Madden leaves Georgia football out of career mode

Madden 21 did not have the Georgia Bulldogs among the ten college football teams playable in career mode.

Madden 21 will have a new look in their career mode. The mode will allow players to play out a pair of seasons at the college ranks before the NFL Draft and playing in the NFL.

The mode is hopefully a stepping stone for a return of the NCAA Football video game. The mode only allows players to choose from ten colleges, which isn’t enough. The Georgia Bulldogs did not make the cut:

Is apparent that Madden wanted to have two options from every major conference, but they left out teams like Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia. It will be interesting to see how this career mode turns out.

The Franchise Mode is drawing criticism. How can the game leave out so many teams? Who are in the conferences surrounding teams like LSU and Florida?

The only true way for EA Sports to win back many college football fans is for a return of the NCAA Football video game. The issue with the return of NCAA Football is the player name and likeness appearing in the game.

Here’s another look at Broncos RB Melvin Gordon in ‘Madden 21’

Here’s another video of Broncos running back Melvin Gordin in ‘Madden NFL 21.’

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller and running back Melvin Gordon were featured briefly in the first trailer for Madden NFL 21, which will hit stores on Aug. 25.

It appears that Gordon might be one of the featured players in marketing for the video game this summer. EA Sports shared a video on Instagram last week highlighting gameplay updates. Gordon was shown in that ad as well, appearing at the 1:10 mark in the below video.

Madden 21 allows the opportunity to play two seasons for the Longhorns

An updated feature in Madden 21’s Face of the Franchise mode will allow you to play for the Longhorns for two season.

It was announced on Tuesday that a new feature in the upcoming Madden franchise produced by EA Sports would allow you to play for 10 select college franchises. Yes, one of those teams would be the Texas Longhorns. While fans clamor and beg for the return of the NCAA football franchise, this gives you a little bit of that with a college mode.

For last year’s edition you could choose one of 10 teams, however they replaced Texas Tech and Florida State with Nebraska and Michigan State.

According to EA Sports’ website, you will face some challenges with the opportunity to play for two seasons  in college before trying your luck in the NFL.

Your story doesn’t end there though as you’re thrust center stage on National Signing Day as ten FBS schools vie for your talents. What starts off as a normal Signing Day ends with a dramatic twist after you don the hat of the school you’ve chosen to attend. Once you set foot on campus the stakes get even higher as you not only have to deftly navigate a Quarterback controversy right out of the gate, but also have to figure out how to appease your domineering, old school approach, newly minted Head Coach Red O’Brien – all while attempting to build your draft stock through two challenging seasons of college football AND win an College Football Playoff Championship (or two) along the way. As if that weren’t enough, you’re thrown out of your comfort zone and into disarray when Coach O’Brien delivers you an ultimatum – either switch positions to Running Back or Wide Receiver, or pack your bags and take your chances in the NFL Draft!

For Longhorns fans, you could very well become your own version of Roschon Johnson. Start out at quarterback only to make the switch to running back or even wide receiver. With so much uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season with COVID-19, this might be one way to guarantee you get your football fix.

Not everyone was excited about the possibility of playing for the University of Texas in the “Face of the Franchise” mode.

Michigan State is officially a playable team in the Madden 21 career mode

It was announced on Tuesday that Michigan State will be one of 10 playable teams featured in Madden 21’s career mode.

Fans of the long-dormant NCAA Football video game franchise will soon get a taste of once again playing college football in a video game as Madden NFL 21 will let players choose from one of 10 college programs to play out two seasons in the game’s career mode. Spartan fans should be especially excited about this development: Michigan State will be one of those 10 playable teams.

The news was announced on Tuesday. College football has been missing a video game since NCAA Football 14, a fact made especially painful considering the team that graced that game cover (Michigan’s Denard Robinson).

Here is the full list of playable schools:

  • Michigan State
  • Nebraska
  • Oklahoma
  • Florida
  • LSU
  • Clemson
  • Oregon
  • USC
  • Miami
  • Texas

Broncos fan creates alternate ‘Madden 21’ cover

This Broncos fan made an alternate ‘Madden 21’ cover featuring Drew Lock and several of his teammates.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will be featured on the cover of Madden NFL 21 this year. One Denver Broncos fan wants to use a cover featuring Denver Broncos players — so he made one.

Here’s an alternate Madden cover from Reddit’s “finalcutwizard,” who shared his design on r/DenverBroncos on Tuesday:

(Don’t worry, the Madden Curse doesn’t apply to fan-made alternate covers.)

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller and running back Melvin Gordon were featured briefly in EA Sports’ first trailer for Madden 21.

After signing Gordon to a two-year contract during NFL free agency, Denver shared a Madden clip of Gordon wearing an orange and blue uniform. Gordon was rated 84 overall in last year’s version of the game.

Miller has consistently been Denver’s highest-rated player in the game since quarterback Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season. Last year, EA Sports gave Miller a 97 overall rating. To view all of the Broncos’ initial ratings from Madden NFL 20click here.

Lamar Jackson isn’t afraid of Drake or Madden curses

If you believe fans on social media, Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is doomed by being liked by rapper Drake and being on the cover of “Madden 21”

If you take a look at Facebook and Twitter, you’ll see plenty of Baltimore Ravens fans denouncing quarterback Lamar Jackson being on the cover of “Madden 21.” Whether you believe in it or not, the so-called “Madden curse” is a phenomenon people have been getting worked up over for more than a decade.

The athletes on the cover of the video game franchise are supposedly cursed, seeing them have a down season that year. Whether that’s an injury, their team not going as far as expected, or any bad thing that could possibly happen; people chalk it up to the “Madden curse” every year.

While fans are concerned about it, Jackson isn’t bothered. On Complex’s “Load Management” podcast, Jackson noted last year’s cover athlete, Patrick Mahomes, led the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years. “So, if that’s the curse, I want it,” Jackson said hastily in response.

But Jackson isn’t just fighting the curse of being on a video game cover. The Ravens’ quarterback is also fighting the so-called “Drake curse” after the rapper wished Jackson a happy birthday prior to their playoff game against the Tennessee Titans.

Much like the video game curse, people that believe in the “Drake curse” allege that any player or team the artist supports is doomed to lose. And just like the “Madden curse,” this one has been debunked recently with the Toronto Raptors, Drake’s favorite basketball team, winning an NBA title. Jackson called the curse “BS” on the “Load Management” podcast, saying Drake wore his jersey a few weeks before that as well and Baltimore won without trouble then.

Jackson put it all together when talking to Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks on “Take it There.” When asked about having both the “Madden curse” and the “Drake curse,” Jackson retorted back, “Two negatives make a positive.”

We’ll see if Jackson is indeed cursed this upcoming season. The Ravens are expected to be one of the best teams in the NFL in 2020 and Jackson is one of the favorites to win the MVP award again. Then again, maybe the lofty expectations put on the players and teams after a good season is really why people believe in a curse in the first place.

Von Miller, Melvin Gordon featured briefly in first ‘Madden 21’ trailer

Broncos linebacker Von Miller and running back Melvin Gordon have brief appearances in the new ‘Madden NFL 21’ commercial.

EA Sports released the first trailer for Madden NFL 21 this week and two Denver Broncos make brief appearances in the one and a half-minute promo.

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller (recording a sack) and running back Melvin Gordon (catching a pass) are both featured in the trailer.

Gordon and Denver quarterback Drew Lock participated in a Madden NFL 20 celebrity tournament hosted by ESPN earlier this offseason. Lock was eliminated in the first round but Gordon managed to win his first match.

After signing Gordon to a two-year contract during NFL free agency, the Broncos shared a Madden clip of Gordon wearing an orange and blue uniform. Gordon was rated 84 overall in last year’s version of the game.

Miller has consistently been Denver’s highest-rated player in the game since quarterback Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season. Last year, EA Sports gave Miller a 97 overall rating. To view all of the Broncos’ initial ratings from Madden NFL 20, click here.

Madden 21 trailer features Jordan Poyer, Bills (video)

Buffalo Bills and safety Jordan Poyer appear in Madden 21 trailer.

Every year, gamers can’t wait for the newest release of the Madden NFL video game. It’s a staple in the overall football community.

EA Sports released the trailer for this year’s game, Madden NFL 21, which features Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as the focal point as the cover player for this year’s edition.

In the trailer, we get a couple of moments with Buffalo Bills players. Unfortunately, only safety Jordan Poyer gets a good look here.

A Bills breakdown of the team in the Madden 21 trailer:

0:16: Jets running back Le’Veon Bell jukes by Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

0:44: 49ers pass rusher Dee Ford beats Bills offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe on the edge for clear look on Josh Allen.

0:54: Bills running back Devin Singletary is tackled at goal line by Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu.

0:59: Bills safety Jordan Poyer knocks a ball loose from Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and has a nice little celebration of his own.

1:05: Dolphins Matt Brieda running back puts a move on Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White.

Well, at least they thought of the Bills?

Regardless, check out the trailer here:

WATCH: Le’Veon Bell gets shifty in Madden 21 trailer

Jets running back Le’Veon Bell makes brief appearance in Madden 21 trailer.

While Le’Veon Bell is not on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden 21, he did make an appearance in the game’s trailer.

In the 1minute, 30-second video released by EA Sports on Tuesday, Bell is shown at about the 16-second mark. In his brief appearance, Bell puts a nasty juke move on a Buffalo Bills defender.

The Jets are going to want to see a lot of that from Bell in 2020. He wasn’t able to get in second gear enough last season, mainly because of the offensive line in front of him. However, it did look like Bell might have lost a step after sitting out all of 2018.

In Bell’s first season in New York, he recorded 789 rushing yards on 245 rushing attempts. Bell added 461 receiving yards as well to go along with four total touchdowns.

With a lighter workload and not as much pressure on his legs in 2020, the hope is that Bell can return to his Steelers form when he was one of the league’s top running backs.

Which Redskins player is most likely to score Madden Cover in next 5 years?

With the release of the Madden 21 gameplay trailer, we ranked the Redskins players most likely to grace the Madden cover in the future.

The gameplay trailer for EA Sports Madden 21 was released on Tuesday morning, showing a few new gameplay quirks such as an improved ball-carrier control stick, ‘clutch’ open-field tackling, and user-generated touchdown celebrations.

For brief moments, both Washington Redskins DE Chase Young, and RB Derrius Guice were featured in the 90-second clip, but any fan of the Burgundy & Gold couldn’t help but notice the absence of Terry McLaurin. While Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson graces the cover, which is set with an additional ‘MVP Edition’ available, it got us to thinking — who is the most likely player in Washington to be featured on the Madden cover one day? We decided to rank it out.

Before we get into the rankings, let’s look at which position players they normally give the covers to. Since the game started featuring NFL athletes on the front in 2000, these are the positions who have been put on the front:

Quarterback: 8

Running Back: 5

Wide Receiver: 4

Defensive Player: 3

Tight End: 1

With that being said, let’s get down to the rankings.

No. 1 — QB Dwayne Haskins

Shocker, right? He may not be the best player on the Redskins right now or even have the highest ceiling from skill-position players, but his path to a Madden cover is the most visible from here. All it would take for Haskins to become an NFL star and household name is to have a couple of great seasons, lead the Redskins on a deep playoff run, and be fun to watch while doing so. Those may seem like three big steps to take, but considering all of the buzz that we’ve heard from him this offseason, and the improvement we witnessed near the end of 2019, I don’t think Haskins becoming a legitimate NFL QB is as out of the question as you may think.

What if Haskins takes a step forward, Derrius Guice stays healthy, Terry McLaurin continues to thrive, and the defense is as dominant as expected? I’m not saying he’s going to be the cover athlete for Madden 22, but 23 or 24? I’d buy it. Haskins has the looks, he has the personality, and he has the style. Now he just needs the accolades to go along with it.
