Saints could face adverse weather conditions in their Week 16 matchup

The Saints could be facing some adverse weather conditions in Week 16, as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers

The New Orleans Saints do not face much cold weather, being from Louisiana and playing indoors pretty much rules that out for home games and their division is typically in warm locations as well (with the exception of occasional late-season games with the Carolina Panthers).

However, In Week 16 they could be facing cold weather in their matchup, as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. As of right now, the weather predictions from multiple weather outlets place this game well below freezing, with the following being predicted by the respective sources:

  • The Weather Channel: Monday will be a high of 33 degrees, low of 28 degrees with a 24% chance of snow or sleet throughout the day. High chance of snow Thursday as well before freezing temps Friday through Sunday.
  • Google Weather: Monday will be a high of 29 degrees, low of 25 degrees with a 35% chance of precipitation, likely snow.
  • AccuWeather: Monday will be a high of 28 degrees, low of 24 degrees with a 65% chance of precipitation, likely snow.
  • National Weather Service: No direct weather for Monday as of yet, but 6-10 day outlook expects temperature to be near or slightly below average for this time of year.

Ultimately, there is an extremely high chance of this being what is constituted as a “cold-weather game”, meaning it is below 32 degrees at kickoff. According to Stathead Football, the Saints have played 15 such games in their existence, and have a 6-9 record overall in those matchups. However, they are 2-0 in their most recent of these matchups, which were in 2022 against the Cleveland Browns (6 degrees at kickoff, 17-10 victory) and 2010 against the Cincinnati Bengals (32 degrees at kickoff, 34-30 victory).

Of these 15 matchups, two have been at Lambeau Field, the first in 1971 (30 degrees at kickoff, 29-21 victory), and the second was 1976 (31.8 degrees at kickoff, 27-32 loss). This will be the first time however (pending the temperature) that the Saints have ever played a “cold-weather game” on Monday Night Football. Ultimately we will see if they can handle the temperature regardless, and the potential snow, as they get what could be their final primetime game of the 2024 season.

Tua Tagovailoa ‘excited to kill narratives’ at frigid Lambeau Field

A cold night at Lambeau Field? “Bring it on,” says Tua Tagovailoa.

When the Miami Dolphins head to Wisconsin for a Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, the weather forecasts project an unsurprisingly chilly night at Lambeau Field.

According to The Weather Channel, the Dolphins should expect the temperature to be in the 20s at kickoff with wind gusts that’ll make it feel even colder. Tua Tagovailoa says he’s ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited to kill narratives, so let’s go. Bring it on,” Tagovailoa said Sunday after a 34-19 win against the New England Patriots. “We’ll enjoy this win, but this next one is going to be big for us, and we’re excited to go down to Green Bay and show everybody on primetime what we can do.”

The Dolphins have earned a reputation for high octane offense in the South Florida sunshine, but an inability to keep it firing on all cylinders it in the cold. Last season, Miami led the NFL in offensive yardage and was second in scoring, but their year came to an end with a 26-7 playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in freezing weather.

“Cold weather game. It’s going to be real football weather,” Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle said of the upcoming game in Green Bay. “They’re bringing their best. We’re bringing our best. Thursday night football, man, that’s what it’s all about.”

The Dolphins are riding a three-game win streak that has pulled them from a 2-6 start to the year into contention for a spot in the playoffs. But the Packers improved to 8-3 on Sunday with a blowout win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Failures in cold weather isn’t the only narrative the Dolphins will have to shake. The team also has a reputation for winning against subpar opponents, but failing to beat contenders.

Last season, the Dolphins were 10-1 against teams that finished with a losing record and 1-5 against opponents that ended the year above .500. So far in 2024, the 5-5 Los Angeles Rams are the only team the Dolphins beat that have more than three wins.

Miami is trying its best to erase a rough start to the season and the team has found its groove in the last couple weeks. But Thursday will say a lot about whether or not the team has actually turned a corner.

Notre Dame to play annual game vs. Navy at Gillette Stadium in 2026

Make your travel plans now.

Whenever Notre Dame goes on the road to play Navy, a large venue always is in order. There’s a great deal that goes into the history of this rivalry, so a stadium worthy of it is a must.

Halloween 2026 will be the next time the Midshipmen act as the home team in this game, and a stadium new to both the rivalry and the Irish will enter the fold. During that season, the teams will meet at Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots and Revolution in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The Irish never have played at Gillette Stadium, and this rivalry never has had a game in the New England region. The Midshipmen made their first appearance at the stadium last year for the Army-Navy Game.

This is the second 2026 Irish road game to be scheduled at an NFL stadium. They will open the season against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The Irish and Badgers were to meet at the home of the Packers as part of the 2020 Shamrock Series, but COVID-19 squashed those plans. They ultimately met for that game in 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago, the home of the Bears.

Wisconsin football will not play the previously reported game at Lambeau Field in 2024

Wisconsin football will not play Northwestern at Lambeau Field in 2024

Wisconsin football will not play its game against Northwestern at Lambeau Field in 2024, contrary to a previous report.

The Wildcats released their 2024 schedule and game locations on Wednesday. Their first five home games will be at a temporary on-campus stadium, with the final two, against Ohio State and Illinois, at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Related: The 15 games that will define the 2024 Big Ten football season

This is a story because the university recently demolished the original Ryan Field as it began a project to build a new stadium. The construction will not be finished until 2026, so the Wildcats need to find a temporary home to play its games until that date.

According to the program’s official X account, that temporary stadium will be on campus in Evanston, Illinois. Unfortunately for Wisconsin Badgers fans, there will not be a trip to Lambeau Field in 2024.

Saints will play the Packers on Monday Night Football in December

The New Orleans Saints will play the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in December. It’ll be a cold night at Lambeau Field:

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman reports that the New Orleans Saints will visit the Green Bay Packers for a prime time game on Monday Night Football in Week 16, which should fall on Dec. 23.

So the Saints will get a late-season road trip to Wisconsin in winter. That’s going to be a challenging environment against a team that beat them last year, and that has playoff ambitions after reaching the postseason in 2023.

The Saints have been fortunate to avoid many cold-weather road games over the years, but they did a great job handling the elements in a below-freezing matchup with the Cleveland Browns in 2022. Let’s see if they can repeat that performance in the thick of the NFC playoff race this December.

Where will the 2025 NFL Draft be held?

Where is next year’s NFL Draft taking place?

The 2025 NFL Draft might seem like a good ways away, but it’ll be here before you know it.

As this year’s NFL Draft takes place in Detroit, next year’s draft will make a quick trip on the map to Green Bay, Wisconsin.

From April 24-26 next year, the 2025 NFL Draft will select its players around the Green Bay Packers Packers’ Lambeau Field and its Titletown community.

Names to watch in next year’s draft cycle include Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and cornerback Travis Hunter, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Tennessee defensive end James Pearce, among plenty others.

We’ll see who gets their NFL dreams fulfilled once the NFL Draft takes over Green Bay next April.

Badgers could return to Lambeau Field in 2024

Badgers could return to Lambeau Field in 2024

The Wisconsin Badgers football season is still a good distance away, but spring practice is on the horizon and therefore the intrigue for the 2024 campaign is heating up.

Amongst the teams that Luke Fickell’s squad is set to face off with in his sophomore campaign as head coach is Northwestern, who will be remodeling their football stadium and therefore, playing their home games at alternate locations.

According to Louie Vaccher of WildcatReport.com, Northwestern’s athletic director Derrick Gragg said that the Wildcats will be playing a home game at Lambeau Field (home of the Packers) in Green Bay this October.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that the game is guaranteed to happen, but in the end, if there is a team that it would make sense for them to square off with at Lambeau, it’d definitely be the Badgers.

Report: Wisconsin may play a road game at Lambeau Field in 2024

Report: Wisconsin may play a road game at Lambeau Field in 2024

The 2024 Wisconsin Badgers may play a road game at Lambeau Field in 2024, according to a report from Wildcat Report’s Louie Vaccher.

Vaccher wrote on ‘X’ Monday night that Northwestern athletic director Derrick Gragg ‘told Northwestern alumni in New York City last week that Northwestern will play a home game at Lambeau Field this year. He didn’t mention the opponent, but it would likely be Wisconsin on October 19.’

Related: Which Big Ten football team has the toughest conference schedule in 2024?

This report is not close to being confirmed by either school. But as BadgerExtra’s Jake Kocorowski put out, it is noteworthy that Packers president Mark Murphy was once Northwestern’s athletic director from 2003-2007.

Wisconsin’s 2024 football schedule is one of the toughest in the conference. The thought of playing Northwestern at Lambeau Field — a venue that is certainly friendly to Wisconsin — is certainly more attractive than that of playing the Wildcats at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois.

The Packers’ 2024 schedule is not yet released, but October 19 assumes to be a weekend when the team plays on the road.

Given both Wisconsin and Northwestern’s proximity to Green Bay, Wisconsin, this game shouldn’t be a challenge to pull off. This sounds like a terrific way to add juice to a game that usually lacks it.

25 SKOL’s of Christmas: Randy Moss moons Lambeau Field

The coolest moment in the Vikings’ history at Lambeau Field was Moss showing the crowd the moon

Welcome to the 25 SKOL’s of Christmas!

In a similar vein to how Freeform has done the 25 days of Christmas, we will look back at different moments in Vikings history to bring a little extra joy to you this holiday season.

It’s that simple. The holidays can be a trying time for some people and we want to put a smile on people’s faces by reminiscing about some truly joyous times in Vikings’ history.

On the twenty-third SKOL of Christmas, the Vikings gave to me: Randy Moss mooning Lambeau Field.

Joe Buck’s words will forever live in the minds of Vikings fans after that fateful touchdown celebration.

“That was a disgusting act by Randy Moss.”

To understand the rationale behind the moon, you have to know about the why.

In the 2004 season, Daunte Culpepper had a magical MVP-caliber season. With 39 touchdowns and a then NFL record 5,124 yards. In their first two games against the Green Bay Packers, they lost 34-31 in both contests. They got another shot in the 3-6 wild card matchup.

The game started off really well, as the Vikings had a 14-0 lead within the first five minutes. It went back and forth and the Packers were down just seven at 24-17 early in the fourth quarter.

That’s when Culpepper found Moss wide open on a go route from 34 yards out and Moss displayed his “fake” moon for all the world.

This came just one week after he left the field early against the Washington Commanders when the Vikings were about to attempt an onside kick. That had a sour taste in the mouths of many when talking about Moss, which led to a lot of vitriol.

The reason he ended up doing it was because of how the fans greet the Vikings’ team bus whenever they arrive at Lambeau Field: they moon them.

Moss was just getting a level of retribution on the fans that had heckled him for his entire career. It was relatively harmless that was overblown because of course it was.

I will say that for Vikings’ fans, it was one of the coolest moments in team history. I have a picture of it hanging in my basement.

Bucs speak on Lambeau Field trip in Week 15

Lambeau Field is a special place, but playing in the Frozen Tundra come December is never fun.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ last trip to the Frozen Tundra was a big success, resulting in an NFC Championship win. But that was the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 2023 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heading there once more to play the Green Bay Packers for the third year in a row. The team will face a daunting task, as playing at Lambeau Field in December can often be a harsh and brutal challenge. The weather actually doesn’t look too bad for Sunday’s matchup — it’s set to be 41 degrees with 83% humidity — but it remains a trial nonetheless for any who play there in the final frame of the season. Head coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Baker Mayfield both spoke on the upcoming game.

Head coach Todd Bowles briefly noted how cold the weather gets there, but he was more focused on the team — a team he noted plays well at this time of year in Green Bay.

“I’m sure the weather plays a part in some of the things they do, but they have a good football team. They’re very well coached and they finish up ballgames in December. We’re trying to finish up ballgames in December. I don’t know too much about the history that they had against the Buccaneers, but we’re going up there to win a game. This is this year’s Buccaneers and we’ve got to go by this year.”

Quarterback Baker Mayfield lamented that he has yet to play a game there outside of December. Mayfield is 0-2 at Lambeau field, having lost there as a member of the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams, and he also mentioned an aspect of the field that many may not think about — the grass.

“I’ve only played there in December, so yeah, it’s kind of hit or miss with the weather and what you’re going to get. Guys just have to be prepared for the grass. That’s something I learned pretty quickly – it’s slick. This late in the year, obviously it’s not in the best condition. It’s a little bit longer, so you’ve got to be ready for that. Then, in the football aspect, it’s a historical place. I grew up a huge Brett Favre fan, so the first time I got to go up there, I just kind of took it all in pregame. When it comes down to it, it’s still a football field when the game comes. It’s a special place to play and a great opportunity for us in this end-of-season push that we have coming on. They’re in a similar situation as us, so it’s going to be a good matchup.”

Playing at Lambeau Field is a special prospect for many. Bucs inside linebackers coach Larry Foote played there multiple times during his own NFL career, and he cited Lambeau (along with the Los Angeles Coliseum) as a stadium that has a special aura around.

“There are certain stadiums I was fortunate to walk in that just had an aura about [them] – the [Los Angeles Memorial] Coliseum and then Lambeau Field,” Foote said. “I don’t know, you’ve got to be there, but there is something special about those two places.”

The Bucs will take on the Packers there at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday in an attempt to get back to playing .500 football.
