Bruins cornerback Jaylin Davies posts hype video for 2024-2025 season

Get excited!

As we continue to countdown to the start of the UCLA Bruins football team, one of the Bruins starters on the defensive side posted his hype video on Twitter.

Jaylin Davies, a redshirt Junior, who played his high school football at Mater Dei High School, and is from Rancho Cucamonga has been with the Bruins since the spring quarter of 2022.

A season ago, Davies played in 13 games and started in 12 of them. He led the Bruins in pass breakups and had a season-high six tackles twice last season. In the game against USC, he forced a fumble, which returned for a Bruins touchdown.

His hype video shows off many of his key plays from last season:

Davies projects to be to be a starter for the Bruins along with linebackers Kain Medrano and Oladejo Oluwafemi. Jadyn Marshall is listed as his backup, while Ramon Henderson and Bryan Addison are listed as the starting safeties.

Former Duck defensive back Jaylin Davies transfers to UCLA

Former Oregon cornerback Jaylin Davies has announced he has committed to play for UCLA.

With a new coaching staff, transfers are expected to come and go.

Defensive back Jaylin Davies is one of those players that went and he announced that he will be transferring to UCLA and will be playing for Chip Kelly.

Going to UCLA makes sense for the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder who originally hails from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Matei Dei High School.

When he committed to Oregon, Davies was a consensus four-star recruit and top-20 cornerback nationally by most of the recruiting services and one of the top corners to come out of California.

But with the emergence of Twikweze Bridges, Dontae Manning, and a whole host of others, Oregon is very deep in the defensive back position so Davies must have felt he’ll see more playing time with the Bruins.

Besides, the kid is going back home and you can never fault him for doing that.

Redshirt freshman CB Jaylin Davies enters the transfer portal

After not seeing much playing time as a freshman, CB Jaylin Davies has entered the transfer portal.

The cornerback position for the Oregon Ducks took a slight hit on Tuesday afternoon, with freshman Jaylin Davies entering the transfer portal and looking for a new team.

This is a hit for the Ducks, who are looking for someone to step up at the CB spot this coming season after losing Mykael Wright to the NFL draft, and DJ James to the transfer portal, where he committed to Auburn.

Davies did not see much playing time in his freshman season with the Ducks, and he picked up just three total tackles in the Alamo Bowl at the end of the year. It does not come as a major shock to see him transfer, since Oregon does have an abundance of young talent now on the roster vying for a spot on the field in the secondary.

As spring ball gets started this month, we are bound to see more action in the transfer portal as players jockey for roster spots and rungs on the depth chart.

Four-star 2021 corner Jaylin Davies picks Oregon

Though it was expected, four-star 2021 cornerback Jaylin Davies announced his verbal commitment to the Oregon Ducks Saturday.

It was expected — especially over the last few weeks — but four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA announced his verbal commitment to the Oregon Ducks Saturday.

Ohio State had been in the final four for his services in mid-May, but the writing was on the wall when the Buckeyes got a commitment from four-star Arizona product Denzel Burke. Once he committed on May 24, the Buckeye staff cooled off a little on the pursuit of Davies.

So, while many may take this news as the Ducks stealing one from Ohio State, that’s not really the case. The Buckeyes only have so much room in this class for defensive backs, and they are in more than fine shape in that department at the moment.

Still, Davies is a talent that could turn into something special up in Eugene. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is listed as the No. 12 corner and 129th overall recruit in the class.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on the prospects still out there as Ohio State continues to add to a 2021 class that has the potential to be the best in the country when it’s all said and done.

Ohio State appears in 2021 four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies’ final four list

Jaylin Davies, a four-star cornerback in the Class of 2021, has listed Ohio State, along with USC, ASU and Oregon in his final four.

Jaylin Davies, a four-star cornerback in the Class of 2021, has listed Ohio State, along with USC, ASU, and Oregon in his final four. This announcement comes from Davies’ Twitter.

As for Davies, the Mater Dei product, has all West Coast teams in his final four except for Ohio State, making them more of a standout option. Davies is from Santa Ann, California.

Of these four teams, OSU certainly has the greatest track record for developing NFL-ready cornerbacks. A top-ten corner in the class, Davies has the ceiling of a first-round pick.

It wasn’t just Ohio State that wanted Davies though. Powerhouses like Alabama, Auburn, and Michigan were also in the race and had offered the 6-foot, 1-inch, 165-pound stud.

That said, here’s a look at his official final four announcement.

Defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs will always use the numbers on the back-end.

Shaun Wade is expected to leave after this next season, and Coombs’ top-two cornerbacks from this past season both ended up being first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Ohio State has been active in going after defensive backs in recruiting but Davies may instantly play a good-sized role on Ohio State’s team, one destined to be one of the best in the NCAA.

Texas sends offer to 2021 four-star cornerback out of California

Texas recently jumped into the competition to recruit four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies out of California.

Although Alabama has been heavily recruiting four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies since last summer, the Longhorns have recently jumped into the competition.

According to 247Sports Composite, Davies is a four-star prospect who has received offers from Alabama, UCLA, Auburn, Arizona, and many others. The 6-0, 165-pound defensive back is the No. 11 overall player out of California in the 2021 recruiting class.

It appears Davies had a great talk with Texas’ new defensive coordinator Chris Ash. Davies is a physical, natural cover corner out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana that would likely compete for playing time immediately for the Longhorns.

He was part of the 2019 MaxPreps High School Junior All-American team and the California All-State Football Team presented by Suddenlink by Altice.
