Still too early in week to know Jamal Adams’ status for Sunday

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters it’s still too early to tell the health status of safety Jamal Adams heading into Week 5.

Seattle Seahawk Jamal Adams is itching to get back onto the football field, but it may be at least another week before the star safety will see any action.

Adams was inactive Sunday in Miami due to a groin injury he suffered the Sunday before in the game against the Cowboys. Coach Pete Carroll was asked about Adams’ status during his Monday press conference.

“I’m gonna hold out hope,’’ Carroll told reporters. “I don’t know Jamal real well in these situations. I know he’s dying to get back, he’s been sending me messages and stuff, how much he wants to play and get out there and all that. We’ll have to wait and see how that works.

“It’s just too early in the week to know.’’

The Seahawks don’t return to practice until Wednesday and are not required to release a participation report until then. Seattle’s next matchup is set for Sunday night against the Vikings.

The New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions reported their inactive players for Week 4’s game at Ford Field, including star WR Michael Thomas.

[jwplayer zUPDJZYG-ThvAeFxT]

The New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions reported their inactive players for Week 4’s game at Ford Field, and it didn’t carry many surprises. We knew that star wide receiver Michael Thomas was ruled out on this week’s injury report, as well as a handful of other starters, but they will be joined by backup defensive tackle Shy Tuttle (who made his 2020 debut against the Green Bay Packers in relief of injured starter David Onyemata, who has since returned to action). Adjust your fantasy football lineups accordingly.

Your full Saints inactive report:

In/Out: Terry McLaurin to play vs. Baltimore; Ravens without Ronnie Stanley, Derek Wolfe

Check out the full list of inactives for both the Washington Football Team and Baltimore Ravens ahead of Sunday’s game.

Washington fans got the news they wanted to hear on Sunday morning, with it being announced that wide receiver Terry McLaurin is good to go against the Baltimore Ravens. It was put in doubt earlier this week when McLaurin was placed on the injury report with a thigh injury and listed as questionable.

Aside from the obvious nice surprise of McLaurin, there are no major inactive that we didn’t know about in Washington:

  • No. 11 QB Alex Smith
  • No. 15 WR Steven Sims Jr.
  • No. 32 DB Danny Johnson
  • No. 55 LB Cole Holcomb
  • No. 77 T Saahdiq Charles
  • No. 99 Chase Young

As for the Ravens, here is their inactive list for the week:

Saints vs. Packers: Marcus Davenport, Davante Adams inactive for SNF

The New Orleans Saints will not have WR Michael Thomas and DE Marcus Davenport, while the Packers miss WR Davante Adams and DL Kenny Clark.

The New Orleans Saints will be missing some star power when they kick off against the Green Bay Packers on “Sunday Night Football” at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

New Orleans had already ruled out wide receiver Michael Thomas with an ankle injury, but the elbow issue that has sidelined defensive end Marcus Davenport the first two weeks will continue to keep him out of action. He wasn’t able to fully participate in practice this week (twice being listed as limited) so hopefully he’s progressing towards a return in Week 4.

Starting defensive tackle David Onyemata will also miss this game, having popped up on the Friday injury report with a calf problem. Second-year pro Shy Tuttle will make his 2020 debut in Onyemata’s place.

On the other sideline, the Packers will be without top wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive lineman Kenny Clark while they each recover from their own injuries.

The full inactive report for Week 3:

From the Saints:

  • WR Michael Thomas (ankle)
  • LB Chase Hansen (hip)
  • DE Marcus Davenport
  • DT David Onyemata
  • S D.J. Swearinger

From the Packers:

  • QB Jordan Love
  • WR Davante Adams
  • DB Parry Nickerson
  • LB Randy Ramsey
  • TE Josiah Deguara
  • DL Kenny Clark

Seahawks place defensive end Rasheem Green on injured reserve

The Seahawks have placed defensive end Rasheem Green on the injured reserve with a stinger – he can return to the roster after three games.

The Seattle Seahawks have added another defensive player to the injured reserve this week. Coach Pete Carroll announced Friday afternoon that defensive end Rasheem Green was headed to the IR with a neck injury (stinger).

“It’s just going to be a couple more weeks, so this was the right way to handle this,” Carroll told reporters after the team walkthrough. “We’re expecting him to come back to us. He’s just got to get through the process to make sure he can pass his tests. It’s going to be a couple weeks, we think, so this is going to work out OK in terms of putting him down, and he’ll be available to return.”

Green now joins defensive back Marquise Blair and linebacker Bruce Irvin on the injured reserve, although their seasons are over due to torn ACLs and upcoming surgeries. Green can return to the active roster once he sits out the required three games.

REPORT: Jedrick Wills active for Browns after Week 1 leg injury

Former Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills was questionable to return in the Browns’ Week 1 matchup against Baltimore after a leg injury.

Former Alabama Crimson tide offensive tackle Jedrick Wills has taken on a big role for the Cleveland Browns, the blind-side blocker for former Heisman Award winner baker Mayfield. After leaving the team’s Week 1 contest early due to a leg injury, Wills is active for their primetime matchup in Week 2 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals.

The news of Wills being active for the Browns in their Thursday Night Football contest against the Bengals was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Wills injured his leg in the third quarter of the Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The former Alabama tackle was drafted by the Browns with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 draft.

Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Jedrick Wills’ health as he continues to play throughout his rookie season in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.

Washington vs. Philadelphia inactives: Who’s not playing in Week 1

Both teams enter Week 1 of the 2020 season a bit banged up, with several players being listed as inactive.

A look at Seahawks’ injuries ahead of divisional round in Green Bay

The Seattle Seahawks hope to see the return of a few injured players in time for the divisional round matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

The Seattle Seahawks were able to get by the Philadelphia Eagles and advance to the divisional round of the playoffs despite a number of players battling injuries.

“All in all, we came out pretty clean of the game – pretty healthy,” Coach Pete Carroll told reporters Monday. “Still don’t know about a couple guys. Don’t know about Ziggy [Ansah] right now at this point. Don’t know about the guys that missed the game going forward to this week. I can’t tell you much about those guys until we get into this week, but I’m sure you’ll ask. Going to Green Bay. Here we go.”

Besides Ansah (stinger), Carroll did provide a number of other updates on players who will be monitored this week.

Guard Mike Iupati (neck): “He had a few episodes the week before,” Carroll explained. “Just didn’t quiet down in time. It has quieted down when he’s had the episodes in the past. He’s still symptomatic today. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen this week.”

Tackle Duane Brown (knee/biceps): “I can’t tell you until we get him back out here,” Carroll said. “He’s doing some stuff with the guys right now. I don’t have any updated information for you. We’re trying to see if he can get back.”

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (core): “So far, he’s okay,” Carroll confirmed. “It sounds like, the report I just got is that he’s playing this week. He’ll be alright to make it. We’ll have to manage him throughout the week.”

The Seahawks have an off day Tuesday but return Wednesday to prepare to face the Packers.

Eric Kendricks suits up for wild-card round on Saints vs. Vikings inactive report

The New Orleans Saints injury report preemptively ruled out Eli Apple and Zach Line for their wild-card round game vs. the Minnesota Vikings

[jwplayer MgrvgHyE-ThvAeFxT]

The New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings published their official inactive lists before Sunday’s wild-card round game, and it doesn’t carry many surprises. Several players were preemptively ruled out on Friday’s injury report while managing various issues — that group includes starting Saints cornerback Eli Apple and fullback Zach Line, as well as Vikings nickel cornerback Mackensie Alexander.

New Orleans was without both Apple and Line a week ago, and their fill-in replacements played well. Veteran cornerback Janoris Jenkins closed out the regular season with a timely interception, while former Saints practice squad call-up Ricky Ortiz threw some key blocks and caught a pass or two in Line’s absence.

It’s less clear how Minnesota will adapt, because neither Alexander nor his backup (slot specialist and punt returner Mike Hughes, who is on injured reserve) will play. While both of the Vikings’ starting cornerbacks are active, they could have to press a safety into slot coverage or rush returns specialist Marcus Sherels into the role. Considering Sherels only played a combined 74 defensive snaps from 2014 to 2018, it’s unlikely the Vikings take that option.

One path they could consider is shifting linebacker Eric Kendricks into the slot when the matchup works favorably — such as when the Saints position a tight end or running back into the alignment. Kendricks is widely considered to be one of the NFL’s best coverage linebackers, though he was slowed down with a quadriceps injury in recent practices. He’s also been picked on by Alvin Kamara in the past. But Minnesota might not have better choices.

With all that said: here are your official inactive reports from both the Saints and Vikings:

From the Saints

  • CB Eli Apple (ankle injury)
  • FB Zach Line (knee injury)
  • OL Will Clapp
  • OL Ethan Greenidge
  • LB Manti Te’o
  • DE Noah Spence
  • DB D.J. Swearinger

From the Vikings

  • CB Mackensie Alexander (knee injury)
  • WR Laquon Treadwell
  • DL Hercules Mata’afa
  • DL Eddie Yarbrough
  • OL Dru Samia
  • OL Oli Udoh
  • OL Aviante Collins

Seahawks still saddled by injuries to defensive starters

The Seattle Seahawks lost two running backs Week 16, but it’s been the defensive side of the ball that has been most impacted by injuries.

The Seattle Seahawks were dealt a number of hard blows in their Week-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, including potential season-ending injuries to running backs, Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise.

But until Sunday, it was mostly the defensive side of the ball with the most health concerns. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was inactive for his second-straight game with core troubles and cornerback Shaquill Griffin has been sidelined in as many matchups with a hamstring injury.

“Both those guys were not right, they couldn’t make it back,” coach Pete Carroll said after the loss. “They both tried, and they weren’t right and they couldn’t pass the tests with the trainers. So, it wasn’t even a tough call when we got down to it. We held out hope that maybe they could turn a corner, but neither one of them did.”

Clowney and Griffin aren’t the only defenders battling injuries, Quandre Digss is still out with a high-ankle sprain and linebacker Mychal Kendricks and defensive end Ziggy Ansah only finally returned to the action Sunday afternoon.

“It’s interesting that a few of our guys – sometimes earlier in the season you get to the end of the week and they can make it back,” Carroll continued. “Here, these guys didn’t in this case. So, we’ll just see how that goes next week.”

Carroll did say that both Griffin and Kendricks would return to practice on Tuesday.

The Seahawks will need every healthy available player when they face off against the 49ers for the division crown Week 17.
