NFL stadiums that will host 2026 FIFA World Cup matches

Here is a list of the NFL stadiums that will be hosting games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

FIFA announced June 16 that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in North America. The games will be the first time since 2002 that multiple nations will provide host cities.

Mexico will be hosting for the first time since 1986. The United States hosted in 1994. Canada gets its first crack at hosting the men’s tournament.

Of course, the United 2026 bid may not have prevailed if not for help from the NFL. With 11 of the 16 sites being the venues for NFL teams, it really helped make the case for bringing the FIFA World Cup to North America.

Here is a list of the NFL venues that will host games in 2026.

Report: Gillette Stadium wins bid to host 2023 Army-Navy game

Gillette Stadium will play host to one of college football’s longest-standing rivalry games

Gillette Stadium will play host to one of college football’s longest-standing rivalry games: Army vs. Navy. Surely, Bill Belichick — a huge Navy fan — is smiling to see the game land in his backyard.

Army and Navy will kick off at Gilette Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and The Kraft Group put in three bids to host the game, and finally they have seen that bid get accepted, per NBC’s Joe Kayata. Navy will stay in Providence and the game-day events will take place in Boston. Boston won its bid over the other finalists: Charlotte, North Carolina; Orlando, Florida; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.

The official announcement is expected on Wednesday afternoon.

Report: Gillette Stadium finalist for future Army-Navy game

Gillette Stadium could be a backdrop for one of college football’s greatest rivalries.

Gillette Stadium is a finalist to host a future Army-Navy football game, per NBC10’s Joe Kayata.

The Kraft Sports and Entertainment Group put in a multi-year bid for 2023 through 2027. The Rhode Island Convention Center would host Navy, while Army would drive up on the day of the game from West Point, New York.

The first meeting in the series was held on November 29, 1890. There have been 122 total meetings in the series, with Navy holding a 62-53-7 margin. Navy has the longest win streak in the series with 14 straight victories from 2002-2015.

Most recently, Navy won by a 17-13 margin on December 11, 2021. This year’s game will be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Gillette Stadium could be a fascinating backdrop for one of the greatest rivalries in college football. As for now, the waiting game begins.

Gillette Stadium’s newly installed video board is enormous

The bigger the better when it comes to these.

The Kraft family has been great when it comes to keeping Gillette Stadium up-to-date and competing with some of the newer venues. They added the Optum Field Lounge a few years back to provide a high-quality atmosphere for those interested in seeing the game from the ground level.

Now, Gillette Stadium is getting another addition with a massive video board under the team’s Super Bowl banners. And, despite the board being described as massive, the first pictures of it are pretty amazing.

The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin provided social media with one of the first looks of the new screen being installed in Foxboro.

This video board looks to be at least twice the size if not larger than the one that stood there before it. Fans, players, and coaches alike will get to relish the opportunity to view some of the replays as if they were at the screen of a drive-in movie theater.

Shoutout to the Kraft’s for keeping Gillette fresh and enjoyable.

Tom Brady, Cam Newton will make exciting returns to familiar stadiums in 2021

Both quarterbacks will see their former stadiums in different uniforms for the first time.

The 2021 season will be extremely fun for many different reasons, but it’ll be especially significant for these two MVP quarterbacks.

Cam Newton and Tom Brady will make returns to the stadiums they’re most used familiar with this year. Newton re-signed with the Patriots on Friday, likely ensuring the fact he’ll be on the roster and making his return to Bank of America Stadium to play the Carolina Panthers. Brady, a year after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will return back to Gillette Stadium for the first time in a different uniform.

Both players poured their hearts into the organizations and cities, meaning both reunions will be tremendously special and emotional.

The Brady vs. Bill Belichick matchup will be one for the ages.

Report: Gillette Stadium plans on hosting 16,000 fans for each Patriots game

The Patriots capacity guidelines for Gillette Stadium are becoming clearer.

The New England Patriots plan on having fans attend games during the 2020 season, despite the coronavirus pandemic. According to Dale Arnold of WEEI, the Patriots will have a 16,000 fan capacity for their games.

Last week, New England announced that the plan was for the Patriots “to host about 20 percent of its total capacity” for all home games this season.

Speaking on the “Dale and Keefe” show Monday, Arnold went into greater detail as to how the Patriots plan to make this happen. Right now, the schedule for preseason games is unclear. The first regular season game for New England would be Sept. 13 against a revamped Miami Dolphins team.

I’ve got a source who told me within the last few minutes that managers have been told in a meeting today to prepare for the NFL season to open on time down at Gillette Stadium and with fans. I was told they are planning for 16,000 fans per game.

As the season gets nearer, New England is ready to put its new-look team to the test. In more ways than one, it’s going to be a year unlike any other.

Gillette Stadium will hold 20% capacity for Patriots games this season

The Patriots answered some much-anticipated questions on Tuesday.

The 2020 NFL season still has many questions to be answered, but the New England Patriots provided some of their own information on Tuesday.

To begin, the Patriots will only ‘host about 20 percent of its total capacity’ for home games due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is on par with other NFL teams and is the only way to host a football stadium, while staying up with the rules and regulations.

Here’s what the team said:

“Pending state and local approval, should Gillette Stadium be allowed to have fans in the stands this season, it is expected to host about 20 percent of its total capacity. Ticketed parties will be asked to maintain physical distancing of at least six feet from other parties, tickets will be arranged in blocks of 10 seats or less, and the first eight rows of stadium seats will not be used. Additionally, face coverings will be required at all times inside the stadium to keep all attendees safe.”

Because of the inconvenience, parking will be free of charge for those who attend.

“Recognizing that some flexibility will be required by fans who attend games in these unique circumstances, the Patriots also announced that parking for 2020 home games will be free of charge in all Gillette Stadium parking lots. Additionally, walk-up sales at the Patriots ticket office will be suspended, and all tickets will be mobile.”

This season will look much different and it’s still very possible the NFL doesn’t find a way to make it happen in time. The Patriots are set to kick off on July 28, but there’s still some kinks to be worked out with that as well.

AFC East: Tom Brady, Bill Belichick have talk that ‘didn’t go well’ (report)

Reports indicate a phone call between Patriots QB Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick recently went bad.

One of the biggest free agent stories this off season is the landing spot of Tom Brady in 2020. Arguably one of the greatest to ever step on a football field, Brady has been a wrecking ball for the rest of the AFC East.

Since the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine last week, reports have mostly indicated that there’s a negative vibe between the team and Hall of Famer. The latest indicates more of that.

Per Patriots Wire, there was a conversation by phone between head coach Bill Belichick and Brady to work out some details pertaining to Brady returning to New England. Also, those same reports claim that the call did not sound good for a Brady return to the Patriots in 2020.

While this could be quite the bombshell, all reports should be taken with a grain of salt, until officially announced by the parties directly involved. There also has been no indication that the two sides won’t continue talking.

It’s understandable though, if you can look at this through the eyes of Brady. Brady has sacrificed a higher and fair salary for the sake of the team, and to put adequate talent around him, and this season, that did not occur. While other quarterbacks around the league have made significantly more money from their respective teams than he did, Brady could finally wants a return on his selflessness from a financial standpoint.

The report of the phone call however, corroborates with several stories that have come out since the conclusion of the Patriots season against the Titans over Wild Card weekend. There has been numerous discussions about Brady being unhappy with his situation in New England, and an apparent rift that has grown between himself and Belichick over the last several years.

Julian Edelman and Brady were even seen at a Syracuse basketball game last week, and an on-camera moment that raised some eyebrows. Edelman kept saying “He’s coming back, he’s coming back” to which Brady smirked and possibly said “he”s not” There was even video of a video chat between Brady and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, leading some to speculate that he might have a future in Tennessee.

Aside from Tennessee, there are several other potential and rumored destinations for the 42-year-old quarterback, including the Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and more recently, the San Francisco 49ers. Current betting odds have a return to New England as most likely, but followed closely by signing with the Raiders and Titans with many Las Vegas oddsmakers.

Whatever does transpire this off season between Brady and the Patriots organization, it will have ripple effects across the NFL, and sure to truly open up the competition in the AFC East next year, for the first time since the Brady-Belichick era began.

PODCAST: Bills turn attention to Wild Card weekend post-Patriots loss

Buffalo Bills podcast following 24-17 loss to New England Patriots.

The Bills couldn’t get the job done against the New England Patriots. Poor execution on the offensive side, with an inability to extend drives, led to exhaustion and sloppy play on the defensive side of the ball. The Patriots experienced one of their better games of this back half of the season against Buffalo on both sides of the ball.

For the Bills, it’s not the end of the world, fortunately. While the idea that they were in the race for a home playoff game in Week 16 was enticing, they’re still in the postseason, and they still have a shot. The only ways that Buffalo would see the Patriots again is one of two situations.

First, both the Bills and whoever is the sixth seed win. Lowest remaining seed goes on to face Baltimore, and Buffalo would end up facing New England in the divisional round. Secondly, if both Buffalo or New England win out, and they meet in the AFC Championship.

That all sounds good and well, but one game at a time has to be the mentality, and right now, despite a meaningless Week 17 game against the Jets, Buffalo is slated to face either Houston or Kansas City come Wild Card Weekend.

Billswire podcast host ost Matt Johnson recaps the Bills-Patriots game and looks ahead to Wild Card weekend:
