Former NFL players react to video of Cam Newton brawl

Guys who have played with and against Cam Newton think it’s a bad idea to try to fight Cam Newton.

So, is trying to fight Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton a good idea? Well, maybe we should see what some of his old teammates and opponents think.

On Sunday, a video of Newton appearing to be attacked by multiple individuals at his 7v7 event in Atlanta went viral. The clip made the rounds to former NFL players, who had the following to tweet about the wild incident:

Emmanuel Acho says 2 plays show that Russell Wilson can succeed under Sean Payton

Emmanuel Acho broke down two plays that he believes show Russell Wilson will learn from mistakes and have success under Sean Payton.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson received mixed reviews for his 2023 preseason debut on Friday, but objective fans and pundits seem to agree that the quarterback’s performance was mostly positive overall.

Emmanuel Acho, who played in the NFL from 2012-2015, saw enough on Friday night to believe Wilson can have success under new head coach Sean Payton in 2023. In fact, Acho only needed two plays to reach that conclusion.

Acho showed two plays in which the Arizona Cardinals ran a “Cover 0” defense with seven rushers and just four defensive backs in coverage. After failing to complete a pass in the first scenario, Wilson picks up a first down (and touchdown) the second time Arizona did the same blitz.

“The Broncos will make mistakes,” Acho says in the video. “Russell Wilson will make mistakes. Sean Payton will make mistakes. But the key of having a veteran quarterback and a veteran coach is, can they learn from their mistakes within each game and from week to week?”

J. T. O’Sullivan, who played in the NFL, Canada and Germany from 2002-2012, also shared a lengthier breakdown of Wilson’s performance on his YouTube channel, “The QB School.” His 15-plus-minute review can be seen below.

Wilson will get an opportunity to build on Friday’s performance when the Broncos go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.

Emmanuel Acho thinks Pete Carroll needs more confidence

A lot of football commentary is noise and nonsense.

A lot of football commentary is noise and nonsense. That’s just the nature of the business, especially for TV channels that need to somehow fill 24 hours with new content every day.

Observe former Eagles linebacker and current “analyst” Emmanuel Acho on FS1 saying Seahawks coach Pete Carroll needs more confidence heading into his team’s Wild Card matchup with the 9.5-point favorite 49ers. Watch and laugh.

This is just theater, so there’s no reason to get upset over Acho’s commentary.

Carroll is the most irrationally confident coach in the NFL and admitting the 49ers are a “frickin juggernaut” doesn’t change that.

NFL analyst still believes that Tua Tagovailoa can ‘snap back’

It’s been a rough stretch.

Through the first 12 weeks of the season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a legitimate candidate for the league’s MVP.

He obviously missed time during that stretch with a serious concussion injury that was the talk of the NFL for a while, but he still started nine games and brought the Dolphins to an 8-1 record in those starts.

Tagovailoa began the season completing 69.7% of his attempts for 2,564 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions with a league-leading 115.7 passer rating.

Since then, he’s fallen back down to Earth.

Over this four-game losing skid, he’s completed just 52.6% of his passes for 984 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions with an 80.5 passer rating.

Faith that Tagovailoa can lead the Dolphins both into the postseason and on run has dwindled for a group that was once the top seed in the entire conference.

However, former NFL linebacker-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho, who’s been a staunch defender of Tagovailoa, still believes that the quarterback can get things fixed.

These two final regular season games are not easy for Miami. Both the New York Jets and New England Patriots are division rivals that always play their division opponents tough, and they also have two of the league’s better defenses.

If the Dolphins, and especially Tagovailoa, want to prove Acho right and the naysayers wrong, it starts next week, and there won’t be much room for mistakes like throwing three interceptions in the fourth-quarter of a winnable contest.

4 takeaways from Chargers’ victory over Dolphins

The win was the Los Angeles Chargers’ first victory this season against a team with a winning record.

In a must-win game to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Chargers beat the Dolphins on Sunday night.

Here are a few of my takeaways from the game.

Top Twitter reactions from Chargers’ victory over Dolphins

How the internet reacted to the Chargers’ win over the Dolphins on Sunday night.

Justin Herbert shined, and the defense, which was down six starters, stepped up in the Chargers’ 23-17 victory over the Dolphins.

Here’s how the internet reacted to Week 14 showdown:

Chargers respond to Emmanuel Acho calling Justin Herbert ‘social media quarterback’

The Chargers continue to prove they have one of the best social media teams.

Former NFL linebacker and current analyst for Fox Sports Emmanuel Acho has made headlines this season for his takes. In this case, for his strong dislike of Justin Herbert.

But recently, Acho raised eyebrows after calling Herbert a “social media quarterback,” meaning Herbert makes special throws that go viral on social media, which leads to people overlooking his bad moments.

This remark specifically came after last Sunday’s 30-27 loss to the Chiefs, when Herbert threw an interception with 26 seconds remaining that sealed the game.

“On social media, they don’t show you interceptions. That’s not fun,” Acho said. “People aren’t gonna retweet a pick. People aren’t gonna retweet a bad sack. People aren’t gonna retweet a bad decision. That’s who Justin Herbert is, a social media quarterback.”

The Chargers, who have one of the best social media teams in all of sports, made a response on Twitter. They mocked Acho for his comments and created a compilation video of Herbert, including him at the Pro Bowl last year.

WATCH: NFL analyst explains why he prefers Tua over Justin Herbert

Watch as NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho explains why he prefers Tua over Justin Herbert!

I don’t ever remember a young quarterback enduring as much scrutiny as former Alabama Crimson Tide star and now Miami Dolphins signal caller [autotag]Tua Tagovailoa[/autotag].

From the get-go, Tua has been behind the eight-ball in his NFL career. He began by still overcoming a nearly career-ending hip injury. Then, the roster around Tagovailoa was poor, to say the least.

Now in his third season in the league, Tua is showing why he was once garnered as one of the future stars of the NFL.

Emmanuel Acho of Fox Sports has had enough of the Tua slander. On Thursday, Acho released a video on his Twitter account letting fans around the world know just where he stands on the southpaw from Hawaii.

I’ll give you a hint, he likes him some Tua! Below is the video where Acho explains why he prefers Tua over fellow 2020 first-round draft pick Justin Herbert.

Alabama Morning Drive: FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho has strong take on Tua and the Dolphins

The latest news and notes involving the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday morning!

Good morning, Tide fans and welcome to our Wednesday edition of Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone has had a good week so far as we have reached the halfway point.

This morning’s lead story is something that has been a bit of a hot topic for quite some time now, former Tide quarterback [autotag]Tua Tagovailoa[/autotag].

We all remember the incredible career that Tua had for Alabama before suffering what looked to be a career-threatening hip injury back in 2019. Since then, Tua has gone on to guide the Miami Dolphins to a 13-8 record while completing over 66% of his passes, but that has not been near enough to silence his doubters.

Emmanuel Acho of FS1 had a very strong and fact-filled opinion on Tua and what the Dolphins have (or have not) done to help build a strong team around the southpaw.

Check out Acho’s comments:

Emmanuel Acho snubs Justin Jefferson in top-5 WR rankings

Jefferson doesn’t even crack the top-five in Acho’s receiver rankings.

Justin Jefferson can’t please everyone.

The Minnesota Vikings star receiver only came in second behind Cooper Kupp for the most receiving yards (1,616) in the NFL in the 2021 season.

He also broke Odell Beckham Jr.’s record for most receiving yards in his first two seasons, along with coming within 17 yards of breaking Randy Moss’ single-season franchise touchdown record.

Despite all of those accolades over the course of a season, Jefferson still failed to make FOX Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho’s top-five receiver rankings.

It’s important to note that Acho prefaced his rankings on social media with a reminder that Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins is missing because of his suspension.

So that likely means Jefferson wouldn’t even make Acho’s top-six list of receivers, if Hopkins was available.

Marcellus Wiley’s list definitely looks like the better of the two, even though it’s hard to envision any receiver rankings without Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill.

But from a Vikings perspective, it’s hard to imagine Jefferson’s position among the NFL’s elite even being questioned. Another year under his belt will bring about terrifying improvements.

And now, he’ll be playing under the thumb of a Super Bowl-winning head coach that served as the mastermind behind the offense that facilitated Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp’s historically great season.

By the end of 2022, there may be no more questioning Jefferson.
