Four prospects to watch for after Texas’ big recruiting weekend

Texas’ momentum has no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

No team in the entire country is as hot as Texas is on the recruiting trail. Steve Sarkisian and his staff enjoyed one of the most successful recruiting weeks in recent memory.

The Longhorns’ class ranking is up 22 spots from No. 27 to No. 5 after landing seven commitments in the last few days. Five-star quarterback Arch Manning got the ball rolling with his surprise announcement on Thursday and the domino effect quickly followed.

Texas capped off the weekend by landing a whooping five prospects on Sunday afternoon alone. Kyle Flood pulled off a clean sweep with four offensive linemen joining the class.

The newfound momentum has no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Texas is picking up crystal ball projections left and right for many top prospects in the state of Texas.

Four-star linebacker Liona Lefau is jumping on board Texas’ 2023 recruiting class. The Hawaii product chose the Longhorns over Pac-12 powers Oregon, USC and Utah.

247Sports ranks Lefau as the No. 1 player from Hawaii and the No. 16 linebacker in the nation. The commitment moves Texas’ class ranking firmly inside the top 20 in the country.

Lefau is a major pull for Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate as the linebacker spot is a position of need for Texas. He is an uber-athletic linebacker with strong sideline-to-sideline speed.

A look at Texas’ 2023 commitments with the addition of Will Randle

Texas is looking to stack another top-five recruiting class for the 2023 cycle.

Texas added to its 2023 recruiting class with the addition of three-star tight end Will Randle on Sunday. He becomes the seventh commit of Texas’ 2023 class which is currently ranked No. 24 in the nation.

He chose the Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Florida State and LSU.

The 6-foot-3, New Orleans product ranks as the No. 35 tight end in the nation and a top 25 player from the state of Louisiana according to 247Sports composite.

Randle’s commitment creates some recruiting momentum for Steve Sarkisian and his staff. Texas hosted a strong group of visitors over the weekend as the coaches continue to build relationships with their top targets.

Texas is looking to stack another top-five recruiting class for the 2023 cycle. The Longhorns remain in the mix for targets such as Arch Manning, Johntay Cook, Anthony Hill and multiple other five-stars.

Randle chose Texas over a strong offer list including Alabama, LSU, Florida State and Miami. He becomes the sixth member of Texas’ 2023 recruiting class, joining Spencer Shannon as tight ends in the group.

247Sports composite ranks Randle as the No. 35 tight end in the nation and a top 25 player from the state of Louisiana.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder profiles as a flex tight end or H-back at the college level. Randle is a three-sport star with the athleticism to thrive in Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

Landing Randle will no dought benefit Texas in the Arch Manning recruitment. The two are high school teammates and have taken many college visits together.

Defenive line coach Bo Davis is focused on signing another impressive haul in 2023.

One of the state of Texas’ best defensive line prospects made his way to Austin for an unofficial visit over the weekend.

Four-star defensive end Terrance Green is rated the No. 49 defensive lineman in the country for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 55 overall recruit in the Lone Star State in 247Sports composite rankings. He has an impressive offer list including the likes of Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Texas, USC and over 20 others.

Green racked up 40 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries in his junior season for Cy Woods High School. His 6-foot-5 projectable frame suits Green well for the collegiate level.

Defensive line coach Bo Davis is focused on signing another impressive haul in 2023. Landing a high-ceiling prospect like Green would go a long way towards strengthening the defensive front.
