Report: Miami Heat among teams showing interest in Nets Blake Griffin

Reports indicate that the Miami Heat will aggressively pursue Brooklyn Nets veteran forward Blake Griffin in this upcoming free agency.

With NBA Free Agency just around the corner, teams are looking to re-bolster their rosters to make a postseason impact next year and it seems that Eastern Conference finalists’, the Miami Heat, are looking to get Blake Griffin from the Nets.

NBA insider Sean Deveney reports that Griffin made quite an impact on his value in his limited minutes against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

According to Deveney the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics, the Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers are the four organizations drawing interest in the slashing veteran.

An anonymous Eastern Conference executive told Heavy:

“He made a big, big impression around the league with the way he played against Boston, even though it was just a couple of games.”

The Heat are the “most likely” organization to pursue Griffin with the upcoming likely departure of P.J. Tucker. He is being pursued heavily by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Griffin is a seasoned veteran who brings leadership and experience to any roster that chooses to pick him up this free agency. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in two games in the playoffs after being out of the rotation for a majority of the season.

76ers, Heat and Mavericks ‘poked around’ Kyrie Irving sign-and-trade

Reports indicate that the 76ers, Heat and Mavericks had poked around for trade scenarios to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets.

With Kyrie Irving finally opting-in to his Brooklyn Nets contract, rumors indicate that three teams were “poking around” with sign-and-trade scenarios were the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.

NBA insider Shams Charania reports that the three teams looking into their rosters for a viable trade package were the 76ers, the Heat and the Mavs.

“Reports indicate that the 76ers, Heat and Mavericks had poked around for trade scenarios to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets,” said Charania. “But at the end of the day, he made a move where he said, ‘I’m gonna commit. I’m gonna go back to Brooklyn, I’m gonna opt-in.”

Charania made the report on the Pat McAfee Show, just a day following the news that Irving would opt-in for his final year with the Nets.

While rumors circulate that the Lakers haven’t stopped pursuing the seven-time All Star, Irving is still a topic of discussion for some teams around the league. The 76ers, Heat and Mavericks were reportedly the teams who looked into their rosters. The teams considered their trade packages for the former NBA champion.

Who knows if trade rumors for Kyrie Irving will ever be over, but for now it seems like the guard will stay in Brooklyn.

Chris Broussard’s mock trade has Kyrie Irving landing in Miami

Fox Sports’ Chris Broussard presents a Kyrie Irving mock trade that has the guard taking his talents to South Beach.

Over the last couple days the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving contract talks have stalled resulting in a ton of rumors, Chris Broussard proposed the following trade for Irving to end up with the Miami Heat.

Irving listed his preferred destinations including the Heat, which has caused such speculation that the Nets will ship him elsewhere. As contract talks between the two parties have stopped, analysts are creating mock trades for Brooklyn to get valuable assets back.

Sports personality Chris Broussard of First Things First declared that if he was the Brooklyn Nets that he would “require” Jimmy Butler.

Broussard proposed the following trade between the organizations.

The Miami Heat receive seven-time All Star Kyrie Irving alongside injured young talent Ben Simmons. In return Brooklyn will receive six-time All Star Jimmy Butler alongside progressing big man Bam Adebayo.

The trade proposal was discussed for quite a few minutes on the show.

Aggregate NBA mock draft 7.0: Ousmane Dieng moves into lottery, Jalen Williams top 20; trade talks

The NBA Draft is less than a week away, with more potential big trades on the horizon following the Christian Wood acquisition by the Dallas Mavericks, as noted throughout our new HoopsHype aggregate mock draft.

To get a better projection of where all of the projected top prospects stand currently, we compiled mock drafts from ESPN, The Athletic, Bleacher Report, The Ringer, Sports Illustrated, NBADraft.net, CBS Sports, SB Nation, Yahoo, Basketball News, and USA TODAY’s For The Win.

The most notable risers within the projected lottery selections included Dyson Daniels moving up further within the top 10 picks, Ousmane Dieng becoming a projected lottery pick, and Jalen Williams vaulting into the Top 20 range. Jake LaRavia and Dalen Terry, two of the biggest risers throughout the draft process, have moved into the late first round.

Other risers in the second round include Ryan Rollins, Andrew Nembhard, David Roddy, John Butler, Michael Foster, Gabriele Procida, and Dereon Seabron.

The notable name that fell was MarJon Beauchamp, who now is projected outside the top 20 picks despite receiving a green room invite. Josh Minott and Jean Montero were among those whose stock fell in the second round.

NOTE: These rankings reflect the composite score to get a feel for the overall consensus, not our own opinion. For example, if a player was the first pick on a publication’s mock draft, he received 58 points. If a player was second, he received 57 points and so on. We then tabulated the total number of points for each player’s consensus ranking.

Heat offseason preview: Tyler Herro extension, free agents and trade market

Miami made a deep playoff run with what may be the most “Heat Culture” team ever in franchise history. They finished first in the Eastern Conference despite having no All-NBA players and being hit by plenty of injuries/load management for most of its starters. Jimmy Butler and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Bam Adebayo led this team to the fourth-best defensive rating this season. They also hit the jackpot on four young players on minimum deals who helped keep them afloat while their core players missed time.

This Heat squad is definitely good enough to win a championship and were very close, but they need to improve on the offensive end. The roster is mostly set going into next season but they could make another strong free-agent addition and could become a sneaky dark horse to trade for an impactful player.

Last night, Harden only attempted nine shots in an elimination game, finishing with 11 points. And as you would expect, Twitter had a field day with ‘The Beard’ and the 76ers’ elimination.
