Georgia RB Kendall Milton out for remainder of spring practice

Kendall Milton out with a hamstring injury…

Georgia football will finish out the remainder of spring practice without rising senior running back Kendall Milton due to a hamstring injury, according to a report from 247Sports.

Milton is expected to contend for the starting running back role with rising senior Daijun Edwards and rising sophomore Branson Robinson.

The 6-foot-1, 220 pound tailback dealt with a similar injury that kept him out of two games during the 2022 season.

Milton was able to battle back from the injury and finished the year as the Bulldogs third leading rusher with 592 yards and eight touchdowns on 85 carries.

The Fresno, Cal., native’s 7.0 yards per carry average led all SEC running backs in 2022.

Milton’s setback opens the door for more spring opportunities for Edwards, Georgia’s second-leading rusher last season, Robinson and redshirt freshman Andrew Paul, who suffered an ACL tear in the 2022 preseason.

The Dawgs will take the field at the annual ‘G-Day’ spring game in Sanford Stadium on April 15.

Georgia’s Kendall Milton ranked among top returning RBs

Milton comes in at No. 19…

Georgia senior running back Kendall Milton will have a primary role in the Bulldogs’ offense in the 2023 season after the departure of starter Kenny McIntosh to the NFL.

Milton battled injuries in 2022 and miss two games, but managed to finish third on the team in rushing with 592 yards on 85 attempts (7.0 yard avg.) with eight touchdowns.

247Sports recently named their Top-25 returning running backs for next season with Milton coming in at No. 19.

“En route to another national championship, Georgia relied on two-headed monster in Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton. McIntosh will soon be playing on Sundays while Milton is back in Athens, meaning he could be a household name this fall if things go according to plan. Milton had just 85 carries for 592 yards but scored eight touchdowns. What will he do if he receives a bulk of the carries in 2023?”

Other SEC running backs named here are Auburn’s Jarquez Hunter (No. 24),  Tennessee’s Jaylen Wright (No. 20), Florida’s Montrell Johnson Jr. (No. 18), Arkansas’ Raheim Sanders (No. 3) and Ole Miss’ Quinson Judkins (No. 2).

Milton has shown flashes of ability over his three year career in Athens while battling for playing time among upperclassmen.

The former four-star recruit out of Clovis, Cal., is in line for a starting role in 2023 and will share playing time with senior Daijun Edwards and sophomore Branson Robinson.

The Bulldogs will also have support from redshirt freshman Aaron Paul, who missed the 2022 season with an ACL tear, and incoming true freshman Roderick Robinson, who is rated as the No. 13 running back in the 2023 class.

Know your foe, Georgia: Which Bulldogs could give Ohio State problems in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

These dogs have bite #GoBucks

As we inch closer to game time, we need to look a bit more into who is going to be on the opposite sidelines from our Ohio State Buckeyes. The Georgia Bulldogs have been fantastic over the last two seasons, dropping just one game while winning last year’s College Football Playoff.

The [autotag]SEC[/autotag] only sent one team to this year’s CFP but as the one seed. There are tons of playmakers for UGA and a lot of credit goes to quarterback [autotag]Stetson Bennett[/autotag], tight end [autotag]Brock Bowers[/autotag], and defensive tackle [autotag]Jalen Carter[/autotag]. We won’t touch on those players because as we all know about them. Here are five other Bulldogs that could give [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] problems on New Year’s Eve in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Saturday night.

Stock Up, Stock Down: Where do the Tigers stand after the SEC Championship loss to Georgia?

From the good (Garrett Nussmeier) to the bad (more costly special teams mistakes) here’s how things are trending after Saturday’s loss.

It is hard enough to beat the No. 1 team in the country and the reigning national champions when you get a break here and there, but when the ball doesn’t roll your way in a game against Georgia, the ‘Dawgs make you pay.

LSU looked like they would get on the board first against Georgia when the Tigers attempted a field goal in the first quarter but that field goal got blocked. Not only did it get blocked, but Georgia also took it back for a kick-six.

When that is how the game gets started, you know you’re in for a rough game. Georgia held on to its No. 1 spot with a 50-30 win over LSU in the SEC Championship Game.

Here’s where things are trending after the game.

Kendall Milton from the one… Dawgs 14-0

No. 1 Georgia is leading South Carolina 14-0 after scoring on both of its possessions in the first quarter.

The second drive went 5 plays for 43 yards and was capped off by a one yard score from running back Kendall Milton.

The game is live right now on ESPN.

UGA freshman RB out for the season with torn ACL

Who has to step up following the injury to freshman RB Andrew Paul?

Georgia Bulldogs true freshman running back Andrew Paul is expected to take a redshirt during the 2022 season after suffering a torn ACL. Paul suffered the unfortunate injury during Georgia’s second fall scrimmage.

Now, Georgia will rely more heavily on freshman running back Branson Robinson. The Bulldogs are hoping that junior running back Kendall Milton can heal up ahead of the season opener against the Oregon Ducks on Sept. 3. Milton has missed practice time with a hamstring injury that is not too serious.

Georgia has lost some depth at offensive skill positions this offseason and is a little banged up at wide receiver and running back. Fortunately, Georgia has excellent depth in the backfield with Kenny McIntosh and Daijun Edwards as other reliable options at the position.

Andrew Paul is a former three-star running back recruit. He played high school football for Parish Episcopal in Dallas, Texas.

The Parish Episcopal standout had 2,612 rushing yards and 44 total touchdowns in his senior high school season.

Andrew Paul was a late signing in Georgia’s class of 2022. Interestingly, Georgia will face Oregon freshman running back Jordan James, who flipped his commitment from Georgia to Oregon, in the season opener. James was a four-star recruit.

NIL valuations for Georgia’s most valuable players

These NIL valuations for Georgia players will blow your mind

On3 has released its NIL Valuation Rankings, which sets the standard market NIL value for college athletes.

Taking into account a player’s performance, exposure and influence, On3 calculates an athlete’s NIL value, projecting out to as long as 12 months into the future.

On3’s “NIL100” ranks the 100 most valuable college football players in America. The most valuable college football player in America is Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, with an NIL valuation of $3.1M, $700K larger than Ohio State’s CJ Stroud who is tied for second on the list.

On3 also looks at high school prospects, where Arch Manning’s valuation is at $3.4M, making him the most valuable football player in America on either the high school or collegiate level. Sierra Canyon’s Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, has the largest NIL valuation of anyone at $6.4M.

The Georgia Bulldogs have nine players on the list, including five in the top-50:

CBS Sports names Georgia RB as potential CFB breakout star for 2022

CBS Sports named Georgia RB Kendall Milton a potential breakout star for the 2022 season

CBS Sports recently released a list of four potential breakout stars for the 2022 college football season.

On that list is Georgia junior running back Kendall Milton, who is ready to takeover a large workload now that Zamir White and James Cook are in the NFL.

Via CBS Sports:

The junior running back for the Bulldogs is in a perfect spot to become the SEC’s best running back after sitting behind Zamir White and James Cook during his first two years in Athens. Milton had 56 carries for 264 yards and one touchdown in 2021, and the 6-foot-1, 210 pounder could emerge as the No. 1 back in Athens before all is said and done. Why? Fellow running back Kenny McIntosh, who also could be considered in this section, is a more multi-faceted back who will likely take over Cook’s role as a more hybrid running back/receiver out of the backfield. That will leave the tough yards to Milton, who should top the 1,000-yard mark on a team that will likely play for the SEC Championship for the second straight season.  — Barrett Sallee

In two seasons at UGA, Milton has recorded 457 yards and a touchdown on 91 carries.

Alongside Kenny McIntosh, Milton will look to receive more carries this fall. He’s a former four-star recruit in the class of 2020.

The 6-foot-1, 220 pound back was the team’s fourth-leading rusher, with 264 yards on 56 carries last season.

Watch: Kendall Milton makes sweet touchdown grab from Stetson Bennett

Kendall Milton with the sweet play

Georgia running back Kendall Milton has an opportunity to do big things this year now that James Cook and Zamir White are off the pros.

He, Kenny McIntosh and Daijun Edwards have all had nice days in the first half of Georgia’s G-Day. Edwards has notched two touchdowns, McIntosh has a big catch down the sideline and now Milton has a nice catch and score himself as well.

On a third down play, Milton ran right up the seam and a caught a ball from Bennett. He broke two tackles before finding the end zone to tie the game at 17.

Prediciting every SEC teams leading rusher in 2022

Here are projections for the top running backs in the SEC next year.

The 2021 season may have just ended, but it is never too early to look ahead to next year.

The SEC has embraced the pass-heavy offences that are sweeping the college football landscape but that has not prevented the conference from continued to have some of the best running backs in the country. That should once again be the case in 2022 as several running backs will be looking to build on previous seasons and several talented backs have transferred in from other conferences.

Here is an early look at every team’s leading rusher next season.
