Ole Miss, Arkansas indicate Texas will be just fine in the SEC

The middle of the SEC isn’t all that impressive.

The SEC hasn’t been all that impressive in bowl season. On the strength of its first win in a triple overtime victory by Arkansas over Kansas, the conference is 1-3 so far.

Florida got bowl season started for the Longhorns’ new conference falling to Oregon State, 30-3. Wake Forest made short work of Missouri in a 27-17 win. You can see why the Tigers wouldn’t want anything to do with Kansas.

The Jayhawks performed admirably coming back to send what was a blowout to overtime. One CBS analyst appeared to use the Razorbacks’ early lead to confirm just how strong the middle of the SEC is on the football field. Kansas then came storming back.

Texas Tech capped the night with a resounding win over Ole Miss, 42-25. The game may not have been as close as the score indicates.

The Kansas Jayhawks team that took Arkansas to triple overtime fell to Texas at home, 55-14. If early bowl results are any indication, the Longhorns will be fine in the SEC.

South Carolina’s top recruit sets commitment date

4-star OT Monroe Freeling has set his commitment date. Freeling is considering Clemson, Miami, Georgia, Florida, and more.

The Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to add a commitment from the highest-ranked recruit in South Carolina. Monroe Freeling is a tall, lengthy four-star offensive tackle from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, which is just outside of Charleston.

Freeling plans to announce where he will play college football on Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The four-star offensive line prospect will decide among Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Miami.

Monroe Freeling plays high school football for Oceanside Collegiate Academy. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound offensive tackle recruit is a member of the class of 2023. Freeling is currently projected to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs per 247Sports.

The Oceanside star is the No. 13 offensive tackle prospect in the class of 2023 and is rated as the No. 80 recruit. Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs currently have commitments from several players along the offensive line including in-state offensive tackle Bo Hughley.

Monroe Freeling will continue adding to his frame before he plays college football in 2023. The talented offensive tackle has recently visited Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Miami.

The touted offensive tackle also plays basketball. He shows great athleticism, mobility and footwork for someone of his size. Check out a few of his dunks and a ferocious block from one game during the 2021-2022 high school basketball season:

South Carolina’s top recruit committing to the Georgia Bulldogs would be fitting. The Clemson Tigers have added commitments from some of the top players in Georgia, so it is only fair that the Bulldogs return the favor.

The Georgia Bulldogs have added a commitment from defensive tackle recruit Shone Washington. Washington is ranked as a three-star defensive lineman and is a member of the class of 2022.

Washington has received interest from USC, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, and more. Washington originally committed to the in-state LSU Tigers, but later backed off his decision.

Shone Washington announced his commitment to Georgia over Florida via Twitter:

The three-star defensive tackle prospect will be planning to enroll at UGA early and will sign with the Dawgs on Dec. 15. Washington is Kirby Smart and Georgia’s 24th commitment in the class of 2022. UGA has the No. 1-rated class of 2022 in the country.

Georgia has commitments from four defensive linemen in the class of 2022, so they are likely set at the position unless there is a decommitment.

Sedrick Van Pran, a former four-star center and UGA sophomore from the class of 2020, went to Warren Easton High School, which is the same high school as Shone Washington in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Washington sat out the 2019 high school season due to transfer rules. Washington has impressive size at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds.

Twitter reacts: Georgia flips two 4-star Florida commits

Twitter reacts: Georgia football flips two 4-star Florida commits and still may not be done.

Georgia football’s gain is Florida’s loss. Right now, the Georgia Bulldogs are dominating their biggest rival, Florida, in recruiting and on the field. UGA fans are loving every moment of it.

Four-star defensive back recruit Julian Humphrey committed to the Georgia Bulldogs football program after previously being committed to the Florida Gators.

Julian ‘Julio’ Humphrey, a class of 2022 cornerback, committed to UGA over LSU and Texas A&M. Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 cornerback, backed off his commitment to Florida in October.

Georgia Bulldogs also flipped class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell from Dan Mullen and Florida a few days ago. Cottrell, a four-star wide receiver was one of Florida’s top commits in the class of 2023.

The Dawgs have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country behind Alabama. Dan Mullen and Florida have the No. 22 class of 2022.

Humphrey plays for Clear Lake High School in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas, was one of Florida’s top 2022 recruiting targets.

Dan Mullen and Florida also recently lost a commitment from four-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 player in the nation. There’s a good chance James flips to UGA, too.

Here’s how Twitter reacted as Georgia football took another talented recruit from Florida’s grasp:

UGA football flips another 4-star: DB Julian Humphrey

Kirby Smart and UGA have flipped former Florida commitment Julian Humphrey, a 4-star class of 2022 DB.

Four-star defensive back recruit Julian Humphrey has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs football program after previously being committed to the Florida Gators.

Julian ‘Julio’ Humphrey, a four-star class of 2022 cornerback, committed to UGA over LSU and Texas A&M.

Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 cornerback, backed off his commitment to Florida in October. He was favored to commit to UGA.

It is yet another win for Georgia over the Gators for Kirby Smart. Georgia dominated Florida 34-7 on Oct. 30, and Florida lost an ugly 40-17 game to South Carolina last week.

Georgia Bulldogs also flipped class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell from Dan Mullen and Florida earlier this week.

The Dawgs have the No. 2 recruiting class in the country behind Alabama. Dan Mullen and Florida have the No. 22 class of 2022.

Humphrey plays for Clear Lake High School in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas, brought a bulldog to the ceremony when he announced his commitment to UGA.

Humphrey visited Georgia on Oct. 1, the weekend UGA hosted Arkansas. The four-star defensive back also recently visited Texas A&M.

Humphrey is another example of Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher battling on the recruiting trail in the class of 2022.

Dan Mullen and UF also recently lost a commitment from four-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 player in the nation. James is considering Georgia and Alabama. Things seem to be unraveling right now for the Florida Gators.

4-Star cornerback Julian Humphrey is ready to commit

Kirby Smart and UGA are looking to flip former Florida commitment Julian Humphrey, who is near a decision.

Four-star defensive back recruit Julian Humphrey is ready to make his commitment. Humphrey announced his decision will come sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14 via Twitter.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for former Florida Gators commit Julian ‘Julio’ Humphrey. The four-star class of 2022 cornerback puts UGA, LSU and Texas A&M in his top schools.

Where will Humphrey go? It would be surprising to see him sign early with LSU considering the situation surrounding the program (coach Ed Orgeron is leaving after the season). LSU has an excellent reputation with their ability to develop and recruit defensive backs, so they should not be counted out.

Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 cornerback, backed off his commitment to Florida in October. He is favored to commit to UGA.

If Humphrey commits to Georgia, then it would be yet another win over the Gators for Kirby Smart. Georgia dominated Florida 34-7 on Oct. 30. Florida just lost again to South Carolina in a game that was not close.

The Dawgs have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Dan Mullen and Florida have the No. 22 class of 2022.

Humphrey plays for Clear Lake High School in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas, recently announced his top three schools via Twitter.

Humphrey visited Georgia on Oct. 1, the weekend UGA hosted Arkansas. The four-star defensive back visited Texas A&M recently, too. The Aggies appear to be Kirby Smart’s main competition in landing a commitment from Humphrey.

Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher have been battling along the recruiting trail a lot in the class of 2022.

Dan Mullen and UF also recently lost a commitment from four-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 player in the nation. Things seem to be unraveling right now for the Gators.

4-star LB Shemar James decommits from Florida

Four-star linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators after a visit to UGA.

Four-star class of 2022 linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators. James originally picked the Gators on June 20, but has backed off his initial decision.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide were among the top contenders for James, who visited Georgia for the Kentucky game. The four-star outside linebacker prospect plays football for Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is ranked the No. 10 linebacker in the country and the No. 70 overall recruit. James is the No. 4 player in Alabama.

It is always hard to win a recruiting battle for top in-state players against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

James plays wide receiver and outside linebacker. His team looks to get him the ball in space anyway it can. He sometimes lines up in the backfield. It is rare to see a wide receiver who plays defensive end/outside linebacker, but James has the size to star in both positions at the high school level.

James projects to be a pass rushing outside linebacker in college. He has excellent speed and could be a big-time difference maker in the SEC.

The four-star linebacker announced his decommitment via his Twitter account:

James was Florida’s top commitment in the class of 2022. The Gators have the 18th-ranked recruiting class in the country.

Will James be the latest player UGA has flipped? Or will the four-star linebacker commit to the Crimson Tide. Florida will still pursue James as well.

Now, Shemar James has committed to Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators football program. James will be an excellent addition for Florida.

Shemar James is a member of the class of 2022. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is ranked as the No. 15 linebacker in the country and the No. 146 overall recruit. James is the No. 7 rated player in the state of Alabama.

Florida is looking to recruit Alabama heavily. The Gators landed a commitment from the No. 3 prospect in the state, Jeremiah Williams, in the class of 2021.

Shemar James plays both wide receiver and outside linebacker. His team tries to get him the ball in space anyway they can and he sometimes lines up in the backfield. It is rare to see a wide receiver who plays defensive end/outside linebacker, but James has the size to do it successfully at the high school level.

Shemar James projects to be a pass rushing outside linebacker at the college level. He has excellent speed and could be a big-time difference maker in the SEC.

The four-star linebacker committed to Florida over  LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama, FSU, Michigan, and Auburn. Shemar James announced his decision on June 20 via his Twitter account:
