Thoughts on another Ohio State Basketball loss, its fifth straight

Another ugly conclusion. #GoBucks

Entering the New Year, the [autotag]Ohio State Buckeyes[/autotag] basketball team was 10-3 and looked like one of the best teams in the conference. New Year’s Day would be their last win, proceeding to drop five straight, their most recent tonight to a very average Nebraska team, 63-60.

It’s added to a very frustrating time for Buckeye basketball, inching towards .500 with every loss. Head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] must have a warm seat right now, but with a few more losses it could be getting hotter.

Not much good came from this game, especially given the level of the opponent along with the long losing streak. This season has become increasingly frustrating and here some thoughts on the most recent loss.

What we learned about Ohio State’s fourth straight loss, this time at the hands of Rutgers

It’s been a tough stretch for the Buckeyes #GoBucks

The Big Ten isn’t easy and [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] is finding that out the hard way. The Buckeyes had a chance to get back into the win column today on the road at [autotag]Rutgers[/autotag], but the Scarlet Knights didn’t give in and defeated the visitors 68-64.

It is the fourth straight loss for [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] and his squad, putting their record to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play. It has been a horrendous 2023 showing for this team, as they have started the new year 1-4, with their only win coming over two weeks ago at [autotag]Northwestern[/autotag].

It wasn’t a pretty game for the Buckeyes as evidenced by the score. Here is what we learned after another loss for Ohio State.

What we learned about Ohio State basketball’s loss to Minnesota

It feels like we keep saying it, but this loss hurts #GoBucks

This wasn’t how the Ohio State basketball team envisioned playing against a [autotag]Minnesota[/autotag] team that had yet to win a conference game this season. The Gophers battled [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] all game, and never folded and kept playing hard.

The Buckeyes wouldn’t be able to match the visitors’ energy, resulting in a third loss in a row and potentially some panic starting in Columbus. The loss sends the Buckeyes to a 10-6 record.

Head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] got his starting center back, [autotag]Zed Key[/autotag] (even though he came off the bench), but it wasn’t enough for Ohio State to get back into the win column.

It obviously wasn’t all pretty for the Buckeyes and here is what we learned about their 70-67 disappointing loss to Minnesota.

What we learned about Ohio State’s road loss to Maryland

Not the Buckeyes best effort #GoBucks

The Buckeyes held a lead going into the half, but the start of the second stanza would be crushing for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]. [autotag]Maryland[/autotag] would build a 14-point lead and never relinquished it through the end of the game, winning 80-73.

It was the second loss in-a-row for the basketball Bucks, who fell to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. It is the first losing streak this season and the Big Ten portion of the schedule is just getting started.

There wasn’t much good to come out of this game, as it was a struggle for Ohio State much of the contest even with the halftime lead. Find out what we learned from this Buckeye defeat.

A tough L for the Buckeyes #GoBucks

What we learned about Ohio State following the OT loss to North Carolina

Here are some things we took away from Ohio State’s loss to North Carolina Saturday. #GoBucks

At one point during the second half, it looked as though the Buckeyes were going to pull away from the Tar Heels. But last year’s NCAA Tournament runners-up would not go away. They battled back and showed why it is so important to have veteran leadership.

The young Buckeyes struggled down the stretch, and the older UNC squad took advantage of the situation. This will be a tough loss to swallow, but there were still a few things that the Buckeyes did that will help them later in the year.

Here are a few things that we learned about [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] after their tough 89-84 overtime loss to [autotag]North Carolina[/autotag].
