Giants injury report: Saquon Barkley limited in practice

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley was added to the injury report on Thursday after being limited with a neck issue.

The New York Giants were back on the practice field Thursday and they saw the return of several players who had received veteran rest a day earlier.

Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence, guard Mark Glowinski and safety Julian Love were all full participants in practice.

The news wasn’t nearly as positive for safety Xavier McKinney, who remains on NFI. Head coach Brian Daboll said the captain had pins removed from his hand but didn’t sound optimistic about a 2022 return.

Meanwhile, defensive lineman Leonard Williams and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson remained sidelined. Running back Saquon Barkley was limited with a neck injury.

The Giants’ Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: OL Joshua Ezeudu (neck), CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee), OL Shane Lemieux (toe), DE Leonard Williams (neck)

Limited participant: CB Darnay Holmes (shoulder), WR Richie James Jr. (knee), DB Nick McCloud (hamstring), DL Henry Mondeaux (knee)

Full participant: WR Kenny Golladay (illness), OL Mark Glowinski (rest), NT Dexter Lawrence (rest), S Julian Love (rest)

Giants injury report: 7 players do not practice, 4 limited

7 members of the New York Giants missed practice on Wednesday (some for rest), and 4 others were limited. Kenny Golladay returned.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for a Week 14 game against the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

All eyes were on the walking wounded but the team didn’t offer good news in that regard. Safety Xavier McKinney is “doubtful” to return in time and questions remain about cornerback Adoree’ Jackson and defensive lineman Leonard Williams.

However, a few are trending in the right direction.

The Giants’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: OL Joshua Ezeudu (neck), CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee), OL Shane Lemieux (toe), DE Leonard Williams (neck), OL Mark Glowinski (rest), NT Dexter Lawrence (rest), S Julian Love (rest)

Stock up, down after Giants’ 20-20 tie with Commanders

Whose stock is up and whose is down following the New York Giants’ 20-20 tie with the Washington Commanders in Week 13?

The New York Giants had upwards of six opportunities to pick up a victory on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, but could not get it done. Instead, they settled for a 20-20 tie.

But you wouldn’t even know the game finished in a draw by listening to the coaches and players. In fact, Sunday’s tie was more deflating than any of the team’s four losses this season.

Whose stock is up and whose is down after the Week 13 tie? Let’s take a look.

Giants fall to Lions: Winners, losers and those in between

The New York Giants fell to the Lions, 31-18, in Week 11 and here’s a look at our winners and losers (and those in between) from the game.

The New York Giants and Detroit Lions braved the 35-degree weather and 20-plus MPH winds at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The Lions roared over the listless, sloppy Giants who now head to Dallas for a Thanksgiving Day game that should they lose, could damage their postseason hopes.

But the bad news doesn’t end there….

They’ll be short-handed come Thursday as they lost six players to injuries in this game: starting cornerbacks cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson (knee) and Fabian Moreau (ribs), center Jon Feliciano (knee), offensive tackle Tyree Phillips (neck), safety Jason Pinnock (jaw) and wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (knee).

Here’s some winners, losers and in-betweens from Sunday’s loss.

Darius Slayton, Oshane Ximines were highest-graded Giants in Week 5

Darius Slayton and Oshane Ximines earned the New York Giants’ highest PFF grades in a Week 5 upset of the Green Bay Packers.

The New York Giants rallied on Sunday in London, coming back from two touchdowns down to defeat the Green Bay Packers, 27-22.

With injuries piling up, the team was forced to rely on some unlikely heroes. One of those was wide receiver Darius Slayton, who caught six passes for 79 yards and earned a 89.6 grade from Pro Football Focus, the team’s highest mark of the week.

Just behind Slayton on the offensive side of the ball were left tackle Andrew Thomas (75.3), guard Mark Glowinski (74.5) and running back Saquon Barkley (72.1).

Other notable offensive grades belong to quarterback Daniel Jones (69.8), tight end Daniel Bellinger (67.5) and right tackle Evan Neal (56.4).

The lowest-graded Giants on offense were tight end Tanner Hudson (52.0) and center Jon Feliciano (39.4).

Defensively, edge rusher Oshane Ximines, who recorded the game-sealing sack, led the charge with a grade of 80.6. He was followed by edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux (75.0), linebacker Jaylon Smith (73.3) and nose tackle Dexter Lawrence (70.6).

Other notable defensive grades include safety Julian Love (70.5), cornerback Nick McCloud (61.5) and safety Xavier McKinney (44.7).

The lowest-graded Giants defenders were linebacker Jihad Ward (43.3) and safety Dane Belton (34.1).

The highest-graded special teams player was Cam Brown (91.0).

Giants injury updates: Kenny Golladay, Aaron Robinson likely to miss time

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll offered updates on more than 10 injured players and indicated that WR Kenny Golladay may miss time.

The New York Giants may have defeated the Chicago Bears, 20-12, in Week 4, but it came at a cost. In excess of 10 players went down injured and the prognosis on some of them is less than desirable.

During a Monday afternoon Zoom conference with the team’s beat reporters, head coach Brian Daboll broke down each — some in more detail than others.

Here are the updates on the team’s walking wounded.

Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor among new wave of Giants injuries

The New York Giants saw 10 players go down with injury against the Chicago Bears, including QBs Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor.

The New York Giants may have picked up a victory against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but they saw a new wave of injuries decimate their roster.

Among those injured were quarterbacks Daniel Jones, who suffered a sprained ankle, and Tyrod Taylor, who exited with a concussion.

After Taylor was knocked out of the game, the Giants were in such dire need at quarterback that Saquon Barkley briefly took over before Jones was forced back in under center.

“(Jones) wanted to go in,” head coach Brian Daboll said after the game. “I said, ‘You’re not going into the game. I see you’re limping. I’m not risking you getting injured to try to protect yourself with that limp. But if we need you, can you go back in the game?’ He said, ‘Yeah. I can go in the game now.’

“I said, ‘Tyrod’s going in the game, and if we need you, hopefully it’ll be just to hand the ball off.’ So, when Tyrod went down, I looked over to (quarterbacks coach) Shea (Tierney) and said, ‘Is he good to go?’ He said, ‘Yup.'”

With two injured quarterbacks, the Giants managed to win without throwing the ball the rest of the game.

“I feel good. I feel good. A little sore but all good. Listen to the trainers and doctors and go from there but feeling good,” Jones said, admitting there was pain when he returned to the game. “It hurt. Didn’t feel like I could move quite the same.”

In addition to Jones and Taylor, the Giants also saw injuries to right tackle Evan Neal, safety Julian Love, guard Mark Glowinski, wide receiver Kenny Golladay, cornerback Aaron Robinson, defensive lineman defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux and edge rushers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari.

Are we missing any?

The exact severity of each injury remains unclear but at least a few of them (Robinson, Mondeaux) appeared destined to miss some time. The same is likely true for Jones and Taylor. The good news is that Thibodeaux said he merely had a back spasm and would be fine.

Love also said he would “return soon,” but that promise was vague and also sounded like he could miss some time.

Although the Giants are 3-1 on the season and that’s worth celebrating, they once again appear to be well on their way toward leading the league in injuries — a distinction they own since 2009.

Andrew Thomas, Dexter Lawrence were highest-graded Giants in Week 3

Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence were the highest-graded New York Giants in a Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The New York Giants fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 23-16, on Monday night due in large part to being dominated in the trenches. Ironically, however, that’s where some of the team’s highest-graded players resided.

Left tackle Andrew Thomas continued his early-season dominance, earning a team-leading grade of 79.5 courtesy of Pro Football Focus. He was followed by tight end Daniel Bellinger (76.5), center Jon Feliciano (71.6) and quarterback Daniel Jones (64.5).

The Feliciano grade is surprising to say the least.

Other notable offensive grades include right guard Mark Glowinski (63.2), running back Saquon Barkley (60.5) and wide receiver Kenny Golladay (53.8).

The lowest-graded Giants on offense were right tackle Evan Neal (45.8) and guard Ben Bredeson (44.8).

Defensively, nose tackle Dexter Lawrence tied with cornerback Fabian Moreau for the highest grade (77.5). They were followed by defensive lineman Nick Williams (75.0), linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux (73.2) and safety Xavier McKinney (72.4).

Other notable defensive grades include linebacker Oshane Ximines (71.8), safety Julian Love (66.9) and linebacker Tae Crowder (47.4).

The lowest-graded Giants on defense were nose tackle D.J. Davidson (29.6) and safety Dane Belton (27.1).

The Giants’ highest-graded special teams player was Fabian Moreau (65.7).

Andrew Thomas, Leonard Williams were highest-graded Giants in Week 2

Pro Football Focus grades are out and Andrew Thomas and Leonard Williams led the way for the New York Giants in Week 2.

The New York Giants defeated the Carolina Panthers, 19-16, in Week 2 but it wasn’t necessarily pretty. Big Blue struggled in a lot of areas, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

In particular, their offensive line appeared to take a step back. With the exception of left tackle Andrew Thomas, that is. He led the team with a 87.5 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Just behind Thomas were wide receiver Richie James (72.6), and tight ends Tanner Hudson (69.1) and Chris Myarick (66.7).

Other notable offensive grades include running back Saquon Barkley (65.9), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (59.9) and quarterback Daniel Jones (51.5).

The lowest-graded Giants on offense were offensive linemen Mark Glowinski (50.2), Jon Feliciano (39.9) and Joshua Ezeudu (22.3).

Defensively, Leonard Williams led the way with an 83.4. He was followed by cornerbacks Darnay Holmes (77.2), Fabian Moreau (69.5) and Adoree’ Jackson (67.2).

Other noteworthy defensive grades include linebacker Oshane Ximines (66.1), safety Xavier McKinney (60.0) and nose tackle Dexter Lawrence (58.3).

The lowest-graded Giants defenders were linebacker Tomon Fox (43.7), defensive lineman Justin Ellis (30.6) and linebacker Tae Crowder (30.2).

The highest-graded Giant on special teams was the aforementioned Chris Myarick, who logged an 81.2.

For the Giants, it was their first opening weekend win since 2016 and just their second opening weekend win in 13 years.

Here’s a look at the winners, losers and those in between from a thrilling Sunday victory.
