It was a true tale of two halves for Ohio State but they pulled out the victory and finished off the year with a 9-3 record after defeating Alabama A&M 90-59. In this game we saw the return of two Buckeyes ahead of a stretch of conference play.

There were plenty of good things that came with this win for Chris Holtmann and this ever improving group. The freshman continue to impress and the depth obviously increased with two Bucks competing back after time off. Here is what we learned from Ohio State’s solid win against an overmatched Alabama A&M team before the New Year’s Eve and the big game.

What we learned about Ohio State following the OT loss to North Carolina

Here are some things we took away from Ohio State’s loss to North Carolina Saturday. #GoBucks

At one point during the second half, it looked as though the Buckeyes were going to pull away from the Tar Heels. But last year’s NCAA Tournament runners-up would not go away. They battled back and showed why it is so important to have veteran leadership.

The young Buckeyes struggled down the stretch, and the older UNC squad took advantage of the situation. This will be a tough loss to swallow, but there were still a few things that the Buckeyes did that will help them later in the year.

Here are a few things that we learned about [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] after their tough 89-84 overtime loss to [autotag]North Carolina[/autotag].

Ohio State basketball officially announces addition of transfer Isaac Likekele

Welcome aboard Isaac! #GoBucks

The Ohio State basketball program officially announced the addition of former Oklahoma State guard Isaac Likelele on Monday.

With so much change and departure from the program because of graduation NBA moves, and transfer portal departures, the Buckeyes have been very active in the transfer portal themselves this offseason. Guard has been a spot that was significantly thin because of guys like Malaki Branham, Meechie Johnson, and Jamari Wheeler moving on from the program.

To address the need for more ball-handlers, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and staff went out and lured transfers Tanner HoldenSean McNeil, and Isaac Likekele. And while there was little chance of the last of those falling through, the program officially announced the addition in a tweet from the Ohio State Hoops Twitter account.

Likekele should provide some immediate help for Ohio State. He is a veteran and versatile player that can play the point guard position or swing to the forward spot if needed. He accumulated over 1,000 points, more than 600 rebounds, and over 400 assists in his time in Stillwater, and should be able to build upon that this winter.

Welcome to Buckeye Nation Isaac. We can’t wait to see what you bring to the banks of the Olentangy for the 2022-2023 season.

Ohio State basketball nabs transfer guard from Oklahoma State

The Buckeye basketball program got another versatile guard out of the transfer portal on Wednesday. #GoBucks

The Ohio State basketball team locked in another guard out of the transfer portal on Wednesday with the addition of Oklahoma State’s Isaac Likekele.

It’s been a whirlwind of an offseason already for head coach Chris Holtmann and the Buckeye basketball program. It lost a ton of guys to graduation, the NBA, and other reasons, but also tapped into the transfer portal to fill some gaps as well.

Likekele makes the third guard OSU has gotten a commitment from out of the portal this offseason and leaves no more scholarships available. He joins Sean McNeil from West Virginia and Tanner Holden from Wright State.

Originally out of Arlington, Texas, the 6-foot, 4-inch, 205-pounder spent the last four seasons at Oklahoma State where he averaged 8.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. He was the Cowboys’ fifth leading scoring last season but has an all-around floor game that should translate well to a roster in need of experience and that type of skill set at the guard spot. He was a Big Twelve all-conference honorable mention this past year.

Though Likekele is listed as a guard, he has the frame and ability to handle the ball or be slotted into a forward position, giving Ohio State and the coaching staff some options for next season.

Thankfully, we should be done with all of the transfer portal news for this team unless there is an unexpected defection. We more or less now know the makeup of the roster, and it’ll be very interesting to see how all the pieces fit as we head into a very unknown 2022-2023 season.
