On Saturday, multiple news outlets, including USA TODAY, projected that Joe Biden will win the state of Pennsylvania and earn the 270 required Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency of the United States.

The news comes as Biden’s lead in Pennsylvania grew to more than 28,000 votes following three days of counting over 2.6 million mail-in ballots. Including Pennsylvania, votes were still being counted in other swing states that could push Biden’s total Electoral College vote to 306.

Biden, 77, will become the oldest president in American history with the victory while running mate Kamala Harris will be the first Black woman to be elected vice president. She will also be the highest-ranking woman to ever serve in the government.

Americans instantly flooded streets in cities across the country, like New York City, Philadelphia and Atlanta, to celebrate the victory and also took to social media to share their reactions. Players from around the NBA also joined in to celebrate the news.

Of course, the NBA played an integral role in raising awareness on social injustice issues, voter registrations and other similar movements throughout the year. The league dedicated its season restart to creating meaningful change against racism and that effort paid off this year.

From LeBron James to Donovan Mitchell, players hopped on Twitter on Saturday afternoon to offer reaction to the news of Biden becoming the 46th president in the United States.

LeBron James shares photoshop of Joe Biden blocking Donald Trump to celebrate result

LeBron is PETTY.

The 2020 presidential election is finally over and Joe Biden has been elected as the new president elect of the United States.

People across the country are celebrating. LeBron James is among them. The Los Angeles Lakers star was heavily invested in this election. So much so that he actually gave a full endorsement to Biden for this election.

His history with Donald Trump is also well documented โ€” James called him a bum.ย So it goes without saying that James is absolutely thrilled with this result.

He’s so thrilled, in fact, that shared a photoshop of Joe Biden playing the role of James in what is probably going to go down as the greatest moment of his career โ€” the chase down block on Andre Iguodala in game 7 of the 2016 Finals.

And I bet you can guess who was photoshopped onto Iguodala.

WHEW that is spicy. And you can bet that he’s got more in the tank where that came from.

Joel Embiid, Josh Richardson celebrate Joe Biden winning 2020 election

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson react to Joe Biden winning the election.

In an election year, everybody has their own opinion on their preference to win president. In 2020, it felt like this election was much different and much more important in the middle of a global pandemic and a civil rights movement.

On Saturday afternoon, it became official that Joe Biden had defeated incumbent Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States of America. It became a big victory for him and a big victory for democracy as a lot of people let their voices be heard by voting.

The Philadelphia 76ers were a big influence on voting this year as they had put out their message about how important voting was during their time in the bubble and their time leading up to the election. Joel Embiid had a great reaction when the news broke that Biden had won.

Josh Richardson then joined in on the fun to show his approval of the new president.

The election may be over and Biden is now the new president, but there is still more work to be done. Hopefully, this is a moment where everybody can step up and do their part by treating each other with the respect that everybody deserves. [lawrence-related id=38909,38900,38903]

LeBron James shows Election Day support for Biden-Harris ticket

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James showed his support for the Democratic ticket for the Nov. 3 Election Day.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been using his platform and his new non-profit ‘More Than A Vote’ to use their right to vote. But late Monday night as the Election Day came, James was very explicit in telling his followers who to vote for in the presidential election: the Democratic ticket of Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Joe Biden. With his endorsement of the Biden-Harris ticket, James sent a message that he has been consistent throughout his messaging during the election, that the United States needs a lot to change.

James has consistently been an opponent of current President Donald Trump, who egged supporters on in Pennsylvania to start a “LeBron James sucks” chant at a rally on Monday.

Chris Paul and Joe Biden FaceTime Steph Curry from his hometown gym

The Thunder point guard has taken his talents on the road with the former Vice President.

There was once a time when professional athletes did their best to stay out of politics.

Those days are long gone.

On Thursday, Thunder point guard and NBPA President Chris Paul publicized a video of him accompanying Vice President Joe Biden to the Carole Hoefner Center in Charlotte, North Carolina โ€” Stephen Curry’s hometown.

Back in 2019, Curry renovated the center and invested in the basketball facilities in order to help provide future generations with state of the art facilities to ply their trade.

Paul and Mr. Biden took a trip to the center and met with a basketball team comprised of high schoolers with Paul encouraging them to get involved in politics and vote when they get the opportunity.

While there, Paul did a Facetime call with Curry, who echoed the sentiments.

Paul’s appearance and subsequent publicizing of the video is the latest endeavor in which Paul took a political stand and let it be known who he plans on voting for as Election Day approaches on Nov. 3.

Since before the league took its competition to Orlando, Paul and many of the league’s stars became critical of President Donald Trump and outspoken in their advocacy for Black Lives Matter and against police brutality. That has led to quite a few of them publicly expressing support for Mr. Biden and his running mate Senator Kamala Harris.

“.@JoeBiden great to be with you back home last week in NC!! @stephencurry30 missed you but you know what had to stop by your gym! The election of our lifetime. Vote for @joebiden and @kamalaharris!! iwillvote.com,” Paul tweeted.

Like Curry, Paul hails from North Carolina. The two developed a bit of a rivalry in the NBA’s Western Conference but were obviously able to put their professional differences aside in order to deliver an important message to the young North Carolinians.

LeBron James had some jokes for the fly that landed on Mike Pence

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James had some jokes while watching last night’s Vice Presidential debate.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, like many who were watching Wednesday night’s Vice Presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris, had plenty of jokes for a hilarious moment of happenstance during the debate involving a fly and the head of the Veep.

During last night’s debate, a fly was spotted on the top of the head of Pence, leading to a barrage of new twitter accounts and jokes about the fly landing on his head. LeBron James also had jokes, which he showed people on his Instagram story, comparing Pence to, well, a piece of feces.

James has been against the Trump White House ever since the 2016 election, so it makes sense that LeBron would jump in on the jokes about Pence. With less than a month towards the election, LeBron’s “More Than A Vote” is helping to get more people registered to vote and combat voter suppression against the Black community.
