Georgia football offers lengthy TE Kendre Harrison

Big North Carolina tight end recruit Kendre Harrison visited the UGA spring game and ended up with a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs

The Georgia football spring game is always a big draw for fans and recruits. The 2023 edition of G-Day was no exception.

Unranked tight end recruit Kendre Harrison received a scholarship offer from Georgia tight ends coach Todd Hartley when he attended the Georgia spring game on April 15.

Harrison is a member of the class of 2026. He met former Georgia tight end Darnell Washington, who was celebrating winning back-to-back national championships, on his visit to Athens, Georgia.

It was a memorable day for Harrison, who plays high school football for Reidsville High School in Reidsville, North Carolina. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound recruit is primarily considered a tight end, but also plays defensive end. Could he be the next great tight end at Georgia?

Georgia tight ends coach Todd Hartley has done an elite job of recruiting the tight ends position. Hartley is one of the top recruiters in the country.

Harrison is also a talented basketball recruit. He has a scholarship offer from Texas A&M.

Harrison announced his football scholarship offer from Georgia via Twitter:

G-Day, practice schedule set for Georgia football

Georgia football is returning for practice and the spring game, which will be held on April 16 after a month of practice.

Georgia football is returning for practice and the 2022 spring game. Georgia’s spring game, known as G-Day, will be held on Saturday, April 16. The scrimmage comes a month after spring practice begins on March 15.

Kirby Smart and Georgia have the challenge of refocusing following their 2021 national championship victory. Georgia football has to replace a lot of production on defense and at the wide receiver position.

Georgia’s spring game is critical for recruiting. Top recruits from across the country will travel to Sanford Stadium to watch the defending national champions. Kirby Smart and Georgia already have the top-ranked class of 2023 in the country.

UGA football has some interesting storylines throughout spring. Who will win the starting jobs at quarterback, offensive guard, linebacker, and more?

Georgia’s starting quarterback for much of 2021, Stetson Bennett, only attempted four passes in the 2021 spring game. Fans should not put too much stock in the spring game, but it does provide a first glimpse at how the 2022 Georgia Bulldogs will look.

Here’s a look at Georgia’s full spring practice schedule leading up to G-Day:

G-Day: Freshman WR Adonai Mitchell turning heads

Freshman receiver Adonai Micthell is showing out for Georgia football in its annual spring game. Details here.

We’ve heard plenty of fuss this offseason about freshman receiver Adonai Mitchell, but we haven’t had the chance to see the former four-star recruit in action until now.

The Texas native is absolutely showing out for the Red team in Georgia’s annual spring game. He leads all receivers with five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Here are a few highlights from his big first half.

Georgia needs all the help they can get at receiver with star George Pickens out with an ACL tear and Mitchell can be a huge part of filling that gap.

The second half is about to kickoff with the Red team holding a 14-10 lead. You can tune in live on the ESPN app.

G-Day: Red team on the board with Zamir White touchdown

Georgia football is hosting its annual spring game right now from Sanford Stadium. Details here

Georgia football is hosting its annual spring game from Sanford Stadium right now on the ESPN app.

The Black team took off early and got on the board first with a Kendall Milton rushing touchdown and senior running back Zamir White just took his turn in the end zone with a two-yard run to tie the game up 7-7 in the second quarter.

A few notable players to watch are freshman quarterback Carson Beck, freshman tight end Brock Bowers and freshman cornerback Kelee Ringo. All have looked particularly good today.

Watch: Darnell ‘Big O’ Washington trucks defender on long run

Check out this huge catch and run from Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.

Georgia football is live right now on the ESPN app for its annual spring football game. Several Dawgs have made some great plays already, but this catch by tight end Darnell Washington takes the cake.

Washington is six-foot-7, 285 pounds and can flat run. It” like having an offensive lineman for a receiver. If offensive coordinator Todd Monken and quarterback J.T. Daniels can get the ball to him, SEC defenders may wind up on the ground.

Watch: Black team on the board first with Kendall Milton TD

Georgia football is hosting its annual spring game. Check out the first touchdown of the day here.

Georgia football is hosting its annual spring game right now in Sanford Stadium. It may be the first game of 2021, but redshirt sophomore running back Kendall Milton is looking strong. Check out Milton’s eight yard touchdown run that put the black team ahead in the first quarter.

You can watch the game live on the ESPN app.

G-Day will serve as a test for Georgia’s unexperienced secondary

Georgia football spring G-Day game will likely be a test for the Bulldog’s depleted and unexperienced secondary to prove themselves.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia secondary will have to replace five star defensive backs who have declared for the 2021 NFL Draft following the 2020 season.

The Georgia Bulldogs will miss cornerback Eric Stokes the most of all defensive backs who declared for the NFL Draft. Stokes was the Dawgs’ top cornerback in 2019 and 2020. The Covington, GA native is going to be difficult to replace and is expected to be an early NFL Draft selection.

Joining Stokes leaving for the draft is cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Richard LeCounte, defensive back Mark Webb and defensive back DJ Daniel.  Other than Kelee Ringo who has been recovering from injury, this was basically the entire UGA secondary for the 2020 season.

Georgia’s G-Day spring game this Saturday will have a big spotlight on the Dawgs’ defensive secondary.

Kirby Smart has already begun addressing the situation, hiring Jahmile Addae who spent the past two seasons coaching cornerbacks at West Virginia, which is also where he played from 2001-2005. Addae helped West Virginia become No. 1 in the country in pass defense last season, only allowing 159.6 passing yards per game. That is a massive difference from the Bulldogs 248.7 passing yards allowed per game in 2020.

Along with this coaching addition, Smart has also landed West Virginia defensive back transfer Tykee Smith.  Smith earned third-team All-American honors in 2020 after putting up 61 tackles, 5 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and 8 tackles for loss. He played a big role in the Mountaineers secondary last year and will now reunite with his coach at WVU.

G-Day will be a big test for Smith, as well as the rest of the Georgia secondary to prove they can fill some pretty big shoes that have been left vacant in the offseason.

Second-year cornerback Jalen Kimber has impressed coaches in spring ball and the former top cornerback recruit Kelee Ringo is still coming off of labrum surgery from the fall.  Ameer Speed will likely get time this Saturday as well.

G-Day kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Sanford Stadium.

Kirby Smart to live tweet Georgia football’s “Virtual G-Day” this Saturday

Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart will be live tweeting “virtual G-Day” 2019 UGA vs Notre Dame on Saturday on SEC Network

The annual G-Day game, UGA’s spring football game, was meant to be played this Saturday, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university came up with something different for fans during quarantine.

According to a statement from the University of Georgia, The SEC Network and Kirby Smart will be teaming up to replay the 2019 Georgia vs. Notre Dame game on Saturday, April 18 at 2 pm presented by Piedmont Healthcare.

In addition to Georgia coach Kirby Smart live-tweeting from his @KirbySmartUGA twitter account, the Bulldog radio team featuring Scott Howard, Eric Zeier and Chuck Dowdle, will be hosting a Facebook Live broadcast of the game with commentary.
