Four Spartans earn All-Big Ten Honorable Mention

See which Spartans received All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors this year

Michigan State football was shut out of the All-Big Ten offensive and defensive teams, but they did have a number of players earn Honorable Mention honors.

On the defensive side of the ball, three Spartans received All-Big Ten Honorable Mention: linebacker Jordan Turner, cornerback Charles Brantley and defensive end Khris Bogle. On the other side of the ball, only offensive lineman Luke Newman received All-Big Ten Honorable Mention for the Spartans.

Michigan State had a pair of special teams All-Big Ten selections in kicker Jonathan Kim and punter Ryan Eckley. Both players made the second team for the coaches, while Kim made the second team for the media and Eckley was third team.

Michigan State football finished the season with a 5-7 overall record and 3-6 mark in Big Ten play. The Spartans missed out on a bowl game for a third straight year and for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Watch a special feature video on MSU DL Khris Bogle

Michigan State football got a strong opening performance from its front seven last week, and part of that was because of Khris Bogle.

Bogle is in his final year with the Spartans after transferring to Michigan State from Florida ahead of the 2022 season. His role with the Spartans has been on the lighter end initially, but this year looks to be different after a solid opening night performance against Florida Atlantic.

Michigan State recently did a profile feature video on Bogle and how he handles himself off the field to perform better on it. Check out that video below:

Michigan State football DL Khris Bogle withdraws from NCAA transfer portal

Michigan State football DL Khris Bogle withdraws from NCAA transfer portal

When he took over at Michigan State football, head coach Jonathan Smith indicated that his staff would be working to retain a handful of players who had initially entered the NCAA transfer portal. One of those players was successfully brought back this week, when defensive lineman Khris Bogle removed his name from the portal.

Bogle, a former top-50 recruit, transferred to MSU in 2022 after spending three seasons with Florida.

2022 Florida Football Season Preview: Outside Linebackers

The Gators have a decent amount of depth at outside linebacker, but it’s Brenton Cox Jr. who leads the group heading into the 2022 season.

After going over the defensive linemen on the team in detail, it’s time to talk about Florida’s outside linebackers room heading into 2022.

These are the edge rushers of the team that are expected to cause havoc opposite of [autotag]Princely Umanmielen[/autotag] at the strongside defensive end spot. [autotag]Brenton Cox Jr[/autotag]. leads the group and is returning for his third year at Florida.

The Gators are only losing two players at the position, [autotag]Jeremiah Moon[/autotag] to graduation and [autotag]Khris Bogle[/autotag] to the transfer portal, and they added two freshmen in the most recent cycle. Florida still has plenty of depth on the edge, though. Cox should be good for 13 starts barring injury, and there’s a trio behind him that can do the job if he does need any rest.

Here’s a look at all eight outside linebackers/JACK/edge rushers on the 2022 Florida Gators football roster.

2022 Florida Football Season Preview: Defensive Line

One of the biggest question marks heading into the 2022 season for Florida might be the defensive line. There’s not a whole lot of experience to work with but there’s plenty of talent.

There’s less than a week left until Florida kicks off the 2022 college football season, and Gators Wire is breaking down the entire roster before kick-off. After working our way through the offense, it’s time to look at the defensive side of the ball, the unit that struggled significantly more in 2021.

First up is the defensive line, which includes both tackle positions and a strongside defensive end. [autotag]Gervon Dexter[/autotag] Sr. is the outright leader of the group following the departure of veterans such as [autotag]Zach Carter[/autotag] and [autotag]Khris Bogle[/autotag] among others. The position room is relatively young and inexperienced, leaving Dexter as the only player locked into a starting role.

The good news is that those young players should be ready to take a big step forward. It will become evident who can handle the increased workload and who can’t rather quickly, and the depth chart should be much more clear following the first few weeks of action. Still, we have a pretty good idea of what things will look like up front for UF against Utah on Saturday.

Here’s a look at all 12 offensive linemen on the Gators’ 2022 fall football roster. Edge rushers will be included with our breakdown of the outside linebackers on the team.
