The Chicago Bears are coming off a three-win season that culminated in a 10-game losing streak. Still, there’s plenty of optimism heading into the 2023 season following an impactful offseason.

EA Sports has started unveiling Madden 24 ratings, continuing with edge rushers and defensive tackles, where notable Bears players Justin Jones, Trevis Gipson, Andrew Billings and DeMarcus Walker led the way for Chicago.

Here’s a look at the Madden 24 ratings for qualifying Bears edge rushers and defensive tackles.

The Chicago Bears had arguably the league’s worst defensive line last season, where there’s been some overhauling specifically along the interior.

EA Sports has started releasing Madden 24 ratings, continuing with defensive tackles. Veterans Justin Jones and Andrew Billings led the way for the Bears. Jones earned a 74 rating (31st) and Bills notched a 72 rating (41st).

Jones was easily the best defensive lineman this season, and he provided consistency to Chicago’s weakest position group. Poles praised Jones as one of the most consistent playmakers along the defensive front this season, where he led the team in tackles for loss and was second in QB hits.

Billings was signed in free agency to shore up the defensive line. He’s a dominant run stuffer who should immediately upgrade what was one of the NFL’s worst run defenses last season.

Elsewhere, Chicago’s rookie defensive tackles Gervon Dexter and Zacch Pickens received their ratings. Dexter landed a 68 with Pickens earning a 67. Dexter and Pickens will serve as important rotational pieces along the defensive line, even thought they might not start immediately, as rookies.

‘Madden NFL 24’ ratings for Panthers defensive linemen revealed

Did Derrick Brown’s breakout 2022 season earn him a breakout rating in “Madden NFL 24?”

Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown burst onto the scene this past season, putting forth a career campaign that finally made him look like the seventh overall pick the franchise drafted him to be. So, did that reflect in his new “Madden NFL 24” rating?

Here is Brown’s and the rest of the Carolina d-line’s numbers:

Aaron Donald earned a record seventh straight 99 overall Madden rating because he’s Aaron Donald

Donald deserves so much respect.

When Aaron Donald finally hangs up his shoulder pads and helmet, he will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the greatest NFL players of all time. Heck, he’s in the conversation for the best defender ever. Period.

Even after a down 2022 season by Donald’s astronomically high standards, it should be no surprise he’s still viewed as an unstoppable game-breaker. Build up goodwill like three Defensive Player of the Year awards and seven First-Team All-Pro selections, and it’ll be hard for anyone to knock you down a peg.

The proof is in the pixelated pudding. Donald earned his seventh-straight 99 overall rating in Madden 24 on Tuesdaythe most all-time in the video game franchise’s history.

And it’s some of the least surprising news of the football offseason.

I respect Donald’s greatness. I count myself as one of the people who would name him the best defender in football history. There has never been more of a dominant interior pass rusher who could carry a defensive unit by himself like Donald.

He is in a class all to his own.

On the flip side, Donald’s best days are likely behind him. The 2022 season was the first time Donald missed more than one game in a campaign since the 2017 season. The difference this time around is he’s 32 years old with over 7,600 snaps of mileage. His performance could theoretically fall off a cliff at any moment.

With that said, the coming next few years might be the last we see of a true titan of the sport. And he’ll still be elite, and he’ll still be worthy of the highest virtual recognition.

We should appreciate Donald (even) more while we still can.

‘Madden NFL 24’ ratings for Panthers edge rushers revealed

Brian Burns’ “Madden NFL 24” rating seems, well, a tad low . . .

On Tuesday, EA Sports rolled out the “Madden NFL 24” ratings for the league’s edge rushers. And for a two-time Pro Bowl starter, Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Brian Burns seemed a bit underrated.

‘Madden NFL 24’ ratings for Panthers safeties revealed

We’re not really sure if Jeremy Chinn is a safety anymore. Nonetheless, he and the rest of the players at the position had their “Madden NFL 24” ratings revealed on Monday.

The Carolina Panthers’ safety room includes one of the best at the position, a young dawg and a guy who may not actually be much of a safety anymore. But for whatever they all are, their “Madden NFL 24” ratings were revealed on Monday.

Watch: Chargers WR Quentin Johnston reacts to ‘Madden NFL 24’ rating

Chargers rookie Quentin Johnston’s ratings were revealed and he reacted to them.

The Chargers went all-in on the wide receiver position in the 2023 NFL draft by selecting former TCU standout Quentin Johnston with their first-round pick.

Ahead of the release of EA Sports Madden NFL 24, Johnston’s rating was unveiled, earning a 74-overall grade in their preliminary ratings and was assessed to have an 81 catch attribute value.

And known for his speed and yards-after-the-catch ability, Johnston checked in as the second-fastest rookie receiver with an 89-speed rating.

Johnston reacted to his ratings, and he seemed to be fine with his catch rating but felt that his overall rating was too low.

Check it out:

Johnston will have to prove to EA Sports’ experts that he’s capable of a higher rating over the course of the 2023 campaign as he competes with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for targets in Los Angeles’ stacked offense that features superstar quarterback Justin Herbert under center.

Chargers’ Derwin James earns top spot in ‘Madden NFL 24’ safety ratings

Notorious Madden fan Derwin James earned the game’s top rating at the safety position ahead of the 2023 season

The Chargers secondary is chock-full of young talent, and the rating experts at EA Sports seem particularly bullish on safety Derwin James’ potential for the 2023 season, giving him the top overall grade at his position for the upcoming release of the “Madden” franchise.

“Madden” rates each player in the NFL on a 1-99 scale, with 99 representing the absolute best grade a player can earn for their in-game avatar. James graded out at a 95-overall, landing just shy of the coveted “99 Club” reserved for the league’s most preeminent stars.

Though the grades that go into his overall rating have yet to be released, Chargers fans can rest assured that James will be a force to be reckoned with when the game releases in August.

As the top-rated safety in the game, James can be expected to have cheat code-esque abilities when “Madden” fanatics utilize him as part of their secondary.
