NFL fans on Twitter roasted Jack Harlow’s underwhelming halftime show on Thanksgiving
The Atlanta Falcons play on Sunday, but many fans are enjoying their Thanksgiving afternoon with their families watching football.
The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers got things started on Thursday afternoon, but the most interesting thing to happen was Jack Harlow’s odd halftime show.
The Lions were trailing, 23-6, to the Packers at halftime when Harlow came out in front of an agitated Detroit crowd. Not only was Harlow’s performance flat, but his stage was unusually small.
Fans on Twitter had a field day poking fun at the Lions halftime show.
Everything about Jack Harlow’s halftime show SCREAMED low-budget and low-energy.
Jack Harlow, whose work I’m intimately familiar with, was the halftime performer for the Detroit Lions’ matchup with the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving. And I say “performer” in the extremely loose sense.
Amidst a holiday centered around eating and sleepiness before the evening, Harlow “serenaded” America with one of the weirdest, seemingly low-budget performances I can remember in Thanksgiving NFL history. It was legitimately baffling seeing the rapper — who, again, I know so much about — spout off low-energy verses amidst set pieces that looked like they were ripped straight out of a middle school play.
None of that statement is hyperbole, either, ladies and gentlemen. This was really bad:
Yeah, man, I don’t know. If I were the NFL, I would’ve at least sprung for a bigger budget. Or, you know, simply booked someone else! It’s that simple! Kudos to Harlow for trying his best — even if his performance mostly fell flat.
The Frito-Lay snack brands have come out with heavy talent, including ‘Breaking Bad’ stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, and Missy Elliott.
It’s a celeb-filled variety pack for Doritos and PopCorners, with each Frito-Lay snack brand looking to grab the interest of commercial fans as advertising’s biggest stage nears on February 12.
Following the growing teaser trend from the past few Super Bowl commercial seasons, the creative behind the campaigns has placed a significant focus on hitting the social media cosmos ahead of the full spot.
Doritos went into new territory, tapping TikTok star Tay (@vibin.wit.tay) to help with a dance challenge that would provide one winner with chance to create a game day video, plus appear in the Doritos ad.
Meanwhile, PopCorners, a first-timer in this year’s national commercial lineup, created buzz when the brand’s talent went “Instagram Official”:
On the footsteps of Bryan Cranston’s (aka Walter White) announcement, more intrigue was added when a familiar face—that of Aaron Paul, aka Jesse Pinkman—joined the “Breaking Bad” theme in PopCorner’s first video teaser.
It’s a powerful combo and certainly fits into the formula of casting not only talented actors but also ones that happen to cover a wide pop-culture demographic. To that, Cranston is no stranger to Ad Meter, having been part of MTN Dew’s campaign in 2020, a creative spinoff of the Stanley Kubrick classic “The Shining” that placed in the top 20.
Will he and Paul repeat that success?
As usual, there will be plenty of competition, including just down the chip aisle from Doritos—which sent the paparazzi out to reveal that its talent in the big game would be rapper Jack Harlow.
And as the finale to the Frito-Lay rush, the follow-up act hints that Harlow’s appearance will be a collaboration with Super Bowl commercial veteran Missy Elliott.
In the same conversational chatter as PopCorners, how the full commercial spot performs in the game of popular opinion remains to be seen (or rated), part of the fun as things slowly escalate. But the iconic brand is looking to make a big splash during the breaks of Super Bowl 57, as Brett O’Brien, Chief Marketing Officer, Frito-Lay North America, explained to USA RTODY Ad Meter.
“Frito-Lay is thrilled to be returning to the Super Bowl this year with Big Game icon Doritos and newcomer PopCorners. At Frito-Lay, our goal is to create real moments of joy during the Super Bowl with both the snacks and entertainment we are bringing to the table this year.”
Jayson Tatum pumped up the crowd before shooting some hoops on stage at a recent Jack Harlow concert.
What does Jayson Tatum do when he’s not playing basketball for the Boston Celtics? It appears he just looks for new places to shoot hoops. This time the St. Louis native got shots up on stage at a rap concert.
Sunday night rapper Jack Harlow played a show at the new MGM Music Hall in Fenway. At one point, Harlow brought the former Duke standout out on stage, who pumped up the crowd before sinking some free throws on a makeshift backyard rim. Blake Griffin, Payton Pritchard and Grant Williams were in attendance cheering their teammate on.
Harlow, meanwhile, not only played in the 2022 Celebrity All-Star Game but was also spotted courtside supporting the Celtics during their postseason run this year. He also pulled Devin Booker on stage in a similar way at a recent show in Phoenix.
Even if you don’t know who Jack Harlow is, certainly seeing Jayson Tatum connecting with the city of Boston is a good sign. The Celtics play one more preseason game on Friday, Oct 14 in Montreal against the Raptors.

The last time we saw Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker on a basketball court, it didn’t go particularly well for his team.
Phoenix was eliminated from the postseason by Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, and it was fairly embarrassing. Although the playoffs did not end how Booker would have imagined during the season, there is always promise at the start of a new campaign.
Before training camp and the preseason begins, however, Booker was able to spend an evening enjoying himself at a Jack Harlow concert in the Phoenix. Harlow, a rapper whose debut album was certified platinum in 2021, invited Booker on stage during the performance.

Harlow’s stage setup featured the replica of a home, and that included a basketball hoop above a garage.
It wasn’t surprising to see Harlow, a Celtics fan who participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Cleveland this past season, have a sports theme to his show when he was on stage. Harlow was recently a guest host on ESPN’s College GameDay.
What was surprising, though, was to see that Booker missed his shot when he was given a basketball to shoot.
You can hear the shock and devastation from the crowd when the shot clanks against the rim and does not fall in the basket. In fairness to Booker, it’s a lot of pressure to perform and the hoop wasn’t regulation.
Devin Booker is a walking bucket even at Jack Harlow’s concert 💯
Fortunately, though, the rapper gave Booker another opportunity. Booker was able to redeem himself on his second chance, but the damage was probably already done.
Folks who attended the show will remember it as the night that Booker missed a free throw while on stage with Jack Harlow.
The Tigers are the betting favorite in Sunday’s season-opener against the Florida State Seminoles, but the folks in Vegas aren’t the only ones who like LSU to get the win in coach Brian Kelly’s debut.
During ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast on Saturday, the guest picker was rapper Jack Harlow. Hosts Lee Corso and Desmond Howard picked FSU, but Harlow joined with Kirk Herbstreit in picking the Tigers.
His justification didn’t have much to do with what’s going to happen on the field, but rather who Harlow has been kicking it with.
“I was with [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] last night, so I’m rocking with LSU,” Harlow told the GameDay crew.
Harlow was in Columbus for GameDay, and he must have linked up with Burrow while in Ohio. It’s a not-so-subtle flex, but let’s be real. Who wouldn’t brag about hanging out with Joe Cool?
It may not be the most informed prediction, but here’s some food for thought: Harlow went 6-2 in his picks for Saturday’s games. Perhaps there’s a method to the madness.
The Tigers will hope his prediction rings true when they begin Kelly’s tenure in what should be a friendly crowd at the Superdome.
I’ve never dated a girl from Cincinnati, so I can’t relate. But I have, many of times, conned my way through a subject I have little to no knowledge of.
Great start to college football Saturday, I’d say.
The College Gameday crew, with invited guest rapper, Jack Harlow, split with their picks, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard picking the Hogs, Corso saying, “Arkansas is too strong,” followed by another comment that left the mind wandering.
Harlow made his choice based on his dating past in Cincy, Herbstreit surprisingly joining the platinum-rapper in selecting the underdogs.
College Gameday- Cinci vs Ark picks:
Jack Harlow- “I used to talk to this girl from Cinci and I really liked her so I’m rolling with Cinci”
Lee Corso – “Not so fast, it’s time to roll up the sleeves and bang em.. Arkansas in a close one” 😂😂
We had an idea who would be the starting quarterback for the Bearcats, but it’s been confirmed that Ben Bryant will make the first start of the season. Bryant came back to Cincinnati after transferring to Eastern Michigan in 2021. Bryant was Desmond Rider’s backup for three seasons.
Sources confirm to @BearcatJournal that Ben Bryant has been named the #Bearcats starting QB for their season-opening game at Arkansas this afternoon.
Bryant edged out Evan Prater for the job through camp and will be QB1 for the 2022 season
Sam Pittman is still guessing what the Bearcats will do, trying to figure out their offensive game plan. Now that the cat is out of the bag on who will be the starting quarterback, Pittman can implement the proper plan, but here is another Pittman quote, solidifying his spot as one of the more entertaining coaches in the south.
"Some guys bring iced tea, and some guys bring liquor. You just gotta figure out what they’re bringing.”
College football is back and with that comes ESPN’s College GameDay. The crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, David Pollack and Lee Corso joined the Irish on the road to Columbus, Ohio. They were joined by guest picker rapper Jack Harlow and picked winners of today’s game. Find out who they picked below.
