converted and taken by fraud.”

If convicted, Globensky would forfeit any property and cash from proceeds traced to the stolen items. Augusta National has yet to comment on the case.

Last weekend saw Scottie Scheffler win his second Masters in three years by four shots over Ludvig Aberg in the 88th playing of the annual event.

Want Masters merch but can’t go to Augusta National? Get your fantasy lineup ready

Daily prizes and overall tournament winners will be awarded.

Photos: Merchandise from the Genesis Invitational and one of the best pro shops in the country

It is in the club’s pro shop where the cash register is working overtime this week.

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — You won’t find a better-stocked pro shop in the country than at Riviera Country Club. The Genesis Invitational merchandise shop has a few goodies too but could be doubled in size. It’s a wee bit claustrophobic.

But it is in the club’s pro shop where the cash register is working overtime this week. Fans are bunching up in there too in search of the distinctive ‘R’ logo and the ever-popular Riv gear. The club features a United Nations of brands and a really good mix of gear by someone who has a good eye for fashion and the latest styles.

Down the hill between the first and second fairway is the tournament merchandise shop, which also has good variety among TravisMathew, Nike, Peter Millar, Tasc, Levelwear and even local brand Bogey Boys from rapper Macklemore. Some fun T-shirts, Tiger stuffed animals and colorful caps among the top picks this week.

Here’s a look at the merchandise gear on sale this week at the tournament and the clubhouse shop.

Photos: $85 hats, baby onesies highlight the best (and worst) 2024 Farmers Insurance Open merch at Torrey Pines

The merch at Torrey Pines in the pro shop and fan village offers a little something for everyone.

SAN DIEGO — The coastal theme is spread far and wide around both the merchandise tent in the fan village and the Torrey Pines pro shop at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open.

Surfboards and palm trees are plastered all over the hats, polos, t-shirts and quarter zips for sale. There’s also an impressive amount of headcover designs that feature beach themes, California landmarks or a mix of both. Some of the items, such as a mesh-back hat with a magnet on the brim for a ball mark, will cost you as much as $85. Welcome to California, right?

Here’s a look at some of the shirts, hats and accessories on sale to the public.

NASSAU, Bahamas — Albany Golf Club is a luxurious setting for the Hero World Challenge. This is where Tiger Woods likes to dock his yacht named Privacy.

But it’s also a 20-man field and the crowds are typically sparse so there isn’t the need for a special merchandise tent. All the goodies are packed into the pro shop at Albany. It’s a nice mix of brands from Nike Golf and Peter Millar to B Draddy and Johnnie-O and Holderness & Bourne and Greyson as well as EP Pro and Foray Golf for women. But overall, the merchandise feels like an afterthought. There’s potential for so much more.

Here’s a look at some of the shirts, hats and accessories on sale to the public.

The golf shop is just a few steps away from where the pros practice on the putting green.

PHOENIX — The golf shop at Phoenix Country Club has quite a collection of not just Charles Schwab Cup Championship gear but also cool club merchandise as well.

The central city club, first established in 1899, celebrates the year of its founding with 1899 on some hats. There’s retro-looking Phoenix Country Club hats and shirts. The Schwab logo is also prominent throughout the pro shop, just feet away from where the pros practice on the putting green.

First played at Phoenix Country Club in 2017, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship has extended its deal to play at the venue through 2032.

Check out some of the merch, which also includes ball makers, engraved glassware and golf bags.

Photos: Check out the merchandise at the 2023 World Wide Technology Championship

Here’s a look at some of the items that fans will be rocking in their wardrobe and souvenir keepsakes for sale at the inaugural PGA Tour event in Cabo.

LOS CABOS, Mexico — The PGA Tour’s first visit to the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula coincidentally coincides with the Day of the Dead, the celebration of the transitory return of the souls of the departed, believed to be returning home to spend time with their families, which is greeted with parades, altars and events of all kinds in Mexico. Add to that list arguably my favorite Tour tournament T-shirt of the year (see below). Sadly, though, there’s already been such a run on this short that all that remained were some size extra small and the merchandise manager shared this information with a rueful expression.

The World Wide Technology Championship merchandise is being sold in the pro shop at Diamante this week, which is typically stocked with Nike gear — Tiger designed the El Cardonal layout, so that makes sense. But this week there’s a nice mix with brands such as Levelwear, Bad Birdie and FootJoy also being part of the mix. It’s a bit light on options, in part because they built a temporary wall and carved out space for the player locker room, but it’s less is more philosophy works —as long as it doesn’t run out on Wednesday of the gear everyone is clamoring for. Here’s a look at some of the other items that fans will be rocking in their wardrobe and souvenir keepsakes of the inaugural Tour event in Cabo.

Take a scroll through the best merch for sale at Royal Liverpool.

HOYLAKE, England — The R&A’s big tent has come a long way, baby, to borrow the old Virginia Slims slogan.

It’s got that Disney vibe where just when you think you’re going to get in, there’s another turn to the line. At the same time, the walk in to the merchandise treats you to a history lesson on the Open Championship and many of its great champions so the wait isn’t totally unbearable.

Once inside, the Open has a great collection of brands: Peter Millar, TravisMathew, Kjus, Boss, the Tartan Collection just to name a few.

Lots of navy and bold yellows and Claret Jug logoed items. It’s very much the usual suspects in terms of what is available but they just seem to do it better.

Open Championship 2023: Leaderboard, scores, news, tee times, more

A couple of my favorites: the Quiet Please head cover, the Lee Wybranski poster, preferably as a T-shirt and the Kjus puffy jacket.

You can have a look at a gallery of items here.

The lack of green at the John Deere Classic merch tent was surprising.

SILVIS, Ill. — The PGA Tour is making its annual pit stop in the Quad Cities this week for the 2023 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run, the event’s home since 2000.

You’d think an event sponsored by John Deere would lead to a merchandise tent loaded with the classic John Deere green, right? While there’s plenty of options for fans of all ages and sizes, the green is few and far between, with blue as the overarching color. The tent has a little something for everyone, from men’s and women’s hats, shirts, polos and more to a strong collection of kids gear and knick-knacks for the shelf.

There’s plenty of red, white and blue on the merch at LACC.

LOS ANGELES — Hats, T-shirts, signs, posters, books, balls, flags, backpacks and more.

The merchandise tent at the 2023 U.S. Open is stocked and open for business and as you can imagine, red, white and blue are the dominant colors here.

If you need a last-minute Father’s Day gift ahead of Sunday, this might be the spot for the golf lover in your family.

Los Angeles Country Club is hosting its first U.S. Open and it’s the first national championship in the City of Angels since nearby Riviera Country Club hosted in 1948, so these items are a keepsake for sure.

Take a look at these photos for a virtual stroll around the merch tent.
