Women’s hoops fan Lil Wayne offers advice to Angel Reese about the pressures of stardom

Lil Wayne is a big fan of forward Angel Reese. He recently shared a special message for the LSU star.

Angel Reese has to maintain a high level of play if LSU wants to repeat as NCAA champions. Rapper Lil Wayne, a Louisiana native, has advice for the “Bayou Barbie” as she and the Lady Tigers navigate their way back to greatness.

Reese is a celebrated household name, but that hasn’t come without pressure and scrutiny. From her troll of Caitlin Clark to her mental-health reset to start this season, the 6-foot-3 forward has experienced a lot in a calendar year.

Hoops fan and Rapper Lil Wayne knows something about being young and in the spotlight from his early days with Cash Money Records, where he rose to fame before he was 18. As such, he’s made it a point to impart wisdom to Reese about what comes with being in the spotlight.

In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks and Bleacher Report, Wayne doubled down on supporting women’s hoops and offered Angel some advice for the days ahead. (See 43:41 mark.)

As you may know, rapper Lil Wayne has long been a women’s basketball fan and supporter, whether it’s trying collaborate with Flau’jae Johnson on a track or showing up at women’s NCAA tournament games as he did earlier this year in Greenville, South Carolina to watch Miami and LSU win.

So of course he decided to congratulate Caitlin Clark on reaching 3,000 points in her incredible Iowa career with a couple of tweets at the Iowa superstar: “Caitlin Clark congrats on 3k!!! U a [expletive] dogg dogg!!

Clark reposted it on X (formerly Twitter) and I would too if I was her:

Deion Sanders welcomed Lil Wayne to Boulder with a customized Colorado football jersey

Deion Sanders has convinced Lil Wayne to be a Colorado fan with a customized jersey.

Deion Sanders has started a full takeover of the 2023 college football season, and he’s now got Lil Wayne on the Colorado bandwagon.

After the legendary rapper completed a performance on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff in Boulder, Colorado, Sanders joined the stage to give Lil Wayne a customized Buffaloes jersey with “Tunechi” on the back.

Deion Sanders mercilessly mocked Jay Norvell by taking off hat in a post-game handshake preview

Lil Wayne immediately put the jersey on, which adds him to the long list of folks who have become fans of Colorado since Sanders took over the program.

No. 18 Colorado is looking for its third-straight win over Colorado State on Saturday, and the team can now count Lil Wayne as one of its supporters.

Sanders has been a one-man marketing machine since joining Colorado as its head coach, and it’s genuinely impressive to see how much he’s accomplished in his time leading the program.

It’ll be fascinating to see who Sanders can bring aboard next to widen the Colorado fandom.

7 times Taylor Swift was having the time of her life at the 2023 MTV VMAs

Taylor Swift dancing like nobody is watching at the VMA’s is highly relatable.

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop stars in the world. The 33-year-old Pennsylvania native has been rewriting history books for many years, including Tuesday night at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Swift took home a staggering nine “Moon Men,” bringing her total to 23 awards, second only to Beyoncรฉ, who has 30. However, it wasn’t her winning that generated the most buzz on Tuesday night. It was Swift’s reaction to other celebrities.

As you might imagine, there isn’t much time for the Grammy award-winning songstress to be herself, and without fans around and surrounded only by others who share in her plight, Swift took several moments to let loose.

These are the seven times Taylor Swift was having the time of her life at the VMAs:

Morgan, Dunn react as USWNT roster spots revealed by Taylor Swift and Lil Wayne

The USWNT brought out some big names to reveal its 2023 World Cup roster

U.S. Soccer brought out some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment and politics to announce the 2023 U.S. womenโ€™s national team World Cup roster.

The video posted on social media began with none other than U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, and continued with each of the 23 players being introduced by a different celebrity.

Alex Morgan was given the honor of being introduced by her friend Taylor Swift, and the striker told reporters afterwards that she felt the pairing was ideal.

“I was really surprised to see Taylor announce me but all the other amazing celebrities, influencers and people so influential in the soccer world announcing the roster was pretty cool,” Morgan said. “I give U.S. Soccer props for that. I think they nailed it with Taylor announcing me. I was very happy about that. She had some really nice things to say and I feel like we’ve supported each other a lot, so it was really great to see that.”

Lil Wayne was charged with introducing Crystal Dunn, who said that it was “incredible” seeing the rap star reveal her spot on the roster.

“I will say getting that announcement from Lil Wayne was incredible,” Dunn said. “I mean, everybody was hitting my line like, ‘Do you know him? Do you know him?’ I’m like no, but listen, the man said my name already so I feel like we kind of know each other now.”

Swift and Lil Wayne were far from the only big names in the video, which also included the likes of Megan Thee Stallion (who seems to have taken up a newfound interest in soccer), Shaquille O’Neal, Issa Rae, Blake Lively, Mia Hamm, Jalen Hurts and many more.

Lil Wayne teases track collaboration with LSU basketballโ€™s Flauโ€™jae Johnson

Lil Wayne and LSU basketball standout Flau’jae Johnson might collaborate on a track soon??

While talking with women’s basketball greats Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, rap legend Lil Wayne hinted that he’s going to be collaborating with an LSU star soon.

On ESPN’s The Bird & Taurasi Show, women’s basketball fan Lil Wayne shared that, thanks to LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, that he will be collaborating on a track with Tigers freshman guard Flau’jae Johnson.

Johnson just goes by “Flau’jae” for her aspiring rap career, one that Lil Wayne seems very interested in helping out in the studio.

“We’re about to connect musically soon,” Lil Wayne told the two on the alternate broadcast of Friday night’s LSU-Virginia Tech 2023 women’s NCAA tournament Final Four game. “Be looking out for that.”

Johnson actually signed a music deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, so more collaborations could be on the horizon for the basketball player/musician.

She has also performed for her home crowd at LSU in the past.

The LSU women’s basketball team also practiced to one of Johnson’s freestyles ahead of Friday night’s Final Four win over Virginia Tech.

Johnson’s future certainly looks bright on the court and in the booth, and it seems like she’ll have plenty of opportunities to pursue both in the days ahead.

Haley Cavinder, Angel Reese want Lil Wayne to come to the Miami vs. LSU March Madness game

Your move, Weezy.

We know Lil Wayne is a football fan, but heโ€™s apparently really into womenโ€™s college basketball too.

The ultra-famous rapper from New Orleans was tuned into Fridayโ€™s Sweet 16 games in Greenville, S.C., where No. 9 Miami upset No. 4 Villanova, and No. 3 LSU squeaked out a narrow win over No. 2 Utah while Tigersโ€™ coach Kim Mulkey wore an outfit that ruffled some feathers.

For Miami, the win paves the way for the Hurricanes to play in the Elite Eight for the first time ever. And LSU is back in the regional final for the first time since 2008.

And Weezy took time to congratulate both teams. First, he called up NIL TikTok stars and Miami guards Haley and Hanna Cavinder on FaceTime. And then he sent out a congratulatory tweet aimed at LSUโ€™s Angel Reese after she notched her 31st double-double of the season.

However, Reese wasnโ€™t thrilled that Weezy showed his fandom for Miami.

โ€œI’m on him because he’s from NOLA and he called them before he called us,โ€ Reese said during Saturday morningโ€™s press conference. โ€œHopefully he comes to the game โ€ฆ Lil Tunechi, you better come pull up tomorrow.โ€

The Hurricanes and Tigers face off for the chance to go to the Final Four on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

Miami’s Haley Cavinder publicly extended the invitation to Weezy too.

โ€œI think he likes women’s basketball and that’s a win for women’s basketball,โ€ Cavinder said. โ€œHopefully he comes to the game if he likes Angel Reese and our team. Lil Wayne, if you see this, come to the game.โ€

If Weezy does show up to Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Sunday night, Mulkey, a fellow native of Louisiana, expects the rapper to be rooting for the Tigers.

โ€œI don’t know the connection to Miami other than it’s a pretty big rap scene there. Maybe that’s what it is,โ€ Mulkey said. โ€œI don’t know him well enough to speak for him, but he’s Louisiana, as far as I know. I don’t think that we have to worry about Lil Wayne.โ€

A Mark Cuban and Lil Wayne feud is one …

A Mark Cuban and Lil Wayne feud is one of the main storylines of the NBA playoffs? That seems to be the case as the Mavs owner and famous rapper have exchanged NSFW blows with one another on social media. Cubanโ€™s dog in the fight is that he is obviously the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. However, Lil Wayne was cheering for the Suns and is a friend of Chris Paul. Lil Wayne had previously called out Mavs star Luka Doncic during the Suns and Mavs series.
