The Ravens will now work to re-sign defensive tackle Justin Madubuike while understanding that they may lose linebacker Patrick Queen to unrestricted free agency.

With the locker room cleaned out and the offseason set to begin, the Ravens signed nine players to reserve/futures deals via NFL Communications.

Here are 22 names from this weekend’s Divisional Round action that Panthers fans may recognize

Here are 22 ex-Panthers who are gearing up for this year’s Divisional Round games:

4 of Panthers’ 2023 cuts signed to practice squads on Thursday

Four players who were lost in the Panthers’ 53-man roster shuffle were signed to practice squads elsewhere on Thursday.

Matt Corral wasn’t the only freshly-cut Carolina Panther who just found a new home.

Four players who did not make the initial 53-man roster cut for the Panthers this summer were signed to practice squads on Thursday. They are as follows:

Former Panthers DT Bravvion Roy claimed by Bears

With the addition of DT Bravvion Roy, the Bears now have four players from the Panthers’ 2022 roster.

It didn’t take long for Bravvion Roy to find a new home. In fact, that new home already has some of his old friends.

After being waived by the Carolina Panthers on Monday to make room for defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, Roy officially landed with the Chicago Bears late this afternoon. He joins his former Panthers teammates in wide receiver DJ Moore, quarterback PJ Walker and running back D’Onta Foreman.

Before coming to Carolina, Roy played his college ball at Baylor University from 2016 to 2019. As a (Baylor) Bear, he amassed 133 total tackles (19.0 for a loss), 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 42 games.

The 6-foot-1, 330-pounder was then selected by the Panthers and head coach Matt Rhule (also Roy’s head coach at Baylor) in the sixth-round of the 2020 NFL draft. He went on to play in 45 games over three seasons for Carolina—totaling 76 tackles, a sack, eight quarterback hits and an interception.

Former Panthers DT Bravvion Roy thanks Carolina

Bravvion Roy, who was waived by the Panthers on Monday morning, thanked Carolina right after the news broke.

Right before the start of their fourth practice at training camp, the Carolina Panthers officially swapped a Roy for a Ray.

To make room for new defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, the team waived fourth-year veteran Bravvion Roy. Roy had spent all three of his NFL seasons with Carolina, and thanked them for his time shortly after the news broke:

A Houston, Texas native, Roy attended nearby Baylor University from 2016 to 2019. There, he recorded 133 total tackles (19.0 for a loss), 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble over 42 outings.

Roy would then be taken by the Panthers with the 184th overall pick of the 2020 NFL draft, following Baylor head coach Matt Rhule to the pros. The sixth-round selection played in 45 games for Carolina between 2020 and 2022—amassing 76 tackles, 1.0 sack, eight quarterback hits and an interception.

With the defense’s move to a 3-4 base under new coordinator Ejiro Evero, the 6-foot-1, 330-pounder may be lacking the length at the nose tackle position—helping prompt their move for the bigger Ray.

‘Madden NFL 24’ ratings for Panthers defensive linemen revealed

Did Derrick Brown’s breakout 2022 season earn him a breakout rating in “Madden NFL 24?”

Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown burst onto the scene this past season, putting forth a career campaign that finally made him look like the seventh overall pick the franchise drafted him to be. So, did that reflect in his new “Madden NFL 24” rating?

Here is Brown’s and the rest of the Carolina d-line’s numbers:

Panthers DL coach Todd Wash sheds light on new-look front

On Wednesday, Panthers DL coach Todd Wash gave us a better idea of where his players will be positioned along the team’s realigned front.

Being that the current state of practices is a bit removed from actual football, Carolina Panthers defensive line coach Todd Wash likes to refer to organized team activities (OTAs) as “gym class.” Nonetheless, he still has an idea of what the attendance sheet will look like when the actual football does begin.

On Wednesday, Wash answered questions from reporters for the first time since being hired this offseason. He was first asked about Derrick Brown, who has a few new tweaks to make in the team’s switch to a 3-4 base.

“He’s gonna line up in some of the exact same spots he has before,” Wash said. “Over the guard, over the center. We’re just addin’ another little alignment for him, where he goes out and lines up over a tackle at times. But for the most part, his alignments are the same. The biggest change is gonna be the technique.”

All Brown has known, at least over his three-year NFL career, is how to play as one of two defensive tackles inside of a 4-3 front. But, even after having a career year in that role this past season, the 6-foot-5, 320-pounder must be prepared to expand his game from here on out.

Wash noted that Brown, as well as free-agent addition Shy Tuttle, have the ability to play as ends or nose tackles in the new scheme. He also spoke on who will fit primarily into that nose tackle spot.

“Yeah, we got Marquan [McCall]. We have him penciled in as a nose in our base, along with John Penisini,” Wash said. “I had Peni up in Detroit, and he’s a true nose guard. So once he gets out there and starts practicin’ and stuff with us, we feel we have two guys that are big, stout players on the inside with both McCall and Peni.

“And Bravvion Roy is another guy that’s a nose in our system. He’s really startin’ to flash and show some things in this gym class we call it instead of football.”

The football, as Wash added, starts in training camp—where he expects one heck of a competition within his unit.

Sunday’s loss to the Ravens marked the third straight game in which Panthers WR DJ Moore failed to reach the 30-yard receiving mark.
