Xbox camping gear encourages gamers to explore the outdoors

Even Xbox wants gamers to go outside now.

It’s time to put down the controller and put on your hiking boots. In a surprising move, Xbox has released a collection of branded camping gear. Dedicated gamers can now browse the 14-product line for everything from a camping utility vest to a packable hammock.

“Whether you’re exploring the great outdoors or planning to establish base camp in the living room, get outfitted with our latest collection of comfy and functional gear,” the Xbox website states.

The signature green and black Xbox color scheme decorates each piece in the collection. Mostly comprised of clothing, the camping gear line features shirts, shorts, jackets, hats, a Nalgene bottle, a folding chair, a hammock, and more. Prices range from $79.99 for items like the windbreaker and anorak to $11.99 for an Xbox-themed bandana.

Designed in collaboration with Dotexe, the collection is interesting if a little baffling. As Polygon writer Ana Diaz joked in a tongue-in-cheek article about the gear, “It’s a really thoughtful gesture from Xbox, given how many times people have replied to my own posts telling me to go touch grass. Now I (and you too) can go and do that!”

Whether you’re preparing for a camping trip or simply want to see what the buzz is about, the products are now available on the Xbox website.

Betting execs aren’t worried about match-fixing in major sports. It’s the lower-rated games that can cause trouble

Still, we’re talking less than one percent of games here.

Match-fixing is a big headache in the gambling industry. Whether it’s a player helping intentionally throw a game, or betting markets experiencing strange wager patterns, a lot of money is impacted by the integrity-lacking acts.

ESPN’s Dave Purdum was at the SBCAmericas conference earlier this month in which various gaming executives discussed the different ways limit the amount of illicit activities in the betting world. Specifically: “Is the sports betting industry doing everything it could to combat match-fixing?”

Purdum mentioned that less than one percent of sporting events find “suspicious betting patterns” and there are clear areas where misconduct is occuring:

The bulk of the events that attract suspicious betting are lower-level events, like minor-league tennis and soccer. The bad news is that regulated U.S. sportsbooks continue to offer betting on these vulnerable events, instead of distinguishing themselves from the unregulated market by refusing to offer things like low-level tennis, soccer and table tennis.

Jake Williams, a senior vice president of strategy and operations at PointsBet, wasn’t sure that removing those markets could actually lead to more integrity issues, essentially arguing that without major books monitoring these events, they become more accessible to bad actors.

“Is that going to push someone to the local bookie, to the offshore operator who does offer it?” Williams said. “I think there’s reasonable limits to these questions. I think there’s a healthy amount of debate that’s required to where the line is and where the line is blurry.”

Williams was joined on the panel by representatives from the NFL, the International Betting Integrity Association and the Global Lottery Monitoring System.

GLS president Ludovica Calvi also thinks banning markets altogether would be a mistake, and sees the good in keeping them open while teaching the public some signs of misconduct.

“As long as you can control and monitor within a regulated environment, you are in much safer conditions than having everything always under water,” Calvi said. “It’s not through banning that you achieve and find the solution. It’s education and prevention.”

Still, Purdum brings up the idea of international betting data companies simply not offering their odds to the smaller, independent sportsbook that lack the resources to create odds on lower-level sporting events.

“If those odds aren’t provided, it’s possible the books stop offering those events or, at minimum, reduce betting limits.”

Every game on the New Orleans Saints’ 2022 schedule

And we’re off: the New Orleans Saints unveiled their schedule for the 2022 season on Thursday evening, and now we know just about everything for the games on their slate. Here’s what you need to know about when the Saints will face every opponent in front of them for 2022:

LOOK: The New Orleans Saints’ 2022 schedule is here

Finally: the New Orleans Saints have announced their schedule for the 2022 season, including three prime-time kickoffs and an international game in London. Expectations are high for New Orleans despite a tumultuous offseason that saw Sean Payton step down as the team’s longtime head coach, replaced by Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen; now, the team is looking to improve on their 9-8 record from last year and get back to the postseason.

That’s easier said than done, especially considering the hurdles in front of the Saints. They’re scheduled for nine games with teams returning from the playoffs last season, and they won’t get a chance to rest during their bye week until Week 14. Plus, the year starts out with three NFC South rivalry matchups before a long road trip overseas. A rough start to Allen’s tenure could sink their season before it has a chance to get off the ground. Still, the Saints have built an experienced team that should compete each week. Here are the games on their 2022 schedule:

Here’s how to cash in on NFL players hitting their incentives in Week 18

There’s a lot of money to be made in Week 18, both for individual players and bettors.

The final week of the NFL regular season is always one of the stranger times of the year. A third of the league is preparing for the postseason, a handful are tanking for draft position and the rest just want to make it to the end of the schedule without any major injuries.

All of these teams share one common thread: star players who are so close to hitting their contract bonuses they can already plan extended vacations. That leaves an opportunity for NFL bettors to tail key contributors gunning for an extra pay day.

Call it the All-Incentive Parlay. Here’s who we’re riding with.

Notre Dame-Virginia: Staff Predictions

What happens Saturday night under the lights at Virginia?

No. 9 (CFP) Notre Dame’s toughest remaining test of the 2021 regular season comes Saturday night as the Irish travel to Virginia.  The task at hand will be to slow one of the nation’s best offenses as the Cavaliers are averaging 38.9 points per game which ties them with North Carolina for the sixth-most by a Power Five team.

Notre Dame will again be without Kyle Hamilton while Virginia starting quarterback Brennan Armstrong’s availability won’t be publicly known until kickoff after he suffered a rib injury at BYU two weeks ago.

Notre Dame’s only previous trip to Charlottesville ended in dramatic fashion.  Will this trip end similarly?

Here is what the Fighting Irish Wire staff sees happening on Saturday night:

Notre Dame-Navy: Staff Predictions

Do you think Notre Dame good this year?

Notre Dame sits at 7-1 on the year which would normally be good enough to have them in the College Football Playoff conversation entering November but due to a variety of things the Irish just to make a run at a berth currently seems unlikely, let alone them to actually get in.

The season continues with the second to last home game of the year Saturday as 2-6 Navy comes to town.  As bad as 2-6 is the Midshipmen are fresh off a win at Tulsa and did play unbeaten Cincinnati within a touchdown in their last two games.

Is this one a drubbing the records suggest it could be or does Navy make things interesting Saturday afternoon?

Here is what our experts at Fighting Irish Wire see happening as the Notre Dame-Navy rivalry is renewed Saturday:
