We’re looking at highlights and notes from the Baltimore #Ravens second and final joint practice with the Washington Commanders via @Thacover2NFL

The Ravens and Commanders hooked up for the second of two joint practices at the Under Armour Performance Center.

It was a difficult day with the news that Marlon Humphrey needed to have foot surgery that would require a month of rehab.

The Baltimore defense picked up the slack, pressuring Sam Howell throughout the 11-on-11 period.

Here are highlights and notes from Day 2.

The Baltimore Ravens held another round of voluntary organized team activities on Tuesday in Owings Mills, Maryland. Some of the top Ravens wide receivers were absent, however, newly signed wide receiver Laquon Treadwell was present, as was Nelson Agholor.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was also at practice, trying to learn the new offense under offensive coordinator Todd Monken before training camp begins. Head coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media about Lamar Jackson building the offense with Todd Monken and the rest of the coaching staff, calling it an “evolution”.

“Yes, it is the evolution, and it’s something that he [Lamar Jackson] … We’ve been in that world before, but not to this degree. To me, the offense starts in that world more than it did before, and I’m excited about that, [and] I know Lamar is excited about that. He and I have had conversations about it. Obviously, [offensive coordinator] Todd [Monken] is right in there with [quarterbacks coach] Tee [Martin] coaching the offense to the quarterbacks; that’s been really good. We’ve had a lot of one-on-one sessions, in terms of just how we’re going to operate and how the quarterbacks need to operate. I think you saw today [that] the communication is probably better than what you saw last week, so we’ve just got to keep building on that.”

49ers hosting free agent WR Laquon Treadwell

The #49ers are hosting a former first-round WR on a visit:

The 49ers could be aiming to add some wide receiver depth to their offseason roster. While WR could certainly be a target in the NFL draft, they’re also exploring the free agent market and hosting WR Laquon Treadwell on a visit per NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

Treadwell hasn’t been able to put it all together as a pro since being selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2016 draft. Across seven seasons he’s been with four teams and posted 110 catches for 1,226 yards and five touchdowns.

He was with the Vikings for four years before bouncing to the Falcons, Jaguars and Seahawks. Treadwell’s best year came with the Jaguars in 2021 when he hauled in 33 catches for 434 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. Last year he was with Seattle for six games and caught six balls for 42 yards.

If the 49ers are going to make any free agency adds at WR, Treadwell is the exact type of player who makes sense. He’s a former first-round pick who could conceivably revitalize his career with the San Francisco. The potential reward far outweighs the low risk. And with just seven WRs on the offseason roster, it would be a surprise if there isn’t more depth added for the offseason.

Cowboys work out former first-round WR Laquon Treadwell

Treadwell was compared to DeAndre Hopkins coming out of Ole Miss, but hasn’t lived up to expectations over 7 seasons with 4 NFL teams. | From @ToddBrock24f7

The Cowboys held their annual “Dallas Day” workout on Friday, and among the local prospects to audition for the team were a few veteran players who are also looking for a new opportunity in the league.

Former first-round draft pick Laquon Treadwell laced up his cleats and did some work with the team, as first reported by 105.3 The Fan’s Cowboys insider Bobby Belt. ESPN’s Field Yates confirmed the news later in the day.

The 27-year-old wide receiver was selected 23rd overall in 2016 and played for four seasons in Minnesota, though he never lived up to high expectations that saw him compared to DeAndre Hopkins prior to the draft.

After a single season in Atlanta, scoring two touchdowns in 2020, the Ole Miss product moved on to Jacksonville, where he logged a career-high 434 receiving yards in 2021. Treadwell spent last season in Seattle, appearing in just six games.

Dallas is still searching for additional wide receiver depth, even after trading for free agent Brandin Cooks earlier this month. While Cooks is expected to form a talented trio with CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, the list of names behind them on the Cowboys depth chart is largely untested.

Jalen Tolbert, Simi Fehoko, and return specialist KaVontae Turpin make up the main backups at receiver; Antonio Callaway, Dontario Drummond, and Dennis Houston have been practice-squad players. Longtime Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton is currently a free agent whose status for 2023 is technically unknown.

Despite Treadwell’s availability and first-round pedigree, Dallas is apparently in no hurry to add him to the 2023 roster. NFL insider Josina Anderson tweeted Friday afternoon that the Cowboys “don’t have imminent plans to sign” Treadwell, citing a source.

The team is expected to also consider several wide receivers in next month’s draft.

Every 23rd overall NFL draft pick since 2000

The Minnesota Vikings are set to pick at 23rd overall. Here is every pick at that selection since 2000.

The Minnesota Vikings are picking at 23rd overall in the first round with that being their first of five picks. If last year’s draft tells us anything, the Vikings won’t be picking at any of those spots.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah made a number of trades and acquired all 10 picks he made on draft day. Even with that, it is worth looking at the history of the Vikings current picks to see what kind of success rate it’s had recently.

Over the last 22 years of the NFL draft, there have been some really successful picks at 23rd overall. Let’s take a look at those picks.

Minnesota Vikings history at each of their 2023 draft picks

The Minnesota Vikings have 5 picks in the 2023 NFL draft. See their history at each of their selections.

The Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to pick five times in the 2023 NFL draft. That would be he least amount of picks the Vikings have made since they selected five times in both 2008 and 2009.

Over the 62 year history of the Vikings, they have never made fewer than five draft picks, while making an NFL record 15 seletctions in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Vikings picks currently sit at 23, 87, 119, 158 and 211 and they have made a combined 11 picks at those selections. Here are how the Vikings have picked at each spot

Vikings have a complicated history at pick number 23

The Vikings have selected at pick number 23 four times in their history and it’s a mixed bag of returns

The NFL draft is known as a crap shoot. You can find a hall of fame player just about anywhere but being able to identify them is the biggest challenge. Some teams can find great talent anywhere while others struggle to find good players in round one where it’s the easiest to identify those talents.

The Minnesota Vikings have seen all forms of both success and failures and their track record at the 23rd overall pick is the epitome of just that. They have made four total selections at the 23 in franchise history and it’s a complicated one.

Seahawks announce 3 roster moves going into Week 16

Here’s a quick review.

The Seattle Seahawks find themselves a bit thin at wide receiver heading into the holiday. Tyler Lockett is dealing with a broken hand and Dee Eskridge doesn’t appear to be any closer to returning from injured reserve.

So, the team announced a trio of roster moves. Here’s a quick review.

The Seahawks are signing wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to their active roster for the rest of the season, according to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN. Treadwell has been on Seattle’s practice squad for the last several weeks and has been elevated for a few games.

Treadwell is a former first-round pick by the Vikings who has five career touchdowns. He’s played three games for Seattle this year, posting one catch for one yard.

The Seahawks need Treadwell due to a hand injury for Tyler Lockett. First reported as a broken finger, we now know that Lockett is dealing with a broken hand that will require surgery. Coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday he’s hopeful that Lockett can return before the season ends.
