Illinois 5-star defensive tackle already enjoying his official visit to Ohio State

This would be a huge recruiting win #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and Illinois five-star defensive tackle [autotag]Justin Scott[/autotag] have long been linked, and this weekend the 2024 prospect is making his official visit to Columbus.

Most officials start early in the day and not every prospect is active on Twitter during their visits. Scott, however, was active, as the 6-foot, 4-inch and 310-pound defensive lineman tweeted a picture of his family with Ohio State head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag].

The 14th ranked overall prospect and 3rd defensive lineman according to the 247Sports composite, is a priority recruit for the Buckeyes. Anytime there is a regional prospect that is extremely highly sought after, Ohio State typically goes after them hard, which is the case with Scott.

It looks like a great start to Scottā€™s official visit in Columbus and hopefully it pushes him over the edge to play his college football at Ohio State.

Notre Dame continues to trend away from 5-star defensive tackle

The Irish will most likely have to look elsewhere for a defensive tackle

Earlier this year, it seemed it was just a matter of time before Illinois defensive tackle [autotag]Justin Scott[/autotag] was going to commit to [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag].

When he announced he was going to commit on his birthday at the end of January, many expected the five-star to pledge to the Irish. Well, as we know, Scott postponed his announcement to make sure it was the correct choice.

That choice is looking less and less likely to be the Irish. Scott announced four of his official visits recently; none is to South Bend. On top of that, Stephen Wagner of On3 has predicted Scott will end up at Miami.

Scott even retweeted this prediction. Also, the only school that received a graphic posted by him regarding official visits was Miami. Right now, itā€™s not looking good for Notre Dame to land Scott.

LOOK: Two five-stars wear maize and blue on official visit

šŸ‘€ #GoBlue

Michigan football already has one five-star recruit committed in the 2024 class: quarterback Jadyn Davis. This weekend, the Wolverines are courting two more in hopes of growing the list and expanding the talent of the No. 2 class in the country.

Both players in Ann Arbor might be a long shot, but thatā€™s why you get talent to campus whenever you can. Five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo and defensive tackle Justin Scott have predictions theyā€™ll end up elsewhere, but their interest in Michigan is genuine enough that they utilized official visits. And thanks to 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, weā€™ve been given a glimpse of what both would look like wearing maize and blue.

Wingo, who hails from St. Louis (Mo.) University, is the No. 7 prospect in the country and the nationā€™s second-best wide receiver per 247Sports. He has one prediction indicating heā€™ll pick Georgia.

Scott is the No. 12 player nationally in the 247Sports composite and the third-best defensive tackle. He has two predictions, one indicating Miami will be his choice, the other Notre Dame.

LOOK: 2024 5-star in Ann Arbor visiting Michigan football

Will #Michigan wow him this weekend? #GoBlue

Michigan football is embarking upon its second big official visit weekend in the summer recruiting cycle. Among the June 9 official visitors are some big-time names in Ann Arbor.

Of those big names, there are two five-star prospects: wide receiver Ryan Wingo and defensive tackle Justin Scott. The latter seemed destined to pledge to Notre Dame in the winter, but then postponed his commitment date indefinitely.

Scott is taking in Ann Arbor and everything the University of Michigan has to offer. He’s showing off part of his tour on Twitter, with a picture taken in front of the Law Quad on campus.

Will the Wolverines be able to secure his commitment? While it appears a long shot, getting him on campus in official capacity goes a long way.

Hailing from Chicago (Illinois) St. Ignatius, Scott is listed as the No. 12 player in the country on the 247Sports composite. He has 247Sports crystal ball predictions for Miami and Notre Dame, though Michigan, Ohio State and Georgia appear to be under consideration. Scott visited Georgia last week and will visit Miami and Notre Dame the next two weeks.

Notre Dame football: Biggest remaining recruiting targets for 2024

Want a great class and not just a good one for Notre Dame? Land the majority of these six realistic remaining targets.

Notre Dame has been on a hot streak of landing commitments for their 2024 recruiting class of late, now sitting at a 18-player class.Ā  That is one of the highest numbers nationally but if you follow Notre Dame recruiting you know it’s all about building it up early and holding on to close things out.

That’s essentially to say, you won’t see Notre Dame climb the team rankings on national signing day usually.Ā  They might add a player or two late but the majority of their commitments come long before late-December.

So with 18 players committed and assuming all 18 remain that way (not fair to expect but how else do we do this exercise?) then who are the key remaining targets for Notre Dame in 2024?

Landing the majority of these six dream recruits would take Notre Dame’s class from how it stands now as pretty good, to instead being great.

5-star DL Justin Scott names Georgia among top-5 schools

Elite 2024 DL Justin Scott names UGA in top-5

Georgia football is in the running for 2024 five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott out of Chicago.

Scott recently named the Bulldogs, Ohio State, Miami, Michigan and Notre Dame as his top five schools.

Scott (6 feet, 4 inches, 310 pounds) is the No. 3 defensive lineman nationally, the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois and the No. 12 recruit overall on the 247Sports composite.

Georgia offered St. Ignatius High School prospect in March, and Scott officially visits Athens on June 2.

The Bulldogs are the hottest team on the recruiting trail right now with the No. 1 ranked class in the country that features the nation’s best four five-star recruits.

Friday Night Notes: 5-stars visiting Michigan, Colorado’s QB targets, plus more

The lead in the 2024 recruiting cycle changed hands again this week.

USA TODAY High School Sportsā€˜ Friday Night Notes is a weekly high school recruiting recap that looks at the latest news from around the countryā€”from the Class of 2023 to ā€™24 and beyond.

The lead in the 2024 recruiting cycle changed hands again this week. Michigan had been on top, but the recentĀ arrival of QB1 Dylan Raiola, plus a few more three- and four-star commitments this past week, putĀ GeorgiaĀ at No. 1 nationally.

Going by theĀ 247Sports composite rankings, the Bulldogs’ class of 2024 is now at 270.65 points, more than 20 points ahead of the second-rankedĀ WolverinesĀ (250.12). It will take a lot of work to recover that lead for Jim Harbaugh and the rest of his program. Adding a couple of blue-chip prospects would certainly make a difference, though.

On that score, help may soon be on the way.

According to Wolverines Wire Trent Knoop, Justin Scott will be visiting Ann Arbor on June 9. The composite rankings have Scott (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) as the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Illinois, plus No. 3 at his position and No. 12 nationally in the class of 2024.

Scott has offers from 29 other programs and will also be visiting Georgia, Miami, and Ohio State next month. On3’s prediction model currently hasĀ Miami as the favoriteĀ to get his commitment at 69.8%, followed by Notre Dame at 20.2%, then Georgia at 6.3%. Michigan is at less than 1%.

Scott won’t be the only five-star recruit in Ann Arbor that weekend, though.

According to On3 Recruits, Saint Louis University (Mo.) five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo will also be in town for an official visit on June 9. Wingo (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) is ranked second overall in Missouri, fifth among wide receiversĀ and No. 21 nationallyĀ in the 2024 class.

Wingo also has offers from 41 other programs, though. The list of contenders that are considered warm to get his commitment includeĀ Georgia,Ā Michigan, Missouri,Ā Texas,Ā Alabama,Ā Clemson, Miami,Ā Oregon,Ā TennesseeĀ andĀ Texas A&M.

Michigan football makes top five for 2024 five-star DT

Gotta wow him on his official visit. #GoBlue

Michigan football is in the midst of a big battle for one of the nationā€™s top recruits.

2024 Chicago (Illinois) St. Ignatius five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott appeared ready to wrap up his recruitment earlier this year, and Notre Dame appeared to be his destination. However, Scott delayed his commitment, and it became anybodyā€™s ballgame.

The No. 12 player in the country per the 247Sports composite, Scott plans a string of official visits in June when the window reopens. And with a visit to Ann Arbor set for June 9, Michigan football made his final five, along with the Irish, Ohio State, Georgia and Miami.

Scott will visit Georgia on June 2, Miami on June 16 and Ohio State on June 23.

The evaluation from 247Sportsā€™ Allen Trieu:

Has prototypical size and athletic ability for the position. Bends well, gets off the ball quickly and can beat blockers with initial quickness. Closes to the ball with speed as well. For a taller interior defensive lineman, he generally does a good job with pad level and his flexibility helps with that. Not often challenged in high school with offensive linemen with similar size and talent. Will have to show he can disengage from Power Five level offensive linemen. Has great upside though and actually could play high-level offensive line if he wanted to also, but projects as a defensive tackle that can play for any school and in any scheme in the country.

Michigan has one five-star committed, quarterback Jadyn Davis. To secure Scott, it will have to make a strong impression on June 9. Mike Elston is leading the charge for Scott in Ann Arbor.

The 247Sports crystal ball indicates it is a Miami-Notre Dame battle at the moment.

Ohio State will host 5-star defensive tackle in June

The visit is a big one for the Bucks #GoBucks

The 2024 [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] recruiting class is stocked full of offensive talentĀ but has just two commits on the defense side.

Head coach Ryan Day is working hard on that avenue and one of those targets is Illinois 5-star defensive tackle [autotag]Justin Scott[/autotag]. The massive interior lineman, who stands 6-foot, 4-inches, and weighs 310 pounds, recently dropped four schools that he will officially visit.

Ohio State made the cut along with Georgia, Michigan, and Miami (FL). The good news for the Buckeyes is that they will get the last crack at impressing the No. 3 ranked defensive tackle and 13th overall player according to the 247Sports composite.

Scott is a priority target for the Buckeyes and will surely roll out the red carpet for the 5-star prospect when he arrives on his visit at the end of June.

Huge 2024 five-star taking an official visit to Michigan football

June 9 weekend has officially gotten even bigger with this guy coming to Ann Arbor! #GoBlue

The month of June is going to be nuts for Michigan football with top-end talent taking official visits to Ann Arbor.

The top-ranked 2024 recruiting class continues to buzz and Michigan is sitting pretty with plenty of four-star and five-star talent. The Wolverines have one five-star currently committed to them in 2024, which is quarterback Jadyn Davis.

Michigan already has five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo taking an official visit on June 9. On Thursday, that weekend go much bigger for the Wolverines.

According to Adam Gorney with Rivals, 2024 five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott will also be headed to Ann Arbor on June 9 for an official visit. Scott locked in four official visits for the month of June which consists of Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and Ohio State.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Chicago (Illinois) St. Ignatius product is the 13th-ranked prospect in 2024, the third-ranked defensive lineman in the nation, and the top-ranked recruit from Illinois. Entering his senior year of high school, Scott has the size to compete Day 1 in college standing 6-foot-4 and 310-pounds.

Allen Trieu with 247Sports gives his scouting report on the five-star.

Scott currently has two different Crystal Ball projections. One of them has him going to Miami and the other to Notre Dame.

Here are some of the names that will be joining Scott on the June 9 weekend to Michigan: five-star WR Ryan Wingo, four-star RB and Michigan commit Jordan Marshall, four-star OT Bennet Warren, four-star edge Elias Rudolph, four-star CB Ondre Evans, four-star edge Dominic Nicols, among others.
