The Georgia Bulldogs have made yet another addition to their secondary by way of the transfer portal. Former Oregon Ducks defensive back Collin Gill, who had previously committed to the Temple Owls in May of this offseason, committed to the Bulldogs Thursday afternoon.

Gill is a former three-star recruit who redshirted his lone season with the Ducks. Listed at 6-foot, 215 pounds, he was recruited as a cornerback but played safety at Oregon, giving Georgia a versatile asset who can provide depth at either position. This depth is especially important as Georgia seeks to replace three starters from last season’s secondary in Javon Bullard, Kamari Lassiter, and Tykee Smith, all of whom were drafted in the first three rounds of this year’s NFL draft.

Gill played high school football at St. John’s in Washington, D.C. He chose the Ducks originally over Ole Miss, Missouri, Washington State, and a host of other teams.

With the addition of Gill, Georgia has now added nine transfers this offseason, including another addition to the secondary in former Alabama safety Jake Pope.

Gibson, originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, first committed to the Trojans in March. Gibson is considered by many services to be the top EDGE rusher in the class of 2025.

Gibson is listed at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds. He led Warner Robins High in sacks and hurries a season ago with 17 and 55 respectively, making a habit of terrorizing opposing quarterbacks. In addition to football, Gibson also plays basketball at the school. He visited Georgia on May 31, and has upcoming visits scheduled to Ohio State and Auburn as well.

Georgia currently has one EDGE rusher committed in the class of 2025, that being Darren Ikinnagbon out of New Jersey. When asked why he chose Georgia, Walker told 247Sports, “Because they check every box. Getting me to the next level, making me the best I can be on and off-the-field. Great head coach, good winning program. They really check every box. So it’s more of a ‘Why not?’ type of deal with Georgia.”

Walker’s commitment gives the Bulldogs their highest rated player in the class of 2025 thus far. He joins four-star Jadon Perlotte out of Buford as the second linebacker currently committed in this cycle.

The four-star is projected to commit to Florida State. Georgia should not be counted out because of the Dawgs’ prowess on the recruiting trail. Georgia has an excellent reputation of producing NFL draft picks at the linebacker position and has recently recruited the position better than any other team in the nation.

Georgia has nine commitments in the 2025 cycle including one from elite linebacker Jadon Perlotte. July is going to be a very busy recruiting month for Georgia with a number of elite prospects making commitments.

Two former Georgia players included on 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Former UGA running back and former defensive tackle considered for 2025 College Football Hall of Fame

The ballot for the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class was announced early Monday, and two Bulldogs legends were among those included. Former running back Garrison Hearst and former defensive tackle Richard Seymour were listed among 77 total players on the ballot to be considered for induction.

Hearst played three seasons for the Bulldogs from 1990 to 1992, culminating in a junior year campaign that saw him rush for 1,547 yards on 228 carries with 19 touchdown runs. Hearst would win the Doak Walker Award and finish third in the Heisman Trophy voting for that year. He would go on to be drafted by the then Phoenix Cardinals third overall and play 12 seasons in the NFL.

Seymour played four years for the Bulldogs, earning all-conference selections in his junior and senior seasons. He would also earn all-American honors as a senior, recording 78 tackles and 10.5 tackles-for-loss in his best statistical year as a Bulldog. Seymour would also play 12 seasons in the NFL, winning three Super Bowls during his time with the New England Patriots. He was elected to the pro football Hall of Fame in 2022.

21 former Georgia Bulldogs are currently in the Hall of Fame. Hearst’s lack of inclusion is particularly notable based on his high standing in Georgia football history as well as the recency of some other running backs included on this year’s ballot such as Kenjon Barner and Montee Ball. The official announcement of the class will be made in early 2025.
