6 players the Bills should let walk in free agency this offseason

6 players the #Bills should let walk in free agency this offseason:

The Buffalo Bills will not re-sign all of their pending free agents this offseason.

It’s true, and for a variety of reasons. The team could want to upgrade. In other cases, whether it might be because of the money or roster size, it doesn’t make much sense for the Bills to keep certain faces around anymore.

Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane and his front office team will be in charge of making those decisions, but we have some ideas for him.

Here are six free agents the Bills should let walk this offseason:

2024 NFL draft mock: Bills select WR Troy Franklin in first round

A receiver name to watch for the #Bills:

Following the Super Bowl, our friends at the NFL Wire released an early offseason 2024 draft mock and the name Troy Franklin is one to keep in mind according to them.

In Touchdown Wire’s latest mock draft, the wide receiver is sent to the Bills at the No. 28 overall pick.

Franklin is a tall, 6-foot-3 playmaker that should put up yardage in the pros thanks to a strong ability to create separation, according to NFL.com. However, he does come with a smaller 180-pound frame.

This past season, Oregon had a promising year and Franklin played his part. He put up 81 catches, 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games played.

In a world with Franklin going to the Bills, it’s likely that Gabe Davis leaves in free agency… which appear probable to happen after he posted a goodbye message to Bills Mafia on social media.

Clips of Franklin’s game can be found below:

Gabe Davis might have posted a goodbye message to Bills Mafia

Gabe Davis might have posted a goodbye message to #BillsMafia:

It wasn’t a direct goodbye message, but it gave off that vibe.

Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis posted a lengthy message to his social media account on Instagram. It’s a timely highlight reel of his career so far as Davis is set to be a free agent in March.

In addition, the clip includes a message to fans, stating: “Bills Mafia, thank you for changing my life. Thank you for the memories.”

The video posted by Davis can be found below:

PFF: Bills’ Gabe Davis is 63rd best pending free agent in NFL

PFF: #Bills’ Gabe Davis is 63rd best pending free agent in NFL:

Gabe Davis became a polarizing player for the Buffalo Bills in 2023.

After a hot start to his career following his selection in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft, Davis has since cooled off. He went from postseason record setter to eventually recording multiple games without a single catch this past season.

Even so, Pro Football Focus is banking on the past success Davis has had. He was named as the NFL’s 63rd best pending free agent hitting the open market in March.

Davis ended up recording 45 catches, 746 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023 for the Bills. Realistically, because of Buffalo being near $40 million over next year’s salary cap, Davis is likely to test the free agent market.

But there have been players in the past that have done so and ended up returning to the Bills. It likely depends on whether or not another team may end up out-pricing the Bills. Speaking of, PFF estimates that Davis could earn a one-year, $12M deal this spring as a free agent. That might end up pricing Buffalo out.

Here’s how PFF came to their free agency conclusion on Davis:

Davis is your typical vertical threat out wide, averaging more than 15 yards per reception in every season of his career and coming down with a fair amount of contested catches with good high-pointing skills. However, Davis doesn’t have the fastest release off the line and doesn’t snap off in-breakers with a sharpness to create separation over the middle. He’ll help stretch the field outside the numbers for an acquiring team and can have some huge outings on occasion, but he can also be absent from the box score at times.

2024 NFL free agency: 15 Early potential targets for the Ravens

We’re looking at 15 early 2024 NFL free agents that the Baltimore Ravens could potentially target

We’re less than a month away from NFL free agency, which begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. But the legal tampering window opens two days before that on March 11 at noon ET, where teams can negotiate with free agents before the official start of the new league year.

The 2024 salary cap hasn’t been set yet, but it’s expected to land north of $240 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

The Ravens are among several NFL teams that have some work to do over the next month to rebuild their roster, and they’ll work to free up cash with two All-Pros set to hit free agency.

8 Bills players who could have played their last game with the team

8 #Bills players who could have played their last game with the team:

The 2023 NFL season has concluded as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58.

Unfortunately, the same Chiefs ended the Buffalo Bills’ run to the Big Game a few weeks prior. In that outing, Buffalo lost 27-24 to Kansas City.

As it always goes at this time of the year, changes are en route. Multiple players, even featured ones, might have put on the blue and red for the final time in their careers against the Chiefs… or even some that were injured and unable to play could’ve done so even longer ago.

With that, here are eight Bills players who could have played their final game for the team:

Full list of #Bills players who will be free agents this offseason:

As another season of NFL football has come to an end with the Chiefs topping the 49ers in Super Bowl 58, so does another series of contracts that have been signed.

Whether it be grizzled veterans or players seeing the end of their rookie contracts, there are plenty of faces who will no long be under contract with the Bills in March when free agency opens.

The Bills have plenty of time until then to sign players to extensions, but it’s never so cut-and-dry. According to Over The Cap, the team is estimated to be $49 million over the 2024 NFL salary cap.

Moves must be made and general manager Brandon Beane will earn his own salary with the decisions ahead.

10 WRs the Colts should target in free agency

The Colts should target these WRs in free agency.

The Indianapolis Colts are looking to be more explosive on offense in 2024 and one way to make that happen is with an addition to the receiving corps.

The first matter of business, of course, is the Michael Pittman Jr. contract extension. Chris Ballard will have to either come to an agreement with him by March 5 or use the franchise tag on him.

Odds say that MPJ will be a Colt next season but regardless of whether he walks or stays in Indianapolis, we’re taking a look at 10 receivers who should be on the front office’s radar in free agency.

We should note that we understand a handful of these players won’t even hit the market, but we’re working under the hypothetical scenario that they hit they become available, regardless of how slim the chances are.

5 Bills free agents who could follow Ken Dorsey to Browns

Could any of Dorsey’s former players in Buffalo join him in Cleveland?

Could Damien Harris or Gabe Davis follow their old offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey to the Cleveland Browns in free agency?

The Browns have massive needs at both wide receiver and running back. Outside of Amari Cooper and glimpses from Elijah Moore, Cleveland needs to overhaul the backend of that room. The running back room is no different as none of Jerome Ford, Kareem Hunt, nor Pierre Strong stepped up to the challenge after the season-ending injury to Nick Chubb.

While the 2024 NFL draft is always a massive possibility to improve both rooms, free agency is another (more expensive) pathway toward improving the roster. Could the Browns and new offensive coordinator Dorsey look to pull any of his former players away from Buffalo when the new league year starts?

Here are five Buffalo offensive players who will be free agents at positions of need the Browns could look to reunite with Dorsey in free agency.
