Larry Fitzgerald joining ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown

ESPN lands another big name, Larry Fitzgerald

ESPN is busy adding former NFL players to its talent roster.

The WorldWide Leader will have Pat McAfee on “College Gameday” and now the New York Post reports Larry Fitzgerald will join “Monday Night Countdown.”

Per the report, Fitzgerald will do 5-7 shows in the 2022 season, similar to what Alex Smith did last year.

Fitzgerald played his entire NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals. He made 1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards. Of those catches, 121 went for touchdowns.

The slot on the panel opened when Randy Moss opted to only be on ESPN’s Sunday NFL programming.

Fitzgerald will make his debut Monday when the Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks.

11 days till the Cardinals’ 2022 season opener vs. Chiefs

There are 11 days till the Cardinals’ Week 1 game against the Chiefs. They likely will never have another player wear No. 11.

The Arizona Cardinals cut down their roster to 53 players and traded for a cornerback and now are preparing to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.

We are Larry Fitzgerald days (11 days) from the day the Cardinals take the field at State Farm Stadium to face the Chiefs and officially begin the 2022 season.

The last player to wear No. 11 is receiver Larry Fitzgerald. It is probably never going to be worn again. A few, though, have worn it before him. Check out the players who have worn No. 11 over the years.

Watch: Larry Fitzgerald speaks to Notre Dame

Nice choice of speaker.

Larry Fitzgerald is a sure-fire future Pro Football Hall of Famer. There’s no doubt that many current Notre Dame players grew up watching and admiring him. So it had to be a thrill for them when Fitzgerald came in and spoke to the team. Here is some of what he said:

It’s a little surprising to see Fitzgerald speak to this group considering he has no prior connections to Notre Dame. What’s more, the two games he played against the Irish for Pittsburgh as part of a home-and-home in 2002 and 2003 were very forgettable for him. In a pair of Irish victories, he accumulated only 83 and 79 receiving yards respectively. While he did score the Panthers’ only two touchdowns in the latter contest, it was not enough.

Whatever the reason for Fitzgerald speaking, it’s nice that he took the time to do it. The players undoubtedly will remember it for the rest of their lives. Now, it’s time for them to take his words to heart.

Future Hall of Fame wide receiver hosted as guest speaker this past week

Future NFL Hall of Fame WR Larry Fitzgerald took the time to speak with the players and coaches of the Alabama football program on Tuesday.

Alabama has been known to have celebrity guest speakers in the past. Athletes like Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez both took the time to speak with the Alabama football program. Other notable celebrities that have also been to Tuscaloosa are Mike Tyson and Michael Phelps. Phelps was speaking with the team on the third day of fall practice.

On Tuesday, future NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald spoke with the team. In one of Coach Saban’s press conferences, he spoke about some of the questions asked by the players to Fitzgerald and how he responded.

“One of the players asked (Fitzgerald), ‘How did you stay motivated when you had so much success for so long?’,” Saban shared. “And he said, ‘I love the process. I love watching film. I love to practice, I caught extra balls before practice, I ran routes with the quarterback after practice, I love the process. And then when the game came, it was really, really easy.'”

The product of Pittsburgh spent 17 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He was an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, First-team All-Pro (2008), and won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (2016). Those are just several of his many accomplishments in his profession.

He created the “Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund.” It was essentially established to educate the youth about HIV, AIDS, and breast cancer issues. Along with that, he also established the “Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund”, which supported families in crisis in places like Minneapolis and Phoenix. Fitzgerald has had a profound impact on and off the field.

Alabama Morning Drive: FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho has strong take on Tua and the Dolphins

The latest news and notes involving the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday morning!

Good morning, Tide fans and welcome to our Wednesday edition of Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone has had a good week so far as we have reached the halfway point.

This morning’s lead story is something that has been a bit of a hot topic for quite some time now, former Tide quarterback [autotag]Tua Tagovailoa[/autotag].

We all remember the incredible career that Tua had for Alabama before suffering what looked to be a career-threatening hip injury back in 2019. Since then, Tua has gone on to guide the Miami Dolphins to a 13-8 record while completing over 66% of his passes, but that has not been near enough to silence his doubters.

Emmanuel Acho of FS1 had a very strong and fact-filled opinion on Tua and what the Dolphins have (or have not) done to help build a strong team around the southpaw.

Check out Acho’s comments:

Budda Baker is one of Larry Fitzgerald’s favorite players to watch in NFL

Fitzgerald uses Baker as an example for his own children to follow and calls watching Baker play ‘”must-see TV”.

Arizona Cardinals fans have not gotten any formal announcement from former wide receiver legend Larry Fitzgerald about retirement from the NFL. While he is no longer playing, he still roots for the only team he ever played for.

He also loves watching one player on the Cardinals in particular — safety Budda Baker.

Fitzgerald tweeted how fun his Sundays are now being able to watch his favorite team. He enjoys being a fan and one player — safety Budda Baker — is one of his favorites to watch.

Baker was flattered and Fitzgerald took it even further, responding to the four-time Pro Bowler that he uses Baker as an example for his own children to follow.

Baker is an exciting player to watch. No one plays harder or faster.

While Baker often does not get a ton of love from analytical sites for player rankings, we can see why he gets so much respect around the league. When one of the all-time greats says watching him play is something we should do, then you pay attention.

Larry Fitzgerald believes Kyler Murray can lift Cardinals through tough 2022 schedule

The future Hall of Fame receiver says no one is as talented as Murray in the NFL.

Future Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald has not played in the NFL since the end of the 2020 season and appears to be retired, even if he won’t come out and admit it. However, when he talks about the Arizona Cardinals, the only team he played for, everyone still listens.

He likes what the Cardinals can do in 2022 and believes a lot in the talent of quarterback Kyler Murray.

He believes that Murray will be able to elevate the Cardinals.

“There’s nobody in the game that is as talented or has as diverse an array of abilities in terms of his athleticism, his ability to throw the ball going left or right,” Fitzgerald said on NFL Network while at Lake Tahoe for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. “He’s immensely talented. He’s a guy that everybody around the league has to prepare differently for.”

Fiz also likes the offensive talent around Murray.

“You bring in Hollywood (Brown) and Zach Ertz is now coming into his second year, better acclimated with the system. James Conner (is) fully healthy going back into the year,” he said. “I really like where they are.”

He admits they have a tough early part of the schedule with receiver DeAndre Hopkins suspended the first six games for testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance, but he feels Murray will take them through it.

“I know Kyler has the ability and the fortitude to lift this team up,” he said.

This is exactly what the next step is in Murray’s development. He is one of the league’s most dynamic players and offensive talents. Now, if he can elevate the team around him, the Cardinals will be true contenders for the playoffs and beyond.

Cardinals legend shows support for Hopkins, doesn’t think suspension will stain his legacy

An Arizona Cardinals legend expressed his support for former Clemson and current Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who will serve a six-game suspension when the 2022 season begins for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Longtime Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, an 11-time Pro Bowler and future first-ballot Hall of Famer, doesn’t believe the suspension will stain Hopkins’ legacy and still believes the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame after his playing career is over.

“He’ll still be a Hall of Famer,” Fitzgerald said of Hopkins to TMZ Sports. “He’ll work through it. It’s just some adversity and, you know, he’s a tough guy, resourceful, and he’ll work his way through it.”

Fitzgerald and Hopkins were teammates with the Cardinals in 2020, Fitzgerald’s final NFL season and Hopkins’ first season in Arizona after being traded from the Houston Texans.

Hopkins’ suspension was announced by the NFL on May 2, and Hopkins released a statement that night, saying he was “confused and shocked” upon learning he had tested positive for a banned substance.

For his career (2013-21), Hopkins has amassed 789 receptions for 10,581 yards and 68 touchdowns.
