ManningCast schedule: What games will Peyton and Eli call in 2023?

There’s no ‘ManningCast’ tonight, but Peyton and Eli will be back on ESPN2 for the 49ers-Vikings MNF game next week.

After a hilarious fake search for a third host this offseason, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning have returned to ESPN2 this fall for a third season of the ManningCast (without a third host).

As they have done for the past two seasons, Peyton and Eli will have special guests join them on the alternate broadcast of Monday Night Football, but they will remain the two hosts of the popular show.

Disney will continue to carry its standard MNF broadcasts on main ESPN with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman serving as the commentators for the primary broadcast. The ten alternate ManningCasts featuring Peyton and Eli will be broadcast on ESPN2 and available to stream on NFL+.

Here is the full ManningCast schedule of games during the 2023 season.

Rookie Saints kicker Blake Grupe recognized as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Rookie Saints kicker Blake Grupe has been recognized as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after nailing a pair of 50-yard field goals and four extra points:

Rookie New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe has been recognized as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after nailing a pair of 50-yard field goals and four extra points in his team’s win over the New England Patriots.

Grupe has opened October by going 5-for-5 on field goals from distances of 37, 32, 44, 54, and 53 yards over the last two games; that’s a very impressive rebound from his missed 46-yarder in Week 3, which is the only field goal he hasn’t hit out of a dozen attempts. He’s 9-for-9 on point-after attempts this season.

Not bad for someone a lot of fans and analysts saw as a long shot to even make the team. Grupe competed hard throughout the summer with former Pro Bowl kicker Wil Lutz, and the Saints saw enough out of the first-year pro to justify trading Lutz to the Denver Broncos; for his part, Lutz is 8-of-9 on field goals and 11-of-12 on extra points this season.

Hopefully Grupe can maintain this high level of play. Points have been hard to come by for the Saints offense (at least until their latest game, a 34-0 shutout in New England) and every kick matters. The rookie has come through more often than not in his first five games. Let’s see how his first season in the pros continues.

Where the Bucs rank statistically after Week 5

The Bucs didn’t play football last week, but here is where they stand statistically in Week 5 regardless:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t play football in Week 5, and as a result, the team should be rested and ready to play in Week 6.

Because they didn’t play, the Bucs’ stats haven’t changed from last week, but the rankings they hold among the NFL have understandably changed a little bit due to that. Tampa Bay had the earliest bye week this year (along with the Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Chargers), so the rankings should even themselves out as the season goes on.

Here is where the Bucs rank statistically among the league after the action in Week 5, courtesy of Team Rankings:

Chris Jones grades as PFF’s fourth-best interior defensive lineman

Chris Jones’ impressive four-game run has earned him PFF’s fourth-highest grade among interior defensive linemen.

All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones has been a boon for the Kansas City Chiefs defense since returning from his holdout and is earning some seriously impressive grades from Pro Football Focus for his efforts.

Through five weeks of the 2023 season, Jones grades out as PFF’s fourth-best interior defensive lineman, trailing Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald by less than one point.

This feat is all the more impressive considering that Jones missed training camp and the preseason, essentially entering his regular season debut cold after more than six months away from the Chiefs. Jones’ holdout secured him performance incentives that raised the maximum value of the final year of his contract, and the prolific lineman seems intent on maximizing every bit of additional income he can through the end of the season.

In four games, Jones has tallied 4.5 sacks and is well on his way to justifying a high-dollar extension in the 2024 offseason.

Behind the Numbers: Packers trending in wrong direction following loss to Raiders

Going behind the important numbers of the Packers’ 17-13 loss to the Raiders in Week 5.

This is a Green Bay Packers team that is very much heading in the wrong direction after five games. Rather than seeing incremental improvements each week, the Packers, especially the offense, seem to be going backwards.

The defense was able to hold up its end of the bargain against the Las Vegas Raiders, but the offense struggled mightily. The Packers are now 2-3 heading into the bye week and are a team with more questions than answers. Everything needs to be under a microscope at this point.

Looking back on Green Bay’s performance, here are the stats and figures that defined what we saw on the football field.

Packers PFF grades: Best, worst players from Week 5 vs. Raiders

The Packers’ best and worst players from Week 5 vs. the Raiders based on grades from PFF.

An exceedingly poor performance from the passing game of the Green Bay Packers played a leading role in Monday night’s 17-13 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jordan Love threw three interceptions, spoiling an otherwise solid performance from the Packers defense.

Based on grades from Pro Football Focus, here are the best and worst performers from the Packers’ Week 5 loss to Raiders:

Which Chiefs earned the highest PFF grades in Week 5?

Check out which #Chiefs earned the highest marks from Pro Football Focus in Kansas City’s win over the #Vikings:

The Kansas City Chiefs won a close game in their Week 5 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, and are headed into a primetime matchup on Thursday night with a head of steam.

Though the seven-point victory that Kansas City earned on Sunday advanced their record to 4-1 to start the 2023 season, the Chiefs have plenty of work to do to get back to championship form heading into the meat of their schedule.

Several of the team’s stars were out in force against the Vikings, earning impressive grades from Pro Football Focus for their effort in the gritty win.

Check out which players earned the highest marks for their efforts below:

Broncos ranked 28th in NFL power rankings this week

The Broncos are considered a bottom-five team in NFL power rankings this week.

Following a 31-21 loss to the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos are now 1-4 under new head coach Sean Payton. That poor record has left the team ranked 28th in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports.

Believe it or not, that’s actually up one spot from the team’s No. 29 overall ranking last week. Here’s is Davis’ commentary on Denver after Week 5:

Naturally, when you crown yourselves with dopey “snowcapped” helmets, another Rocky Mountain meltdown is completely inevitable.

Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 4, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 20 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 23. The Broncos remain the lowest-ranked team in the division.

Denver will face the Chiefs in Kansas City on Thursday.

The Carolina Panthers are ranked No. 32 (last) and the San Francisco 49ers are ranked No. 1. To view the complete NFL power rankings going into Week 6, visit USATODAY.com.

WATCH: Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon gets Andy Reid fired up vs. Vikings

Jerick McKinnon offered some words of encouragement to Andy Reid ahead of the #Chiefs’ Week 5 win over the #Vikings.

The Kansas City Chiefs extended their winning streak to four games in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings, and are headed into their Thursday night tilt against the Denver Broncos with momentum on their side.

Though their latest victory is in the books, a video of running back Jerick McKinnon’s sideline persona hit social media on Monday, which took Chiefs Kingdom by storm.

In the short clip, McKinnon can be seen providing Reid with some pre-game encouragement before Kansas City’s kickoff in Minnesota. McKinnon’s larger-than-life personality was evident in this brief conversation with the long-tenured head coach, and the interaction made for a great moment of levity before the Chiefs’ grind-it-out road win in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Expect McKinnon to continue bringing his patently positive presence to each of Kansas City’s matchups in the coming weeks as the Chiefs make a midseason push to separate themselves from their capable competition in the AFC.

Packers lose 17-13 to Raiders: What went right, what went wrong

Breaking down the Packers’ 17-13 loss to the Raiders on Monday night in Week 5.

The Green Bay Packers started slow again, turned the ball over three times — including twice in the fourth quarter — and lost 17-13 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, dropping Matt LaFleur’s team to 2-3 with a two-game losing streak entering the Week 6 bye.

The Packers don’t play again until Oct. 22. They’ll have almost two weeks to figure what exactly happened during primetime losses to the Lions and Raiders in back-to-back weeks.

Here’s what went right, what went wrong, what it means and what’s next for the Packers coming out of Week 5:
