Vanderbilt at Florida odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (2-3, 0-1 SEC) head south to take on the No. 18 Florida Gators (3-2, 1-2) Saturday. Kickoff from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville is set for noon ET. Below, we look at the Vanderbilt vs. Florida odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Gators suffered their second loss in three weeks with a 20-13 road loss at the Kentucky Wildcats last week. They had played well in a 31-29 loss against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 3 in their previous defeat. Florida has been dominant offensively with 29 or more points scored in four of its five games.

The Commodores’ traditionally weak program has taken down UConn and Colorado State for their two victories, but they suffered a 62-0 loss to the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Week 4 in their only other game against a ranked opponent.

Vanderbilt at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 45, Vanderbilt 14

Money line

PASS on the money line.

This one should be obvious, but upsets do happen, and betting 1000x your money for one unit of return is too risky to ever be worth it. Look toward the spread and total for better values.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to VANDERBILT +38.5 (-105).

The Gators have yet to outscore a team by even 25 points, despite games against Florida Atlanta, South Florida and Tennessee – all games where they came in as heavy favorites. The Gators have yet to top 42 points this season.

Vandy has been surprisingly mediocre this season with two wins after losing all its games last year.

Handing Colorado State a loss was impressive for this program. While they were crushed by Georgia, the Bulldogs are a level above everyone not named Alabama.

They haven’t lost by more than 20 outside the Georgia game. The Commodores won’t be able to hang with the Gators, but I do like them to lose by fewer than 39.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 60.5 (-112) as the best value. Both teams have gone Over this total just twice this season. While I expect Vandy to cover, it likely won’t get more than 20 points.

The Gators gave up 31 to Alabama but haven’t given up more than 20 to any other opponent. Florida will have to do the heavy lifting for this total to go Over, and given that it’s scored under 40 points in three straight matches, it will likely take the pedal off the gas late.

Florida at Kentucky odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida at Kentucky odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 23 Kentucky Wildcats (4-0, 2-0 SEC) host the No. 9 Florida Gators (3-1, 1-1) Saturday at 6 p.m. ET at Kroger Field. Below, we look at the Florida vs. Kentucky odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Kentucky has played one of the softest schedules in the country, and while it enters this matchup undefeated, it won each of its last three games by 7 or fewer points. This team’s calling card has been its defensive play, particularly against the run, as the Wildcats are allowing just 87.8 rushing yards per game (21st nationally).

Florida has had a tougher path to this one; its only blemish is a 31-29 loss to No. 1 Alabama in a game that could have gone either way. The Gators showed no signs of a hangover after that loss as they pummeled the Tennessee Volunteers 38-14 at home last week.

Florida has a lethal rushing attack that is the best in the nation at 7.5 yards per carry. QB Emory Jones has looked better in every game, most recently going 21-for-27 with 2 TD and 0 INT last week.

Florida at Kentucky odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 35, Kentucky 24

Money line

Florida has won this matchup 33 out of the last 34 times; the lone Wildcat win since 1987 was in 2018. Kentucky hasn’t shown enough to warrant even a small-unit dart, so PASS on the money line and target the spread.

Against the spread

Although Kentucky is 3-1 ATS it hasn’t shown the ability to pull away from some pretty soft competition. Florida is hitting its stride with comfortable conference covers in each of their last two games against Alabama and Tennessee.

Take FLORIDA -7.5 (-110) here; don’t worry that they’re on the road.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

These two teams are a combined 5-3 on the Over so far through their eight combined games. Florida is hitting its stride offensively and Kentucky should score just enough to push this OVER 55.5 (-103).

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tennessee Volunteers (2-1) visit the Florida Gators (2-1) for an SEC East showdown at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we look at the Tennessee vs. Florida odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Tennessee bounced back from a Week 2 loss to Pittsburgh with a 56-0 rout of FCS foe Tennessee Tech last week. The setback against the Panthers stands out, as the Vols were minus-3 in the turnover column in that contest and they were undone by 134 yards in penalties.

Florida is No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, and is getting a lot of attention for its game against Alabama last week. The Gators outgained the Crimson Tide, 439 yards to 324, and all five of UF’s scoring drives were 75 yards-plus.

The Gators are 15-2 straight up in the head-to-head series since 2004.

Tennessee at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 38, Tennessee 24

Money line

PASS on the juice-drowned prices here.

Against the spread

The Gators are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games as favorites. Florida had some solid defensive days in wins over FAU and USF but those teams have second-division offenses.

Figure Florida as being banged up and by the end of this game, all too willing to play out a two-score victory. Peg Tennessee as being balanced enough and improved enough to live up to that same score range.

BACK THE VOLUNTEERS +19.5 (-108). It’s a bit of a play on a powerful force in nature and sports betting: gravity.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

The Under is 3-1 across the last four meetings in this series dating back to 2017.

Tennessee has logged some solid defensive havoc numbers so far. With enough of a nod to UT and respect for the balance and patience that could well unfold here, BACK THE UNDER 63.5 (-108).

Analyzing Saturday’s Alabama at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Crimson Tide, No. 1 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, won their first two games with relative ease. They worked over Miami 44-13 in a neutral-site game in Atlanta, before pushing past FCS Mercer by a 48-14 count.

The No. 9 Gators trail 26-14 in the all-time series and dropped each of the last seven head-to-head meetings. Each of the last three contests were in the SEC Championship Game, including a 52-46 loss last season.

Alabama at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 41, Florida 24

Money line

Alabama (-600) will cost you six times your potential return, and that’s just too risky in a battle between Top 10 teams, especially taking the favorite on the road.

AVOID, and focus on the spread.

Against the spread

ALABAMA -14.5 (-108) heads into Saturday favored by more than two touchdowns. At the beginning of the season, this might have seemed like a crazy line; however, after completely burying Miami, and having an offense that looks like a well-oiled machine, it isn’t so crazy.

QB Bryce Young has looked tremendous so far. Florida also has a new quarterback. Actually, it has two; QB Emory Jones has been starting, but QB Anthony Richardson has shown tremendous athleticism and versatility. Both are dual-threat options, but facing a ‘Bama defense is much different than lighting up subpar FAU and South Florida defenses.

We’ll get a good idea where this Florida team is, and it’ll likely to go down by more than two touchdowns against a superior team.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 59.5 (-112) is the play. Remember, last season these teams met in an epic 52-46 battle, easily hitting the Over. Yes, QBs Mac Jones and Kyle Trask were under center for these teams, but the replacements have looked effective.

The Over is 7-3-1 in Alabama’s last 11 games against teams with a wining record, while the Over is 5-0 in Florida’s last five contests against winning teams. Look for plenty of fireworks.

FAU at Florida odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s FAU Owls at Florida Gators odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The FAU Owls and Florida Gators meet Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the FAU vs. Florida odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Florida enters the season at No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

FAU won five of eight games last season before falling in its bowl game to Memphis. The Owls trail the all-time series against the Gators 3-0, but lost just 20-14 in overtime in the most recent meeting in 2015.

Florida is aiming for bigger things than just a win in the opener. Head coach Dan Mullen must replace QB Kyle Trask, TE Kyle Pitts and WR Kadarius Toney, but QB Emory Jones could make the transition relatively seamless.

FAU at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 34, FAU 20

Money line

Risking 18 times your potential return on Florida (-1800) is not a good long-term betting strategy.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

FAU +23.5 (-112) is the play, although I fully expect Florida to win this game. The problem with the Gators isn’t on offense, even though they’re replacing three big cogs. The issue with Florida is it allowed 30.8 points per game and 6.1 yards per play, and that defense needs to be shored up.

Florida added a number of recruits and transfers through the portal, but we need to see them jell together before they can be trusted.

FAU has former Miami QB N’Kosi Perry starting under center, so he should give the unit a much-needed improvement. The Owls defense ranked second in Conference USA with 17.4 PPG allowed, so they could slow down the Gators and their new skill position guys.

Over/Under

OVER 52.5 (-107) is a bit on the low side, but I’d only go with a small-unit wager here. Again, the Gators defense was putrid by their standards in 2020, and the Owls should be able to find the end zone at least a couple of times.

Florida at West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. Florida has won three straight and four out of its past five (3-2 ATS), which includes a 26-point whooping on then-No. 11 Tennessee at home as 9-point underdogs. The Gators are propelled by their offense ranked 76th in offensive rating and 50th in true shooting percentage.
  2. The Mountaineers won and covered against conference rivals Kansas State Saturday and No. 10 Texas Tech Monday in their return to action following a two-week layoff due to COVID-19 issues. Before the hiatus, West Virginia lost a 72-70 nail-biter at home to vs. then-No. 4 Texas Jan. 9.
  3. This is a rare West Virginia-Florida as these two have only met twice since 2016 with the Gators and covering both games.

Florida at West Virginia: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Florida 77, West Virginia 72

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Florida (+185) because I’m going to take the Gators to cover and often I’ll sprinkle on an underdog’s money line if I’m taking them plus points.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is a good matchup for Florida’s offense because the Gators take a lot of shots inside the arc, and that’s where West Virginia’s defense struggles.

Florida is 31st in 2-point attempt rate and makes 66% of its shots at the rim, according to HoopsMath.com. While the Mountaineers’ opponents are shooting 50.8% on 2-pointers (ranked 228th) and, according to HoopsMath.com, connecting on 59.1% of shots at the rim (ranked 284th).

Finally, if you check out the market handle you’ll notice that more of the money is on Florida but more of the bets placed are on West Virginia, according to Pregame.com. Typically, you’d like to follow the money column because that’s considered the sharp side of the market.

TAKE FLORIDA +5.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

I’m going to lean OVER 147.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit because both teams’ offenses are rated higher than its defenses. Also, there are some pro-Over trends to consider such as Florida’s last six road games going Over and West Virginia cashing an Over in four of its last five.
