In case you missed it: Three-star TE Jordan Washington chooses Texas

Texas is winning on most players making decisions of late, including tight end Jordan Washington.

Jordan Washington intends to spend his college playing days in Austin. The three-star tight end announced his commitment to Texas on Tuesday.

Washington is a special talent despite his three-star rating. Some consider the talented pass catcher a late bloomer at the position, and one who could make a big impact. What is clear is that the Texas staff viewed him as a key part of its 2024 recruiting cycle.

Following Washington’s decision, the Longhorns recruiting class expands to 12 commitments and has surged to No. 16 in the On3 class rankings for the cycle. The class includes six Top 300 recruits with several more likely to get in the boat.

Texas checks in ahead of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Stanford to round out the Top 20. Albeit, there’s room to improve if the Longhorns are going to compete with the SEC’s best in its new conference.

Texas checks in at No. 8 among SEC classes for the 2024 recruiting cycle. The top of the class in order includes Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee and South Carolina.

The Longhorns will look to make up significant ground over the next month.

Decisions and dates to watch for Texas recruiting targets

Both Parker Livingstone and Jordon Johnson-Rubell decide which college to attend on Saturday.

Decisions are approaching for multiple Texas targets. Many of those players in question are likely to choose the Longhorns in the next few months.

Some of the bigger name targets might have a longer timeline. Edge rusher Colin Simmons, cornerback Kobe Black and receiver Ryan Wingo are all five-star talents who have been given Texas predictions. Ultimately, the latter two seem likely to choose the Longhorns but their decisions might not be imminent.

There are a few players whose decisions could come soon. Wide receiver Parker Livingtone, safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell and tight end Jordan Washington appear likely to decide in the next few days.

Here’s a look at Texas targets who are already set to decide along with their decision dates.

Texas is now the heavy favorite to land 2024 TE Jordan Washington

2024 3-star Tight end Jordan Washington has set his commitment date

Texas A&M recruiting target, 2024 3-star Tight end Jordan Washington has set his commitment date for early July.

The battle for 2024 three-star tight end Jordan Washington will commence in less than two weeks, as the incoming senior at Langham Creek High School is down to four programs, which include Texas, UTSA, Arizona State, and of course, Texas A&M. On Thursday, Washington posted on Twitter that he will announce his commitment on Tuesday, July 4.

While the Texas Longhorns still lead the way, please don’t put it past Jimbo Fiser and Aggies tight end coach James Coley to pull what out of their proverbial hat when it’s all said and done. Rankings-wise, Washington is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked tight-end prospect in the class and the 75th-ranked player in Texas, and based on his on-field play, he’s severely underrated.

Size, speed, and wide receiver-like skills, paired with his 6-4 205-pound frame, Washington’s inline blocking ability adds to his versatility at the position, making him a seamless fit in A&M’s pro-style/spread offense under Fisher and the new offensive coordinator, Bobby Petrino. After adding 2024 four-star tight end Eric Karner on Thursday, Jordan Washington has something to consider as the Aggies’ 2024 cycle continues to gain momentum this summer.

These are the high-profile 2024 football prospects visiting Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M is set for a busy month as they welcome close to a double-digit number of recruiting visits, beginning with this weekend’s list of high-profile 2024 football prospects.

While the summer months may separate fans from meaningful college football, it doesn’t negate exciting news to stop flowing in. As we officially turn the page to June, the 2024 recruiting cycle enters the exciting stage of campus visits.

Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher are set for a busy month as the Maroon and White is nearing double-digit visiting numbers from a handful of top football prospects. The coming weekend of June 2 to June 4 will see some of the best recruits on both the offensive and side of the ball get a preview of Aggieland, with the hope that they see College Station as their next home for the future.

While a handful of this weekend’s visitors are still progressing through their decision process, at least one current commit of a rival program is making his way to Aggieland in the coming days, offering an opportunity for the Maroon and White to help him reconsider his decision.

Here’s the list of the top 2024 football prospects visiting Texas A&M this weekend (June 2-4 ):

2024 3-Star Tight end Jordan Washington will visit Texas A&M this coming weekend

Texas A&M is set to host 2024 3-star Tight end Jordan Washington on the weekend of June 2, joining several other 2024 prospects.

We are now just days away from the start of June, and for Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher, the 2024 recruiting cycle is entering one of its more exciting stages; Campus visits.

Throughout the month, the Aggies are nearing double-digit visiting numbers. On the weekend of June 2, three-star Tight end Jordan Washington will join several other high-profile 2024 prospects, including four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith, 3-star OL Coen Echols, and four-star OL Makai Saina, there-star WR Earnest Campbell, and four-star OL Bennett Warren.

Texas A&M offered Washington back May 20 on the same day he unofficially visited College Station, and it looks as if the communication channel between both parties has remained stable while his stock has continued to rise, as Alabama and Baylor fielded offers eight days later.

Presently, Washington is positioned as the 29th-ranked Tight end prospect and the 74th-ranked player in Texas, according to 247Sports. Entering his senior season at Langham Creek High School in Houston, Texas, Washington is Jimbo Fisher’s first in-state tight end offer, and there’s a reason for that.

After what was widely noted as a positive first visit earlier this month, I do not doubt that Fisher and his staff will pull out all the stops this coming weekend when Washington arrives in College Station.

Texas A&M offers 2024 3-Star Tight end Jordan Washington

Texas A&M has fielded an offer to 2024 3-star tight end Jordan Washington.

Texas A&M won’t face the Texas Longhorns on the gridiron till the 2024 season, but on the recruiting front, they’ve been battling nearly every top prospect the Lone Star State has to offer year after year. On Saturday, Texas A&M offered 2024 three-star tight end Jordan Washington, who unofficially visited College Station this weekend.

According to 247Sports, Texas is a current favorite to land the Houston, Texas native, yet his visit with Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher could sway things towards the Maroon and White. Ranked as the 28th tight end prospect and 71st-ranked player in Texas, Washington was named Texas District 16-6A first-team during his 2022 junior season, leading to over 15 offers.

Standing at 6-4 and just over 210 pounds, Washington thrives in the vertical passing game and can flex in as an in-line blocker. Don’t let his three-star rating fool you into thinking he doesn’t possess the tools necessary to thrive in the S.E.C. After a successful unofficial visit, Fisher and his staff should be on the phone setting up an official visit A.S.A.P.
