WATCH: Sam Ehlinger takes off for a 44-yard TD run

Sam Ehlinger is showing off his wheels this preseason.

Sam Ehlinger continues to dominate the NFL preseason.

The Colts quarterback put together two nearly flawless outings in his first two performances. Ehlinger completed 19 of 22 passes for 224 yards and four touchdowns against the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills.

The former Texas quarterback wasted little time making his mark yet again in the Colts’ matchup with the Buccaneers on Saturday. Ehlinger got the nod coming out of halftime and took off for a 44-yard touchdown less than a minute into the third quarter. Sam showed his jets and move a couple of nifty moves on the way to the end zone.

His run extended the Indianapolis lead to 21-10 over Tampa Bay.

Ehlinger’s fantastic preseason play is putting pressure on the Colts to include him on the 53-man roster. Veterans Matt Ryan and Nick Foles are in front of Ehlinger on the depth chart. Other teams would likely be champing at the bit if Ehlinger were to hit waivers.

Sam Ehlinger put together a great showing in the Colts’ preseason opener against the Bills.

Sam Ehlinger’s second season in the NFL is off to a good start.

Ehlinger showed his ability to extend plays and find open receivers downfield. He rolled out to his right and threw a strike to Jelani Woods for his first touchdown of the game.

No. 11 struck again in the fourth quarter on a similar play in the red zone. A 12-yard touchdown pass from Ehlinger put the Colts up 23-10.

Ehlinger sits third in the Colts’ quarterback room behind proven veterans Matt Ryan and Nick Foles. Foles has been impressed with Ehlinger’s play during training camp.

Colt McCoy signs a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals

Colt McCoy will be back in Arizona for the next couple of years.

Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy is set to return to the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. McCoy will continue to serve as the backup to third-year starter Kyler Murray.

McCoy inked a two-year, $7.5 million contract on Monday which includes $6 million guaranteed upon signing. Making the 35-year-old one of the highest-paid backup quarterbacks in the NFL.

Bringing back McCoy was high on Kliff Kingsbury’s priorities going into the offseason. McCoy played a huge role as both mentor and player behind Murray a year ago. Even going 2-1 in three starts after Murray went down with an injury.

Without Colt proving to be a more than serviceable backup, Arizona likely would have been on the outside looking in for the 2021 playoffs. He kept the Cardinals season going in a positive direction at a crucial part of the year.
