Injury update on Georgia football DL Christen Miller

Starting Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller exited the UMass game with an upper body injury

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Christen Miller left in the first half of Georgia’s 59-21 win over the UMass Minutemen with a right shoulder injury.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart confirmed Miller suffered a dislocated shoulder. Smart noted that Miller’s shoulder was popped back into place.

“Something with his shoulder, I’m not real sure exactly what. I don’t know, I think they put it back in, it dislocated, and they put it back in, but I’m not sure,” said Smart after Georgia’s win.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound sophomore defensive lineman is a key part of Georgia’s defensive rotation up front. Miller has 21 total tackles and 1 1/2 sacks this season.

Miller will have a short week to try to get ready for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets game on Friday, Nov. 29.

If Miller is unable to play against Georgia Tech, defensive linemen Jordan Hall, Warren Brinson, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and Xzavier McLeod to play more snaps.

Georgia’s run defense struggled against UMass. The Bulldogs allowed 226 rushing yards in an unsteady performance.

Key Georgia WR ruled out vs Florida

Georgia’s top punt returner is out against Florida. The Bulldogs are down two wide receivers against the Gators.

The Georgia Bulldogs will be down another wide receiver against the Florida Gators.

Sophomore wide receiver Anthony Evans is out for the Florida game after a recent update to the SEC football injury report. It is unclear what Evans’ injury is. Evans is Georgia’s top kickoff and punt returner.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver has nine receptions for 88 yards this season. Evans also has one run for 52 yards, six kickoff returns for 105 yards and 14 punt returns for 118 yards. Georgia will miss Evans’ versatility.

No other Bulldog has returned a punt or kickoff this season, so it is unclear who will step in for Evans. Georgia may turn to Dillon Bell on kickoffs. Joenel Aguero returned one punt in 2023, so he could be Georgia’s top punt returning option in 2024 with Evans out. Sacovie White is another name to watch at punt returner.

Georgia is already without wide receiver Colbie Young, who is suspended indefinitely.

Georgia football starting OL undergoes surgery, out for several weeks

Georgia football star offensive lineman will miss several weeks after having ankle surgery. How long will he be out?

Georgia Bulldogs star offensive guard Tate Ratledge is set to miss an extended period of time after undergoing tightrope surgery on his ankle. Ratledge suffered a sprained MCL and ankle in Georgia’s 13-12 win at Kentucky.

The All-American and All-SEC offensive guard is expected to be out through at least Georgia’s Nov. 2 game against Florida.

“Tate (Ratledge) does have an ankle (injury). He’s had tightrope already and he’s in the rehab process already,” said Georgia football coach Kirby Smart. “We checked at the night of the (Kentucky) game and had to get it fixed and he’s getting it fixed already. So, he’ll be back as soon as he can and expect a healthy and full recovery.”

Georgia will play offensive guard Micah Morris more in Ratledge’s absence. Additionally, Georgia will play offensive tackle Monroe Freeling more snaps with Ratledge out.

Exactly how long Ratledge will be out is unclear. Last season, Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims left the South Carolina game on Sept. 16, 2023, and underwent tightrope surgery. Mims did not return until Georgia’s Nov. 11, 2023, game against Ole Miss. Mims returned for three games, but was forced to exit early in Georgia’s 2023 SEC championship loss against Alabama.

If Ratledge misses the same amount of time as Mims, then he would be projected to return on Nov. 9 for the Ole Miss game.

Georgia football’s projected starting center Jared Wilson has been missing practice with a leg injury

The Georgia Bulldogs have been without projected starting center Jared Wilson in recent practices. Wilson is missing important reps ahead of his first season as a starter.

“Jared’s doing well,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. “He’s been dealing with Achilles tendonitis. He’s been great. He’s worked on the side. He’s been able to push, but he was able to do some things yesterday and continues to ramp up his exposure and ramp up his reps. So, he’s doing well.

Wilson has a chance to return to action for Georgia’s season opener against Clemson on Aug. 31. If Wilson is out, backup center Drew Bobo would  project to start. Georgia could also play Tate Ratledge at center and insert Micah Morris into the starting lineup.

The Dawgs will miss last season’s starting center, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger. Van Pran-Granger, who went in the 2024 NFL draft, was named the SEC’s top offensive lineman for his efforts in 2023.

Georgia Bulldogs left tackle Jamaree Salyer has been ruled out for the Missouri game with a foot injury. Salyer is additionally expected to miss the Tennessee game on Nov. 13.

Salyer is considered to be UGA’s top 2022 NFL draft prospect along the offensive front. He brings experience, talent, and physicality to the Georgia offensive front.

In Salyer’s absence, offensive line coach Matt Luke is anticipated to turn to redshirt freshman Broderick Jones. Jones, a former five-star recruit, has played in all eight of UGA’s games this season. He filled in for Salyer late during the Auburn game.

It will be interesting to see how Georgia shuffles the offensive line. The Bulldogs have started the same group of Warren Ericson, Justin Shaffer, Sedrick Van Pran, and Warren McClendon along with Salyer since the Dawgs played UAB.

Kirby Smart and company frequently switch up the offensive line rotation when games get out of hand.

Ugasports.com and Dawgs247 reported the news on the Salyer’s foot injury first.

Report: Georgia RB to miss rest of spring practice with elbow injury

A Georgia running back is recovering from an elbow injury suffered in a UGA spring practice. Details here.

Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh suffered a dislocated elbow in a  spring practice session and will miss the rest of spring training, according to a report by UGAsports.com’s Dayne Young.

McIntosh confirmed the report with this post to his Instagram account on Sunday morning.

McIntosh posted this photo to his Instagram story.

McIntosh had an MRI done and the results showed that no surgery is needed.

Georgia shouldn’t miss a beat in spring drills without the third year back. One of the Bulldogs’ deepest positions is at tailback with all of 2020’s production returning, headlined by seniors Zamir ‘Zeus’ White and James Cook.

Sophomores Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards will have a chance to get more reps with McIntosh out.

McIntosh has been an explosive part of Georgia’s rush and kick-return game over the last two seasons. In 2019, McIntosh flashed speed and vision abilities with 174 yards and 7.0 yards per carry on just 25 attempts and in 2020, finished as the Bulldogs’s third-leading rusher with 251 yards on 47 carries and one touchdown.

Jamie Newman, Broderick Jones, James Cook, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis and Richard LeCounte are just a few of the guys we can see in action here.

A few guys, however, did have to miss practice one due to injury.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart said in a press conference Sunday night that senior inside linebacker Monty Rice is limited with a foot injury, but ‘he’s taken a lot of reps and played a bunch.’

Also despite recent reports that he was cleared to resume practice, sophomore wide receiver Dominick Blaylock is still restricted due to an ACL tear suffered last season.

Smart said, “He is not completely clear to practice or play, he is going to have a black shirt on .”

Here is the full injury list for week one of preseason practice.

WR Dominick Blaylock (knee)

QB JT Daniels (knee)

LB Monty Rice (foot)
