Two Alabama commits ranked atop latest top JUCO recruits list

Both Alabama commits were ranked at No. 1 and No. 2 in On3’s latest JUCO recruits list.

On3 recently released a top-10 list of the top junior college recruits in the country. The top two spots were filled by Alabama commits Malik Benson and Justin Jefferson. Benson was listed as the No. 1 junior college player in the country while Jefferson was listed as No. 2.

As for Benson, he was recently listed as a four-star recruit but was listed as a five-star in the latest rankings. The Kansas native spent the past two seasons at Hutchinson Community College. He hauled in 102 receptions for 2,206 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns as a Blue Dragon.

Benson recently played in the Junior College National Championship against Iowa Western Community College. Unfortunately, his team did lose. However, he was able to record five receptions for 54 receiving yards.

On the other hand, Jefferson is listed as a four-star recruit. In two seasons at Pearl River Community College, he tallied 139 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and five sacks. The Tennessee native is an intriguing commit for the Alabama recruiting class with linebacker Henry To’oTo’o and Jaylen Moody likely leaving for the NFL. He could come in and make an instant impact a season from now.

The two are set to be early enrollees and sign on early National Signing Day next week.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football recruiting news.

Alabama makes final three for 2023 WR, Jalen Hale

Alabama lands in top three for 2023 four-star wide receiver Jalen Hale.

Alabama has begun to see success with its 2023 recruiting class. Over the last month, the Tide has landed seven commitments. The positive recruiting news continued in Tuscaloosa on Thursday evening as 2023 wide receiver Jalen Hale released his top three schools. Alabama was one of the three schools listed.

There have been two wide receivers to join the 2023 recruiting class: Cole Adams and Malik Benson. Wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins has done a phenomenal job so far and will look to continue his hot streak of landing receivers over the coming months. With Alabama being one of three finalists, they have to like their chances with the Texas native.

Hale is one of few wide receivers that the coaching staff has pursued heavily. Ideally, the staff would like to add just one more wide receiver. However, they would likely welcome two commitments. Hale is somewhat similar to former Alabama wide receivers Henry Ruggs and Jameson Williams in the fact that he also runs track. As a sophomore at Longview High School, he ran a 22.68 in the 200-meters.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down his recruitment profile below.

No. 1 JUCO recruit Malik Benson makes commitment

Elite junior college wide receiver recruit Malik Benson has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide and will be able to play in 2022.

Elite junior college wide receiver recruit Malik Benson has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide over Oregon, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee. Benson is rated as a four-star wide receiver prospect and the top JUCO recruit in the country.

The talented wide receiver has spent the past two seasons with Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas. Now, Benson will get a taste of SEC football during the 2022 college football season. Could Benson see immediate playing time at Alabama?

The Crimson Tide do have a need at the receiver position.

Benson was originally a three-star recruit coming out of Lansing High School as a member of the class of 2021.

Benson has impressive speed and generates a lot of separation on tape. The four-star had scholarship offers from many of the top college football programs in the country.

The Hutchinson star has a track and field background. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver visited all of his top schools, but ultimately rolled with Alabama.

Kirby Smart and Georgia could still be looking for another addition to the roster ahead of the 2022 college football season.

Alabama lands in top three for one of nation’s top running backs, Richard Young

Alabama listed as one of three schools in the mix for 2023 five-star running back Richard Young.

Alabama earned some good news on Tuesday afternoon when junior college wide receiver [autotag]Malik Benson[/autotag] committed to the Crimson Tide. The good news didn’t stop there, as 2023 running back Richard Young named Alabama as one of three programs he’s actively considering. The other two schools in the mix are Oregon and Georgia.

Young is regarded as a five-star by 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 2 running back in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. He shows flashes of speed for his size and is a good downhill runner.

A decision is likely coming soon from the Florida native. Young made the trip to Tuscaloosa for his official visit on June 10. Then, he visited Georgia on June 17. Finally, he made the trek to Eugene to visit Oregon on June 24.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and Alabama appear to be in a good position to land Young. It also doesn’t hurt his chances of seeing early playing time with [autotag]Trey Sanders[/autotag], [autotag]Jahmyr Gibbs[/autotag], and [autotag]Jase McClellan[/autotag] all with the option to enter the 2023 NFL draft.

Young has yet to announce a commitment date, but Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow and share updates regarding Young and other Alabama target prospects.

Alabama lands commitment from top junior college WR prospect, Malik Benson

Alabama lands the commitment of top junior college prospect Malik Benson. He has been the top wide receiver target for the coaching staff over the last few months.

Alabama received some good news on Independence Day by landing a commitment from three-star offensive lineman [autotag]RyQueze McElderry[/autotag]. The Crimson Tide continued their recent hot streak by landing junior college wide receiver Malik Benson on Tuesday. He chose Alabama over Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia and LSU.

Benson, who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, is regarded as the top junior college prospect by 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. Last season at Hutchinson Community College, Benson hauled in 43 receptions for 1,229 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He creates separation in his route-running and is very dynamic when the ball is in his hands. The Tide has a good reputation for developing wide receivers and Benson could be the next elite wide receiver to come out of Tuscaloosa.

Recently, Alabama’s recruiting trail has begun to pick up steam. Several of the Tide’s top targets are expected to commit to Alabama.

Benson has been a big-time target for the Crimson Tide for quite some time and has the ability to have an immediate impact on the offensive side of the ball next season.

Blue-chip JUCO receiver locks in LSU official visit

Benson is one of the most highly sought JUCO players in the nation, and he’ll be heading to Baton Rouge next month.

LSU is in competition to land one of the top JUCO prospects in the country in receiver [autotag]Malik Benson[/autotag], who has attracted the attention of some of the top programs in college football.

The Lansing, Kansas, native plays for junior college powerhouse Hutchinson Community College, also in Kansas, and he released a top five this past weekend that included the Tigers, in addition to Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Oregon. He has a total of 25 scholarship offers.

Benson has set official visit dates for each school in the top five, and he’ll be coming to Baton Rouge on June 3. That will be his second trip to see a school in his top five, as he will head to Eugene to see the Ducks on May 20. After his trip to the bayou, he will see Knoxville (June 10) and Athens (June 17).

In Benson’s lone season at the JUCO level, he recorded 43 catches for 1,229 yards — a single-season program record — in addition to 11 receiving touchdowns. His unbelievable 28.6 yards per catch was also a single-season NJCAA record.

The Tigers will have to fend off a lot of top competition, but coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] will hope to make an impact when he makes his way to campus next month for an official visit.

Top-ranked JUCO WR Malik Benson places Oregon Ducks in top-5, schedules visit to Eugene

The Ducks are the only non-SEC school to be in the running to land top-ranked JUCO WR Malik Benson.

Some of the biggest schools in the nation are all after one junior college player who made waves in his freshman season at Hutchinson Community College last season.

That player is Malik Benson, a 6-foot-1 wide receiver who broke the school’s single-season yardage record and now is looking to make the leap to D1 after another season at Hutch C.C.

Recently Benson released his top-5 and included the Oregon Ducks in the mix, who are the only non-SEC school to be getting a look from the talented offensive weapon. Benson also scheduled a visit to come to Eugene later this month and meet the Oregon coaching staff before making his decision later this summer, according to On3.

Should Benson strongly consider the Ducks, he would join a burgeoning 2023 recruiting class that added 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey earlier this month, and looks to be on the rise in the national recruiting rankings.
