Every potential Kyrie Irving trade destination so far, ranked

Kyrie Irving has a market, folks

Welp. That didn’t take long. With the NBA’s trade deadline just a few days away, it looks like there’s already a legitimate market out there for Kyrie Irving’s services.

Considering his history in the NBA and how — uh, let’s call it unpredictable — Irving can be, there was a question floating around about how many teams would potentially want to add the Nets’ All-Star to their roster.

It turns out there are already quite a few. According to multiple reports in the situation, there are already at least five potentially vying for Irving’s services.

Here, we have them all ranked from best to worst, starting with:

A look at every angle of Jimmy Butler’s absolutely incredible game-saving block on Devin Booker

Jimmy Butler is absolutely incredible

Jimmy Butler might have just made the best defensive play we’ve seen so far in this young NBA season.

Look, I know that feels like hyperbole. But it’s hard to block jump shots. Especially jump shots from elite scorers who do just about everything to throw you off your timing and get you up in the air.

That’s what Devin Booker tried to do against Butler in the waning moments of the Heat’s win against the Suns. The game was on the line with the Suns down 1. They’d just gotten the ball back from an offensive rebound on the possession prior.

Booker got the ball with a chance to win the game for Phoenix. He jabs steps. Jabs again. Takes off to his right hand and then rises up.

Butler takes care of the rest of it. Take a look.

Jordan Poole’s hilarious reaction to being called for a 3rd carry violation in one game is simply amazing

Clearly, Jordan Poole doesn’t agree with these calls

Go through NBA history and pick out your favorite crossovers and dribble moves. There is almost bound to be an uncalled discontinued dribble — or “carrying” — violation somewhere in there.

That’s just how it goes, man. Allen Iverson used to do it. Kyrie Irving still does it. The rest of the league does it, too.

That’s why it felt like we were in an episode of the twilight zone when officials called Jordan Poole for carrying not once, not twice, but 3 times (!!!!!) in one single game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

That’s just something that doesn’t happen. And the thing about it is it isn’t really wrong — he certainly carried. But, as his teammates and coaches have said, it’s something that happens literally all the time.

But, hey, man. Rules are rules, I guess? Poole certainly didn’t appreciate it. His reaction to these calls was incredible.

Just take a look at this face.

Y’all.

This is so petty and I love it. It’s the face you make when you’re mocking someone you’re in the middle of an argument with. You know the face.

Is it childish? Yes. Absolutely. But is it perfect in every single way? Also, yes. Absolutely.

This is hands down going to be one of the best memes of the year. The people love it.

Is changing par the key to filling tee times during hot weather? A popular cooler company thinks so

If the mercury hits 103, that’s the score the golfers are attempting to beat.

Filling tee times in the middle of summer — especially as many spots in the South suffered through one of the most difficult hot-weather stretches in years — is an arduous task.

Paulie Dery, the chief marketing officer at Austin-based Yeti, and his team used the heat as a chance to get creative in expanding their reach into the golf space. The final product was a novel (and frankly, hilarious) golf tournament held at ShadowGlen Golf Club, just outside the state’s capital in the late August heat.

Heat Strokes by Yeti changes the narrative around par at a golf course; rather than a previously assigned score to match, par during this event is related to the day’s high temperature. If the mercury hits 103, that’s the score the golfers are attempting to beat.

The company developed a toolkit containing everything a local course would need to promote this new scoring system. The event kicked off with a shotgun start featuring 18 foursomes (72 players) in total, with a goal of playing the full tournament during the hottest window of the day.

Of course, the cooler maker came up with specific products to surround the tournament, and the idea proved a winner — within three hours of opening registration for the event, all the tee times were filled.

“If you think about it, we started in fishing because we love fishing, and we’ve solved a problem that we could stay out fishing longer. If we had a nice cooler to stand on and keep our fish fresh, but then it found the outdoors, right?” Dery said. “It found alpine, it found surf, it found barbecue. It found all these places that we never built the thing to manage. But once we saw it take footing, we then invested in those communities.

“Golf is one of those other ones. We never built this stuff for golf carts, but that’s where we see it all. And so it’s the time where you’re like, OK, the golf community has embraced the product, let’s get more involved.”

Now that the concept has been vetted, Dery hopes to offer it up to other courses throughout the country as a pre-packaged promotional tool for courses throughout the south to use to entice golfers at the hottest time of day.

“It doesn’t look like it’s going to get any cooler in the future,” Dery said.

Summer golf: Gear you need to play in the heat

Gear every golfer can use to stay hydrated, cooler and protected from the sun.

For the past week, huge swaths of the United States have felt record-breaking heat, with golf lovers sweltering from Rhode Island to parts of Oregon. With August still a week away and plenty of summer golf to be played, it’s important to plan ahead and have a few things handy.

The best way to beat the heat is obvious: Play as early in the morning as possible or late in the afternoon or evening. Days are long now, so a quick nine holes as the sun comes up or after an early dinner can help you avoid the hottest parts of the day. If that’s not possible and you know you’re going to be playing through the middle of the day, these things can protect you from the sun, keep you hydrated and help you stay cooler.

Report: Heat to ‘exhaust all stops’ in pursuit of Nets’ Kevin Durant

Reports indicate that the Miami Heat are willing to exhaust all options in order to get former MVP Kevin Durant.

While Kevin Durant is awaiting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, the Miami Heat are reportedly pulling out all the stops in an attempt to get the former MVP.

Heat writer Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald has reported that the Heat are set on acquiring Kevin Durant via trade package.

Jackson tweeted, “Andy [Elisburg] and Sean [Marks] were chatting at their hotel. [The] Heat determined to exhaust all options to acquire Durant before pursuing anything else significant. Donovan Mitchell obviously looms as an option, though he hasn’t requested trade and Jazz isn’t shopping him.”

A trade package for Durant would likely need a plethora of both young talent, established stars and even future draft picks. The Nets are ‘likely’ to demand either Devin Booker or Bam Adebayo in a trade for the sharpshooting forward.

Durant listed only two destinations in his preferred landing spots: The Heat alongside Jimmy Butler and co. in South Beach and the Phoenix Suns.

Donovan Mitchell: His potential trade destinations

The NBA world felt shockwaves when the Jazz sent Rudy Gobert to Minnesota in a blockbuster trade for a historic return. When the Jazz got eliminated from the playoffs in April, speculation began on whether the Jazz would break up their All-Star duo and enter a rebuild. In our offseason preview for the Jazz, we concluded that they were in good hands for a rebuild under newly hired Danny Ainge because of his history of extracting optimal value in trades.

The former Boston Celtics executive managed to outdo his previous haul from the 2013 trade with the Brooklyn Nets by not only getting three unprotected first-round picks again (2023, 2025, 2027), but also an additional Top 5 protected first in 2029. If you include this year’s 22nd overall pick, Walker Kessler, the Jazz got five first-round picks for Gobert, all without taking on any long-term money. They also traded Royce O’Neale to the Nets for a first-round pick on the eve of free agency.

Now the big question is, what happens next? And what that really is asking is if the Jazz will also trade Donovan Mitchell now that the roster has taken a major competitive hit in the short term. As hard as it is to move an all-time generational defender, who by all accounts was fully bought-in to the organization and the city of Utah, the return they got was too good to pass.

NBA rumors: Kevin Durant, Rudy Gobert, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr, Donte DiVincenzo, more

With most of the top players off the board, the trade market has come to the forefront with a blockbuster Rudy Gobert trade, and now all eyes are on Kevin Durant’s next potential destination following his recent trade request.

Below is the latest intel gathered by HoopsHype on trade talks surrounding Durant, Gobert, OG Anunoby, and Gary Trent Jr. Plus, behind-the-scenes notes on the free agent decisions of Donte DiVincenzo, Jae’Sean Tate, Royce O’Neale, Chris Boucher, and Thaddeus Young.

Kevin Durant: His potential trade destinations

The 2019-2022 Brooklyn Nets truly will be the biggest what-if team in NBA history. Last week, a contractual dispute between Kyrie Irving and the Nets started to give Kevin Durant a wandering eye. Now Durant has reportedly asked for a trade, according to Shams Charania.

Several teams must have been preparing for this moment after last week’s reports of Durant’s uncertain future in Brooklyn. Last week, we discussed Irving’s potential trade destinations and how his departure could trigger an immediate rebuild for the Nets. Durant is still one of the best players in the league and maintains enough trade for the Nets to extract every asset playoff teams have to offer. The HoopsHype staff voted Kevin Durant as the 13th best player in NBA history, which would make him the second-best player to ever get traded in the modern era under Shaquille O’Neal.

Unless traded to a team with enough cap space to fit Durant’s $44.1 million salary, the magic number for over-the-cap teams to acquire him is $35.2 million. assuming a deal gets done in the 2022-23 league year. Durant may not have the ultimate say towards which team he goes to considering he has four years, $198 million left on his deal, but the veteran superstar would likely still get to one of his preferred teams.
