FOX ad campaign pushes people day to take off #SuperMonday

FOX is clever and now it has a campaign trying to get people to take off #SuperMonday.

FOX has the Super Bowl in 2020 and is building an ad campaign that will not make employers thrilled if employees take the network up on the idea.

The ad tells you that 17 million people took the day off after the game in 2019. And the Mayor of Monday is telling the audience that we can do better.

Check it out:

There’s another reason the network would like people to stick with it the day after the game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

It’s a novel thought. One that tests the thought of Andy Nesbitt of For The Win, who thinks the big game should be moved to Saturday. What would you rather see Monday off or the game a day earlier?

Eagles vs. Giants: TV broadcast map for Week 17

Here’s your TV broadcast map for Week 17, as it details who around the country will be able to see the Eagles vs. the New York Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles (8-7) will meet the New York Giants (4-11) at Met Life Stadium on Sunday, with a trip to the playoffs on the line. For the Eagles it’s simple, win and they are in, or a Cowboys loss to Washington works as well.

An Eagles loss and the Cowboys are in as the NFC East winners.

506 Sports has your viewing map for Sunday’s late game on Fox Sports and most of the country will see the Redskins try to ruin the Cowboys playoff chances in Dallas.

Only the upper northeast, parts of Florida, North Dakota and South Dakota will see Philadelphia in New York.

Eagles vs. Cowboys was highest-rated Week 16 game since 2015

Eagles vs. Cowboys was highest-rated Week 16 game since 2015

The Cowboys-Eagles rivalry has always been good for business and last Sunday’s Weeks 16 matchup with playoff implications was no different.

According to Sports Media Watch, the Eagles 17-9 victory over the Cowboys scored the NFL’s highest Week 16 ratings in four years.

Sunday’s Week 16 NFL national window (Cowboys-Eagles in 88% of markets) averaged a 14.2 rating and 25.32 million viewers on FOX, marking the highest-rated and most-watched Week 16 NFL window since 2015 (mostly Packers-Cardinals: 15.5, 27.81M).

The telecast ranks as the third-highest rated and fifth-most watched of the season. The Cowboys have played in three of the top five.

Five NFL windows this season have exceeded 25 million viewers, the most in a single season since 2016 (ten), and the Eagles have been involved two of those matchups (Patriots-Eagles).

Philadelphia was the top market followed by Seattle, where fans were monitoring the teams’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

What can’t Taysom Hill do? Saints’ Swiss Army knife struggles to juggle

New Orleans Saints QB Taysom Hill can juggle his responsibilities during a football game, but he’s not as talented in juggling tennis balls.

[jwplayer fvG4d6Ux-ThvAeFxT]

Sometimes it seems like Taysom Hill can do it all — at least on the football field. He can throw, he can catch, he can even run the ball himself and make plays on special teams. So it’s fair to wonder what he can’t do at a high level.

To find out, Hill sat down with Cooper Manning for an interview on the FOX Sports NFL pregame show. Manning has been splitting time with his brothers Peyton and Eli, and their father Archie, on the “Manning Hour, Minus 58 Minutes” segment throughout the 2019 season, and he took the opportunity to quiz Hill on his many talents.

Hill’s picked up a popular nickname as New Orleans’ own Swiss Army knife, owing to his efficiency in a variety of roles, but he didn’t have great knowledge of the many attachments on his namesake tool — beyond the knife itself and the scissors, anyway.

He also isn’t a great juggler, which is hilarious given how well he’s juggled so many different roles for the Saints. Hill also declined the opportunity to pull a rabbit out of a hat, and his best attempt at a magic trick was to sent a pack of playing-cards flying into the air. We’ll give him an A for effort.

So to recap: Hill is good at football, but not so great in other jobs. Check out his full interview where we’ve embedded it below:

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt released his final Top 10 of the college football regular season late Saturday night, with the Bulldogs coming in at No. 5.

Though it’s just about guaranteed Georgia does not wind up in the Top 4 tomorrow, the Bulldogs were able to hang onto a Top 5 spot in Klatt’s rankings.

What does this mean? Well, Alabama is ranked No. 7 behind the Dawgs, which would have Georgia NOLA bound in this scenario.

Take a look.

Make sure to check back with us throughout the day Sunday, as we break down all things bowl related.

Ohio State vs. Michigan

When: Saturday, November 30

Time: 12:00 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

Since a 28-21 loss to Penn State on the road Oct. 19, Michigan’s offense has turned it up. The team is averaging 41.5 points and 422.8 total yards of offense over the past four games. This is the best quarterback Shea Patterson has played during his tenure at Michigan. Over the past two games, he is 41-for-58 for 750 yards, nine touchdowns, and one interception. In a 39-14 win over Indiana, his late interception was his first turnover in 17 quarters.

The Wolverines offense may be playing its best this season, but it hasn’t dealt with a juggernaut that is the Buckeyes defense. It ranks No. 1 in the nation in efficiency and scoring, allowing just 10.5 points per game. Michigan needs to be ready for defensive end Chase Young, who leads the NCAA with 16.5 sacks. He’s leading that category despite missing two games due to an NCAA violation.

Ohio State had a sloppy 28-17 win against Penn State last weekend, which was easily its least impressive victory of the season. However, Ohio State still locked up the Big Ten East and will play in the Big Ten Championship game. The Buckeyes were up 21-0 at the beginning of the third quarter, but three straight turnovers allowed the score to quickly flip to 21-17. While the focus has been on the play of quarterback Justin Fields the entire season, he had three turnovers in the game. Fields finished the game with 188 yards passing and two touchdowns. The most success the Buckeyes found last weekend was in the run game. J.K. Dobbins ran for 157 yards, while Fields ran for 68 yards. Dobbins has 1,446 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. His backup, Master Teague, has more rushing yards (751) than anyone on Michigan’s roster. Receivers Chris Olave, K.J. Hill, and Binjimen Victor have a combined 23 receiving touchdowns.

The Wolverines defense may not be as highly touted as the Buckeyes, but it still cannot be overlooked. Michigan’s defense has been playing well ever since an early season loss at Wisconsin. It’s currently the nation’s No. 5 defense, but the defensive tackles will have to limit the run and allow the linebackers to make plays.

Yes, the Masters is 134 days away. But if you’re hungry to watch some golf on Thanksgiving, you can tune into “2019 U.S. Open: Woodland Peaks at Pebble Beach” from Fox Sport Films in association with the USGA. It premieres Thursday, Nov. 28, at 4 p.m. ET immediately following the Bears-Lions game on Fox.

Narrated by actor Andy Garcia, the film follows Woodland’s run to his first major championship with exclusive footage of Woodland, his wife Gabby and their children.

It’s been a monumental year for Gary and Gabby, who welcomed twin girls into the world this summer. And the year isn’t over yet for Woodland, who will make his Presidents Cup debut in a couple weeks in Melbourne. He was one of Tiger Woods’ captain’s picks after finishing fifth at the Zozo Championship in Japan.

The Woodland film also features interviews with Justin Rose, the 2013 U.S. Open champion who entered the final round just one shot off Woodland’s lead, along with interviews from Curtis Strange, Shane Bacon, Brad Faxon and John Feinstein.

After its Thanksgiving debut, the film will re-air on FS1 eight times throughout December.

Stanford A Decade Long House of Horrors for Notre Dame

There haven’t been many more painful losses in Brian Kelly’s now ten-year run than what happened to conclude the 2015 regular season.

Forget that.

There haven’t been many more painful losses for Notre Dame in the almost 30 years I’ve been watching as the regular season finale in 2015 was.

The Notre Dame versus Stanford rivalry for The Legends Trophy has had some iconic moments for Notre Dame.

The Goal Line Stand in 2012:

Ben Koyack in 2014:

Dexter Williams 2018 Debut:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZLXify02xY&w=560&h=315]

Unfortunately for Notre Dame these moments have been few and far between in odd-numbered years, when the Irish finish their regular season on the west-coast.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series against Stanford 19-13 (2012 being vacated) but hasn’t won at Stanford since the forgettable 2007 campaign that came to forgiving end with a rather forgettable 21-14 win at Stanford.

We’ve got all week still to get set for a regular season conclusion at Stanford, who has been incredibly disappointing this season, but let’s take a quick moment to look back on the five-straight Notre Dame has lost at Stanford, a trend they hope to finally end in the Brian Kelly era this Saturday.

First up:  2009 – Charlie’s Last Stand

Notre Dame/Stanford Kickoff Time Announced

Notre Dame vs Stanford kickoff time announced

The 2019 regular season finale for Notre Dame will take place Saturday afternoon at Stanford.

The game will be played on FOX and kickoff at 4 pm E.T.

Stanford has been a big disappointment this year as they’re just 4-7 after losing last night against rival Cal.

If the dominos fall correctly Notre Dame could be playing in the Cotton Bowl for a second year in a row, assuming a win over Stanford on Saturday.

The Irish will be looking for their first win at Stanford since 2007 while Brian Kelly is seeking his first victory in Northern California.
