Four-star QB Deuce Knight locks in visit to Auburn

The saga involving Auburn and Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight continues.

The saga involving Auburn football and 2025 QB [autotag]Deuce Knight[/autotag] continues.

Knight, a four-star quarterback from George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi, has been locked in with Notre Dame since Sept. 18, 2023, but Auburn has remained persistent in its pursuit of the talented signal caller. So much so that several recruiting experts have submitted predictions for the Tigers to flip Knight from Notre Dame.

The speculation of said flip has grown even more this week. According to Steve Wiltfong of On3, Knight has scheduled a visit to the Plains for the Tigers’ season opener against Alabama A&M on Aug. 31.

Wiltfong shares that Knight is interested in playing for an SEC program, which has caused Auburn and a home-state school, Ole Miss, to remain in the picture. Knight’s relationships with head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and director of recruiting research and strategy [autotag]Kenyatta Watson[/autotag] have grown over the past year, and he has gotten to know Auburn’s talented freshmen receivers on a more personal level. Those aspects of his recruitment have led to the speculation that Knight could end his recruitment as a member of Auburn’s 2025 signing class.

Knight is a four-star rated quarterback by every major recruiting outlet and ranks as high as No. 2 at his position nationally. At the time of this post, Auburn has a 74.6% chance to flip Knight from his pledge to Notre Dame according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

4 CFB cornerbacks who Cowboys should be keeping an eye on

All of a sudden, Dallas’ future at cornerback is murky. Here’s a look at several prospects who, while not necessarily first-round material, should be on their draft radar. | From @TimLettiero

Two weeks into the season, Dallas boasted arguably the best corner tandem in the league in the recently paid Trevon Diggs and former DPOY Stephon Gilmore. That all came crashing down in a hurry with Diggs sadly missing the remainder of the 2023 season. The current depth chart isn’t bare, with solid veteran Jourdan Lewis and second-year man DaRon Bland already having an interception to add to his team-leading five in 2022. After them, however, it gets questionable.

Nahshon Wright barely hung on to his roster spot while Kelvin Joseph has already been swapped out for another out-of-favor corner in Noah Igbinoghene. Late-round rookie Eric Scott Jr. has made the 53-man roster but will have to fight with numerous veterans for any playing time. Looking ahead, Gilmore and Lewis are free agents and Diggs’ recovery from ACL could take many directions. Suddenly, cornerback is a need for Dallas in 2024.

Depending on the development of the young guys and the regression and price tag of Gilmore, Dallas might not prioritize targeting the position early come next year’s draft, but it will certainly be a Day 2 or early Day 3 consideration. Here are some under-the-radar names to pay attention to who can help for the long term.

The latest Locked on Longhorns Podcast brings you overreaction Monday after falling 33-31. Who is to blame and what is next for Texas?

The Texas Longhorns had an opportunity to take hold of their fate with a win over Texas Christian. After losing 33-31, the Locked on Longhorns Podcast discusses a frustrating game on Saturday. In the first segment, the topic of the offense. Who stood out on that side of the ball? Quarterback Sam Ehlinger had one of his worse games, not quite last year against TCU bad. So what is going on with the offense? Why didn’t Bijan Robinson get on the field?

In segment two it is all about the defense. The team looked different after Juwan Mitchell was ejected for targeting. It showed the lack of depth at the linebacker spot. One that needs to be corrected quickly with Oklahoma looming on Saturday. DeMarvion Overshown once again led the team in missed tackles. When will they get this fixed?

We discussed the Red River Shootout in the final segment. Is this a must win game for both teams. The Longhorns are 2-1 (1-1) and the Sooners are 1-2 (0-2), so who needs this game more?
