Marquis Haynes Sr. posts message following scary Week 17 concussion

Panthers OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. sent out his thanks as he recovers from a concussion.

Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. has sent out his first message since Sunday’s scary events.

In the third quarter of the New Year’s Eve loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the sixth-year veteran collapsed onto the field multiple times following a tackle of quarterback C.J. Beathard. Haynes Sr.—who sustained a concussion on the play—was carted off, transported to a local medical facility and kept behind overnight for additional testing.

Per an official release from the team, he returned to Charlotte on Monday afternoon. The 30-year-old defender had this to post late Tuesday morning:

Haynes Sr., who began the season on injured reserve due to a lingering back issue, has played in just seven games in 2023. He’s made one start over those seven outings—totaling 16 combined tackles (three for a loss), 1.0 sack and two quarterback hits.

The Panthers have also stated that Haynes Sr. is currently in concussion protocol.

Panthers Week 16 injury report: Brian Burns good to go vs. Packers

Not one Carolina Panthers player landed on the naughty list ahead of their Week 16 matchup against the Packers.

Compared to their last two outings, Friday’s practice was much more joyous for the Carolina Panthers.

Every active player was accounted for this afternoon, including the outside linebacker trio of Brian Burns, Yetur Gross-Matos and Marquis Haynes Sr. All three practiced in full after missing the past pair of sessions due to an illness and will not carry any game designations into this weekend’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Three others, however, will be bringing over at least a little doubt into Sunday. Tight end Ian Thomas (ankle), safety Sam Franklin Jr. (quadriceps) and outside linebacker Claudin Cherelus—who was designated to return from injured reserve this week—are all questionable.

Here’s the final injury report for Week 16:

Studs and duds from Panthers’ Week 13 loss to Buccaneers

Chuba Hubbard continues to carry the load for the Panthers offense.

The Carolina Panthers, although slightly more fun, still fell short in yet another bumpy ride this season. But with some bad came a bit of good.

Here are the studs and duds from Week 13’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Jonathan Mingo listed as limited participant on Thursday with Achilles injury

Panthers rookie WR Jonathan Mingo was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice due to an Achilles injury.

The Carolina Panthers just lost one of their 2023 draft picks for the rest of the season, as guard Chandler Zavala hit injured reserve on Wednesday. And unfortunately, they may have to keep their eyes on the health of another rookie.

Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo was added to Thursday’s injury report with an Achilles issue. He was a limited participant for today’s practice.

Mingo is coming off one of his best performances of the season, where he reeled in four receptions for 60 yards in the Week 12 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The second-rounder is now up to 286 yards on 28 grabs on the campaign.

Additionally, three players did not participate in the session—safety Vonn Bell (shoulder), outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back) and tight end Hayden Hurst (concussion).

Panthers Week 11 inactives: Terrace Marshall Jr. a healthy scratch vs. Cowboys

Panthers WR Terrace Marshal Jr. is a healthy scratch for the Week 11 clash with the Cowboys.

Well, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich won’t have to worry about forgetting Terrace Marshall Jr. this week.

The third-year wide receiver is a healthy scratch for Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Marshall Jr., who was reportedly granted permission to seek a trade earlier this season, has recorded 18 catches for 134 yards in eight games.

Carolina’s offense will also be without tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol. Fellow tight end Ian Thomas should, however, provide some depth—as he was officially activated from injured reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthersm additionally, won’t have cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) nor outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back)—all of whom were ruled out on Friday.

Here is the full group of inactives for the team in Week 11:

  • OLB Marquis Haynes Sr.
  • CB CJ Henderson
  • TE Hayden Hurst
  • G Nash Jensen
  • OT Ricky Lee
  • WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

And here’s who’s down for Dallas:

  • CB Noah Igbinoghene
  • QB Trey Lance (emergency third QB)
  • OT Asim Richards
  • CB Eric Scott
  • RB Deuce Vaughn

Panthers Week 11 injury report: Jaycee Horn among 4 players out vs. Cowboys

The Panthers have ruled out CBs Jaycee Horn and CJ Henderson, OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. and TE Hayden Hurst for Week 11.

The Carolina Panthers have quite the task ahead of them this weekend in the red-hot Dallas Cowboys. And unfortunately, they’ll be without a few key defenders for the contest.

Cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) as well as outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back) have all been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup. Tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol, will also be a no-go.

Carolina will, at least, have their top pass rusher in Brian Burns. The two-time Pro Bowler missed the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears due to a concussion.
