LSU hosts 4-star, top 30 safety Faheem Delane for a visit

The Tigers will hope they made some headway with one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 class this weekend.

LSU continues to try to build on what could be an elite 2025 recruiting class, and it hopes it made some headway this weekend with one of the top defensive backs in the class.

Four-star Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) safety [autotag]Faheem Delane[/autotag] checked in for a visit in Baton Rouge on Sunday, posing with head coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag].

Delane ranks as the No. 29 player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite, and he ranks as the No. 2 safety and the top prospect in the state of Maryland.

The Tigers also hosted Delane for a game visit in October, and he included them in his top five alongside Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Ohio State seems to be the top contender here. Delane currently holds multiple Crystal Ball projections in favor of the Buckeyes, and they are a 95.4% favorite to land him per On3.

Ohio State football crystal balled to land 2025 top ranked safety

Recruiting is on fire right now in the secondary. #GoBucks

Sunday was a good day for Ohio State football recruiting as the Buckeyes landed a commitment from five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord.

Offord is a top 10 ranked player in the 2025 class by all four major college football recruiting outlets. Between him, Devin Sanchez, and Blake Woody, the Buckeyes now hold commitments from the first, second, and tenth ranked corners in the 2025 class by 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

It appears that Ohio State’s defensive back class may be getting even stronger as on Monday because 247Sports expert Steve Wiltfong logged a crystal ball prediction for the 2025’s top ranked safety Faheem Delane to land with the Buckeyes.

Dalene who attends Our Lady Good Counsel High School in Maryland would be a massive addition for the Buckeyes as they are currently on track to bring in a very talented class in 2025.

Georgia football offers 5-star DB Faheem Delane

UGA football offers a scholarship to the No. 1 safety recruit in the class of 2025

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to elite defensive back recruit Faheem Delane. Delane is ranked as the No. 1 safety prospect in the class of 2025.

Faheem Delane plays high school football for Our Lady Good Counsel High School in Onley, Maryland. Onley, Maryland is located between Washington D.C. and Baltimore.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety recruit is the No. 24 player in the class of 2025 and the No. 1 recruit in Maryland, per 247Sports. Faheem Delane’s brother, Mansoor Delane, plays college football for Virginia Tech.

New Georgia Bulldogs defensive backs coach Donte Williams extended the scholarship offer to Faheem Delane. The five-star safety recruit announced his offer from Georgia football via social media:

Georgia has been one of the best recruiting programs in the country under head coach Kirby Smart. Smart will look to continue that trend in the 2025 cycle. Georgia currently has the nation’s No. 6 recruiting class in the class of 2025. The Bulldogs have six commitments in the 2025 cycle.

Alabama lands in top 5 for 2025 5-star safety Faheem Delane

Five-star safety Faheem Delane released his top schools list. Alabama was one of the five programs that made the cut.

One of the nation’s top safety prospects for the 2025 recruiting class is Our Lady of Good Counsel’s Faheem Delane. Delane listed Alabama as one of five finalists to land his commitment.

Delane has taken two trips to Tuscaloosa since receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide in May of 2022.

The Maryland native is the younger brother of Virginia Tech defensive back Mansoor Delane.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports compared Delane to former five-star and current Georgia safety Joenel Aguero. His scouting report reads as follows:

“An aggressive back-seven defender that can cover the pass, defend the run, and get home on the blitz. Owns a college-ready frame having measured roughly 6-foot-2.5, 200 pounds summer before junior season. Quick to trigger and tends to play with tons of confidence. Has been utilized primarily as a box safety and a slot corner at the prep level and found plenty of success in both roles. Physical more times than not and always looking to deliver a blow. Serviceable in man-to-man situations and held his own at Under Armour’s Future annual event, producing a pair of takeaways. However, can lose track of wide receivers in the deeper third and lacks the foot speed to recover. Should be viewed as a potential impact player in the secondary for a Power Five program that can do a little bit of everything. Likely to find the most success in a defensive scheme that has him forward-facing and constantly puts him in position to make plays. Has what it takes to get on the field sooner rather than later like his brother, who starred as a freshman at Virginia Tech.”

It will be interesting to see which program Delane commits to. His decision will likely be made in the near future.

LSU cracks the top 5 for 2025 safety

One of the top safeties in the 2025 recruiting class recently released his top five list of schools after his junior year ended.

One of the top safeties in the 2025 recruiting class recently released his top five list of schools after his junior year ended.

[autotag]Faheem Delane[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound, four-star safety from Olney, Maryland, who plays high school football for Our Lady of Good Counsel. The Falcons won the 2023 Capital championship with a 7-0 win over DeMatha in the finals. Since then, Delane has narrowed down his list of finalists for his recruitment and the LSU Tigers have made the cut.

LSU joins Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech as the final five schools in the running for the talented defensive back. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] could use all the help he can get in the secondary as the Tigers are losing players left and right. [autotag]Sage Ryan[/autotag] just entered his name into the transfer portal. It looks as if LSU will have to go back into the transfer portal for an all-new secondary once again.

Ohio State football makes top-ranked 2025 safety recruit Faheem Delane’s top five schools.

Penn State favored to land Top 50 prospect in 2025 class

Penn State the current favorite to land commitment from top player from Maryland in 2025

It might seem early, but it’s never too early to recruit players in younger classes. While 2024 is getting the most attention, it’s important to be in contact right now and lay the foundation for the class of 2025.

[autotag]Faheem Delane[/autotag] is a 2025 safety from Maryland who cut his list of top schools to 11. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect is rated No. 1 in Maryland and No. 46 in the nation in On3’s database.

The recruitment process of a 2025 player will likely be a long one, but it’s always good making the list of an elite prospect.

Other schools who made Delane’s list are Alabama, South Carolina, Oregon, USC, Florida State, Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Florida and LSU. The cut comes after he amassed more than 20 scholarship offers.

Given he is from the state of Maryland, the Terrapins have been involved in his recruitment the longest. He told Chad Simmons of On3 that the Maryland fans have been recruiting him since the seventh grade.

Although Maryland may have had the early start to his recruitment, On3’s recruiting prediction machine doesn’t think it is the leaders to land Delane.

The machine actually has Penn State in the lead to land the four-star recruit, giving the Nittany Lions a 41.5% chance to get the coveted safety. Virginia Tech sits in second with 18.6% and Ohio State third with 15.9%.

He spoke with Chad Simmons about what he likes about the program.

“Penn State has been recruiting me about as long Maryland. Since I was a freshman, they have been showing me a lot of interest. I like the defense [autotag]Manny Diaz[/autotag] runs, coach Poindexter is a great guy and [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] is very genuine. Penn State has good people that I have strong connections with and I love their fans, too.”

We’ll see how these predictions progress as Delane goes into his junior year of high school, but it looks good for Penn State right now.

Florida football makes top-11 for this coveted 2025 safety recruit

The Gators are in the mix for this four-star safety in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

The focus for Florida football’s recent recruiting efforts has been primarily on the class of 2024 but [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. are also keeping a keen eye out for the future as well. These efforts were made evident on Friday when a blue-chip defensive back in the 2025 recruiting cycle released his top 11 schools which included the Gators.

Four-star safety [autotag]Faheem Delane[/autotag] out of Olney (Maryland) Good Counsel divulged his list to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, in which he named the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Florida State Seminoles, Virginia Tech Hokies, Oregon Ducks, Maryland Terrapins, LSU Tigers, USC Trojans and South Carolina Gamecocks along with the Gators as his preferred programs.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 195-pound high school sophomore’s quote regarding his connection with the University of Florida’s football program: “CJ Gardner Johnson is my favorite NFL player and he went to Florida.”

Delane is currently unranked and unrated according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him ranked No. 46 overall and No. 4 at his position nationally. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Nittany Lions in the lead for his services with a 41.7% chance of landing him, while the Hokies, Buckeyes and Terrapins follow at 18.7%, 16% and 7%, respectively.
