Drake just leaked Kanye West’s ‘Life of the Party’ diss track and people are so confused

This is hip hop in 2021.

The beef between Kanye West and Drake just begins to get more and more confusing by the day.

These two hip-hop powerhouses have been throwing shots at each other over the last few years since Pusha T first reignited his beef with Drake back in 2018.

Naturally, with the two of them releasing albums within the same week of one another, there were almost certainly more shots between the two of them coming.

Drake threw plenty of them at West on Certified Lover Boy with tracks like “7 AM on Bridle Path” and “No Friends in the Industry.”

But it seems Kanye actually left his biggest shot at Drake off of his album, Donda.

On a track called “Life of the Party” featuring Andre 3000, West absolutely takes it to Drake and a few other folks he, apparently, has a little problem with.

The best part? We only know this track exists because, well, Drake leaked it himself.

WHEW BOY, y’all. We got a whole mess here.

Kevin Durant gave feedback to Kanye West before ‘Donda’ released

Kevin Durant gave Kanye West feedback for his new album.

The world has been waiting for the release of Kanye West’s new album “Donda” for a while now. Questions on what took the well respected rapper so long to drop his new project are slowly being answered. As reported by Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, West reached out to Nets star Kevin Durant for some feedback on “Donda” before releasing it.

Durant found time in Tokyo during his gold medal run with Team USA to do so. During the Olympics, the 33-year-old said the iconic artist is “a master at his craft.” The Nets forward is no stranger at all to making music, which should make this not that big of a surprise. He spends time with rapper Dave East to improve his own skills in rapping and even made a song with LeBron James called “It Ain’t Easy.”

If one thing is for sure, we should expect the two-time NBA Champion to have several songs from “Donda” in his pregame playlist next season.

Report: Kanye West living in Falcons stadium until album finished

Kanye West held a listening party for his new “Donda” album at Mercedes-Benz Stadium last week, but apparently the Chicago native has enjoyed himself so much that he’s not quite ready to leave.

Last week, Kanye West held a listening party for his new “Donda” album at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Atlanta Falcons, and apparently the Chicago native has enjoyed himself so much that he’s not quite ready to leave.

According to a report by TMZ, West is currently living in the stadium and plans to do so until he finishes his album:

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Mr. West will miss his weekend performance at Rolling Loud in Miami because he has literally moved into Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.”

West has announced the release date for “Donda” has been pushed back to August 6, but don’t worry, the Falcons’ season-opening matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles isn’t until September 12.

Kanye West’s ‘DONDA’ album is delayed again because that’s just how Kanye West is

Kanye did it again.

We all knew this was coming, right? This was almost certainly going to happen again. I mean, how many times have we been through this with Kanye?

It’s like clockwork. We get this whole monumental rollout from Kanye West for the latest album slated to come out, it gets a scheduled drop date and then, all of a sudden, it doesn’t drop. And then someone officially announces a delay.

That’s how it always goes with Kanye. That’s how it’s been for decades. That’s how it’s been for most of his albums.

And it’s officially happening again with ‘DONDA’ — the album named after his late mother, Donda West.

The album was slated to drop on Friday, July 23. But, of course, it’s delayed. It’ll reportedly drop in two weeks on August 6.

Kanye has a lengthy history of doing this. That’s no secret.

Sigh. Of course, longtime Ye fans knew what was good.

Is it just me or does this new Kanye West snippet from ‘Donda’ not sound too great?

The leaks from Kanye West’s new album feel really meh.

Okay, look. Full disclosure, here. This opinion is coming from the guy who called Yeezus trash. This is an opinion that I stand by, too. So, maybe I’m not the best judge of Kanye West’s post-My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sound.

With that being said, though, I can’t be the only one who hasn’t been excited about the snippets from his new album ‘Donda’ that have made their way into the ether.

We got our first taste of the new album’s sound in a Beats commercial of all places. We saw Sha’Carri Richardson lining up for a race with headphones in and Ye’s new single from the album “No Child Left Behind” was playing.

This was…alright?

There’s no way to really have an opinion on this because it sounds like we just got a section of the track on a loop for the entire minute.

Obviously, Kanye is sticking to the new Christian Rap sound he adapted for 2019’s “Jesus is King.” It sounds like church organs are playing and the lyrics “He’s done miracles on me” keep looping.

Alrighty. Cool. This is alright. Nothing worth going crazy over, certainly. But this is fine. The next snippet, though? This is probably where the disappointment comes from for me.

One would think when you have two absolutely generational producers like Kanye West and Mike Dean in a room together they’d make some sort of mind-melding, incredible sound that shatters music.

But here’s what we got.

It sounds like some sort of attempt at creating a Christian drill song? Which, without thinking about it, sounds alright! But in execution? Fam. This is not it. This beat is plain. Ye doesn’t sound the greatest over it. What are those random, awful screams in it? What’s going on here?

This just doesn’t sound the greatest. And it doesn’t feel all that creative, either. If it’s one thing we’ve known Kanye West to do it’s completely shift music. Whether it be with a new sound, a new feature, some sort of rhyme scheme. He always comes with something different.

But this sounds like Kanye chasing a sound that’s already there. A sound that isn’t his own or one that he created. Despite my strong aversion to Yeezus, even I have to admit that Ye at least tried different things with it. And though they didn’t work for me, I can appreciate the attempt. This snippet doesn’t sound new at all.

That’s the thing, though. This is a snippet. There’s still an album to come. And it will probably (hopefully?) sound much more like a buildup from the first snippet rather than a continuation of the second.

And then, maybe, I’ll finally buy some Yeezys.

SPECIAL DELIVERY: Unboxing the latest version of the Ultra Boost, the shoe that saved Adidas

This shoe changed the game.

Sneaker culture back in 2015 was all about basketball shoes. People were wearing the latest from Nike’s LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant signature sneaker lines.

No one was really thinking about Adidas. At least, not in the way we do now. But that all changed for two reasons: Kanye West and the Ultra Boost.

With this brand new running shoe, a little bit of performance technology and a hip hop superstar, Adidas was able to totally shift the way the sneaker game operates. The meaning of hype completely changed. All of a sudden, everyone wanted these new sleek running shoes. And that is the Ultra Boost’s influence. Six years later, the Ultra Boost is still a tentpole franchise for Adidas.

The fellas explore the latest offering with the UB 21 on this brand new episode of Special Delivery and talk about its short, but powerful, history in the game.

Enjoy.

Kanye West’s bizarre ‘campaign rally,’ explained

Kanye West says he is running for president, and he launched his campaign with a bizarre, uncomfortable rally.

Welcome to FTW Explains: a guide to catching up on and better understanding stuff going on in the world.

Kanye West held his first campaign rally for his (maybe serious) run for the United States presidency this week. It quickly went off the rails, and arguably had more people worried about his mental health than seriously considering him as a candidate for the highest office in the land.

It was bombastic, strange, and very Kanye, in the worst sort of way. If you’re just coming into this story, you probably have a lot of questions. We will try to answer them here.

Who is this now?

Kanye West, the producer and rapper who’s made some of the best music of the last few decades by, like, anyone. We ranked all of his songs a few years back. He’s got really good songs!

Why is he holding a campaign rally?

West says he’s running for president.

Like, the actual president?

Yes.

Oh.

Yeah.

What are his … politics?

They’re a bit all over the place, as you might imagine. West has gone from famously decrying George W. Bush for not caring about Black people in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, to being a pretty vocal supporter of Donald Trump. He’s now saying he’s his own man.

As to his specific policies, uh, honestly I feel a bit gross getting into them, because it’s clear this man is going through something right now, or just using a platform to drum up interest in his new album.

But to give you a taste: “Harriet Tubman actually never freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people” is a thing he said, along with suggesting marijuana should be free, and that there should be no more Plan B contraceptive, instead Plan A, which apparently is a plan to give every person who has a child $1 million. (Not a bad idea, tbh.)

So what was this rally?

It was him kicking off his presidential campaign. He wore a bulletproof vest and talked for a while, to some cheers and a whole lot of boos. It appeared most of the people there were there to gawk at the stunt as opposed to, you know, support him for president.

So is this all just a stunt?

Most likely. West announced he was running for president a few weeks ago, but then a spokesperson said he wasn’t running due to not getting organized enough to get on the ballot in a lot of states.

Then West said he was running again. So, I have no idea.

He has a new album coming out?

Yes. He’s sworn this isn’t just a publicity stunt for the new album, but, you know, he also said that marijuana should be free for everyone, so how seriously you take him is up to you. There are parts of this whole thing that are worrying, however.

What’s worrying about it?

West has been very vocal about his mental health issues in the past, openly discussing them in his music, and for him to now launch a presidential bid in which he’s openly getting emotional and throwing pretty out-there ideas into the world is worrying.

It suggests, to some, that this isn’t a marketing stunt, or an earnest run for president, but rather a guy with some issues who clearly isn’t being held in check or helped by the people around him. I have no idea, and can’t speculate, but it’s all kind of sad and worrying.

Could he actually influence the election?

I sincerely doubt it. Suggesting, as some on the right wing have, that Kanye West would split the Black vote and take votes away from Biden is about as disrespectful as you can be to Black voters in this country. I’d say West might steal some of the Idiot Vote from who knows who, or the “I was just going to write in Mickey Mouse” Vote, but I don’t think that’s a major part of the electorate.
