Michigan State football picks up transfer safety Aveon Grose from Southern Illinois, brother of Angelo Grose

An unexpected name popped up on the list of transfers Michigan State is adding, and he’s the brother of a current Spartan

Michigan State football officially announced their transfer portal class who have enrolled for classes for the 2024 spring semester, and there was one surprising name on that list. Aveon Grose, a transfer safety from Southern Illinois and brother of Spartan cornerback Angelo Grose, was included on the list.

Grose spent last year with Southern Illinois, and the year before that was with Charlotte. He was a 3-star safety in the 2022 recruiting class.

Michigan State football DB Angelo Grose’s attorney responds to charges

Angelo Grose’s attorney has responded to the charges filed against the MSU DB:

Charges have been filed by a Wayne County prosecutor’s office following the tunnel incident that occurred at Michigan Stadium following the rivalry game between Michigan State and Michigan.

Angelo Grose was one of the Michigan State players that was charged with a misdemeanor aggravated assault.

Following the prosecutor’s office going public with the charges, Grose’s attorney, David Diamond, responded with an official statement:

Mel Tucker releases official statement, announces suspensions after UM tunnel altercation

Mel Tucker releases statement, initial suspensions as a result of tunnel altercation at Michigan Stadium

Mel Tucker has released a statement regarding his team and its involvement in the altercation in the Michigan Stadium tunnel following the Michigan State and Michigan rivalry game on Saturday night.

In the statement, Tucker revealed Itavion ‘Tank’ Brown, Angelo Grose, Zion Young and Khary Crump were suspended for their actions in the tunnel until the conclusion of investigations by the schools, law enforcement and the Big Ten.

Additional student athlete participation and contributing factors are being investigated.

During his interview at the Big Ten’s media day, Tucker spoke highly of the former 3-star recruit, and unveiled a new nickname for the defensive back: Sugar Weasel.
