Twitter reacts to Arch Manning’s college football debut

Peyton Manning’s nephew, Arch, made his college football debut on Black Friday. Here’s how social media reacted.

The Texas Longhorns dominated Texas Tech in a 57-7 blowout victory on Black Friday, providing an opportunity for true freshman quarterback Arch Manning to make his college football debut.

Arch, the son of Cooper Manning and nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli, had a modest (yet intriguing) performance. Manning went 2-of-5 passing for 30 yards. He also made a few plays with his feet.

Arch’s father, Cooper, was a star wide receiver in high school, but his football career was cut short before college by spinal stenosis. Following the retirements of Peyton and Eli, Cooper has been included in several commercials with his brothers.

Peyton, Eli and Cooper, of course, are the sons of Archie and Olivia Manning. Archie had a 14-year career as a quarterback in the NFL, spending time with the New Orleans Saints, Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings. A two-time Pro Bowler, Arche is a member of the Saints’ Hall of Fame.

Arch is now the latest Manning to play quarterback. Check out how Twitter/X reacted to his Texas debut below.

Cooper Manning and Jason Kelce totally vibed over their respective sibling rivalries

The Mannings and Kelces have a LOT in common.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce found a kindred spirit during the opening night of Super Bowl 57’s media availability.

Cooper Manning, the brother of NFL legendary quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, talked with Jason Kelce about what it’s like to have a brother also playing in the pros.

As you all know, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the opposing sideline when Jason Kelce and the Eagles take the field on Sunday.

The Kelces are going to be fierce rivals this week, and Cooper Manning has had a fierce rivalry with his two Hall of Fame brothers his entire life. A Manning and a Kelce meeting during Super Bowl week just couldn’t be more perfect.

They also got to share a great laugh about the faux-hatred they have that drives the sibling rivalries.

Hey, while Cooper Manning didn’t make it to the pros, his son Arch Manning is about to embark on a college football career at Texas this fall.

One day, Cooper Manning might get bragging rights if Arch Manning follows in his uncles’ footsteps. Until then, Jason Kelce can help Cooper Manning get a good laugh about what it’s like to admire (and despise) your brother from afar.

Cooper Manning had a funny ‘third-favorite’ Brock Purdy promo on Fox

“Is this some type of metaphor about me? Nah, couldn’t be.” 😅

Fox found a perfect candidate to promote the San Francisco 49ers’ divisional-round playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend.

In the promo, Cooper Manning, the brother of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli, recounted the Niners’ two quarterback injuries that led them to their third-choice option, Brock Purdy.

“So here they are, on quarterback No. 3, three wins away from striking that familiar goal,” Cooper said in the promo. “Brock Purdy, maybe he started off as a third option — the third favorite — but maybe that third favorite was the perfect choice all along?”

Check out the video from the NFL on Fox:

It was clearly a clever way of alluding to Cooper being known as the “third” Manning brother due to the success of Peyton and Eli as QBs. At the end of the video, though, the good-natured Cooper denies the correlation.

“Is this some type of metaphor about me? Nah, couldn’t be.”

Cooper was a star wide receiver in high school but his football career was cut short before college by spinal stenosis. Cooper has been more involved in marketing with Peyton and Eli lately, and his son, Arch, is one of the top QB prospects in the country who has committed to play college football at the University of Texas beginning this fall.

It’s clear that Cooper, much like Peyton and Eli, has a good sense of humor.

Arch Manning’s dad says ‘cranking up’ Texas was part of the appeal

Manning had plenty of college offers to choose from, including Georgia and Alabama, which were his other finalists.

Arch Manning signed with Texas a week ago today, making his long-time commitment to the Longhorns official. The nephew of two Super Bowl champions, Arch is the biggest name and the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2023.

Manning had plenty of college offers to choose from, including reigning national champion Georgia and perennial powerhouse Alabama, which were his other finalists. His father Cooper told Trey Wingo at ESPN that his son chose Texas because the chance to crank up a program that hasn’t been as good as expected lately was part of the appeal. Watch:

The Longhorns were one of college football’s top teams in the aughts under Mack Brown, posting 10 wins or more for nine straight years (2001-2009). Their most-recent 10-win season was in 2018, though. 2023 will be their third year with Steve Sarkisian as head coach. The team improved from 5-7 his first season to 8-4 this year.

Manning will be tasked with taking that next step, but he won’t be alone. They’ve put together a strong recruiting class around him, which ranks No. 3 in the country.

Texas will be facing Washington tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. ET in the Alamo Bowl. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Cooper Manning steals the spotlight in latest Caesars commercial

Cooper Manning steals the spotlight in the latest Caesars commercial.

Peyton and Eli Manning are well-known Super Bowl champions who are now also beloved commentators on ESPN’s ManningCast for select Monday Night Football games.

Their brother, Cooper, is not as well known because he did not make it to the NFL, but that wasn’t because he didn’t have the talent. In fact, it’s been said that Cooper was the most athletic of the Manning brothers. Unfortunately, Cooper’s football career was cut short by spinal stenosis before college.

He’s gotten more into the spotlight following the retirements of Peyton and Eli, however, as the Mannings have started doing more commercials as a family post-football.

Peyton, Cooper and Eli have joined their dad, Archie, in multiple Caesars Sportsbook commercials over the last two seasons and Cooper stole the spotlight in the sportsbook’s latest ad.

Cooper’s son, Arch, is a senior quarterback at Isidore Newman in Louisianna. Arch has broken high school passing records previously held by Peyton and Eli, and he has committed to play college football for the University of Texas.

So while Cooper’s own football career was cut short, his son will have the first opportunity among Archie’s grandchildren to make it to the NFL.

Peyton Manning stars in another Caesars commercial

Peyton Manning guesses “Omaha” and then scolds Eli for guessing “helmet catch” multiple times 😅

Peyton Manning might be retired from football, but he’s certainly not retired in general.

Manning’s various jobs include running his Omaha Productions company (which has produced multiple ESPN+ shows and TV game shows), and he’s also still acting in commercials, including three Super Bowl ads earlier this year.

Manning’s biggest commercial campaign last football season was with Caesars Sportsbook. Manning and his father, Archie, and his two brothers, Cooper and Eli, appeared in several ads for the betting app last year.

The Manning family will be back on TV again this season with new shorts for the sportsbook. The first commercial will debut when the Atlanta Falcons take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in Week 2 of preseason.

The latest ad shows the Mannings playing charades with “Caesar” (JB Smoove). Peyton guesses “Omaha” and then later scolds Eli for guessing “helmet catch” multiple times. Cooper then guesses correctly with a ridiculously long and specific answer that leaves his brothers dumbfounded.

Check it out:

It seems safe to assume more Caesars commercials are on the way from the Mannings this season.

Cooper Manning’s advice to Arch on his college decision

Cooper Manning understood the importance of his son’s decision.

The Manning family exercised caution with Arch Manning’s recruitment. Until the family felt he was ready, Arch was in many ways off limits on the recruiting trail.

Arch was encouraged to make sure Texas was the right choice before picking the Longhorns. According to Jeff Duncan, a columnist for The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, Cooper Manning told his son to sleep on his potential commitment to Texas before announcing. Duncan noted that the next morning Arch confidently committed.

The Manning family isn’t new to carefully choosing a team. Eli Manning asked the San Diego Chargers not to draft him prior to the 2004 NFL draft. At the time, Eli was not confident in the Chargers’ organization. He went on to win two Super Bowls with the New York Giants.

Cooper Manning understood the importance of his son’s life-changing decision. In the end, Arch resolved to play for Steve Sarkisian and his childhood favorite team.

Who would make up a Notre Dame team on ‘College Bowl’?

Would you like to see these former athletes represent Notre Dame in a different type of contest?

Those of you of a certain age might remember “College Bowl”, a program that featured teams of college students testing their knowledge. Well, NBC is bringing it back in June with Peyton Manning as host and Cooper Manning as his assistant. Presently, Notre Dame is not listed among the schools that will participate. But wouldn’t that be cool if it did?

In fact, what if their was a “College Bowl” version in which the schools were represented by famous athletes that went there? Notre Dame certainly would have its pick of the litter with all of the big names associated with it. With only three spots available, that makes the selection process even tougher. However, we think we’ve picked a team that would be perfect to represent the Irish, one that was put together by virtue of name recognition, if not qualification to be quizzed on their knowledge of the world we live in.
