Penn State gets second transfer commitment from Enai White

Penn State adds transfer commitment from former four-star SEC recruit

While all eyes were on Penn State getting ready for their first round College Football Playoff matchup against SMU on Saturday, they were able to improve their team for next season.

Having already earned a commitment from USC transfer wide receiver Kyron Hudson, the Nittany Lions were able to strike again.

Per Hayes Fawcett of On3, former Texas A&M edge rusher [autotag]Enai White[/autotag] is now the second player in the portal to commit to Penn State following his visit to Happy Valley.

Rated as a four-star recruit in the 2022 class, 247Sports ranked him as the No. 38 overall player in the cycle and fourth-best edge rusher in the country.

White was someone who was on Penn State’s radar when he was a prep player. From Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia, they were in the running to land the talented defensive end until he ultimately committed to Texas A&M. But now that he was looking for a new opportunity elsewhere, he decided to come back to his home state after seeing what the Nittany Lions had to offer once again.

Defensive line coach Deion Barnes was a huge factor in this decision.

“I knew coach Deion before he got the job at Penn State. He used to train me. He grew up not too far from where I grew up. The way they play their defensive ends (stood out). They play vertical, up the field. That kind of fits the way I play the game. The belief that coach Deion had in me, I am in the transfer portal, I am coming off an injury, but he still believes in what I can do, so that plays a big role in what I have going on right now,” he said per Brian Dohn of 247Sports.

Penn State will have a need at pass rusher next season.

With [autotag]Abdul Carter[/autotag] proving he’s one of the premier players in the sport, he’s going to have NFL teams fighting over him when he eventually declares for the draft.

The Nittany Lions have had success out of the transfer portal at this position recently, as [autotag]Chop Robinson[/autotag] turned into a first-round pick in the 2024 draft after coming in from Maryland.

White has the pedigree, but his lackluster career so far that consists of 11 total tackles with three coming for a loss and two sacks certainly doesn’t make this a sure thing.

The relationship and familiarity with Barnes should help, and Penn State doesn’t just take players out of the portal just to take him.

If White can live up to his potential in Happy Valley, he could be the next great pass rusher who has suited up for the program.

Former Texas A&M 4-star EDGE will transfer to the Big Ten

Enai White is headed to Penn State for the 2025 season

Former Texas A&M EDGE Enai White is headed back to his home state of Pennsylvania, as the junior pass rusher will transfer to Penn State for the 2025 season after failing to find a consistent role along the Aggie defensive line.

A four-star recruit in A&M’s historic 2022 recruiting class, White’s undeniable talent never came to fruition, mainly due to the Aggies’ deep defensive line rotation during his entire career in College Station. Once he entered the portal, it wasn’t surprising that many blue blood programs, including Penn State, were interested.

Standing at 6-5 and nearly 250 pounds, the metrics are there, but after recording 11 tackles and two sacks in three seasons, the Nittany Lions are getting a project player with high upside, but that can be said for a lot of transfer portal players who haven’t lived up to their recruiting expectations.

Enai White has three years of eligibility remaining, and I can safely say that every Aggie fan wishes him luck at his new destination.

Texas A&M junior defensive lineman will enter the transfer portal

Junior defensive end Enai White plans to enter the transfer portal after two seasons at Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended at a disappointing 8-4 and 5-3 in SEC play after losing three out of their last four games, including the season finale 17-7 loss to rival Texas in the revival of the Lone Star Showdown.

After Early Signing Day on Wednesday, Elko and his staff are on fire recruiting-wise. They have landed three commitment flips, including former Missouri commits, led by five-star OL Lamont Rogers and four-star athlete/running back Jamarion Morrow.

However, the transfer portal activity has been busy for the Aggies, as several players entered their names, including wide receiver Cyrus Allen and two quarterbacks: Redshirt sophomore Conner Weigman and junior Jaylen Henderson.

Junior DL Enai White is joining the others in the transfer portal after a few seasons and has a spot player seeing action in 12 games.

The 6-6 250-pound defensive end could never grab a break into the starting lineup behind a stacked defensive line with a lot of depth, while also dealing with several injuries.

White has three years of eligibility remaining. He finished his Texas A&M career with 11 tackles and two sacks.

Mike Elko provides several injury updates ahead of Texas A&M’s fall camp

One of Conner Weigman’s potential top receiving options is on the fast track to returning

We’re exactly a month away from Texas A&M’s season opener vs. Notre Dame, as Mike Elko’s team will start fall practice on Wednesday, which will continue next month before opening things up on Saturday, August 31.

On Tuesday, Elko, along with starting quarterback Conner Weigman, wide receiver Noah Thomas, and safety Bryce Anderson, took questions from the local media while providing a key injury update regarding two of A&M’s key contributors.

First, defensive lineman Enai White is reportedly still recovering from his previous knee injury and will not be available for the start of fall camp. The junior is looking to earn a rotational spot across the Aggies’ loaded D-line.

However, the most significant news was that former Troy wide receiver Jabre Barber, who nearly recorded 1,000 receiving during the 2023 season, injured his foot during the spring and had surgery immediately after. However, initially thought to miss the start of the regular season, Barber is now on track to return much sooner rather than later.

Barber’s versatility, soft hands, and crisp route running can solidify Texas A&M’s receiving depth and provide Weigman another reliable option in the passing game third down situations.

Final injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss

Here is the final injury report ahead of Texas A&M’s pivotal road battle vs. the 10th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday afternoon.

Texas A&M (5-3, 3-2 SEC) got back in the winner’s column after earning their first win in nearly a month, downing the visiting South Carolina Gamecocks 30-17 on Saturday afternoon.

Having arrived in Oxford (MS), Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher and his resilient team are set to face the 11th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels and the notorious head coach Lane Kiffin, looking for revenge after last season’s home loss, spoiling than freshman quarterback Conner Weigman’s memorable four touchdown debut.

Having not earned a true SEC road win since the 2021 season, Fisher is also 0-2 vs. Lane Kiffin since his arrival at Ole Miss, making this matchup one of the most important in his Aggie coaching career as his future at the helm remains shaky.

On Monday, Fisher spoke to the media to preview the matchup and provide any new injury updates after last week’s 30-17 win over South Carolina, headlined by the surprise absence of starting running back Le’Veon Moss.

After enduring a minor strain, Moss will return Saturday vs. Ole Miss, but freshman wide receiver Raymond Cottrell (foot) is out indefinitely. Sadly, rotational defensive end Enai White, seen walking around with crutches last weekend, will miss the remainder of the 2023 season due to a lower-body injury. Lastly, free safety Jardin Gilbert and right tackle Reuben Fatheree II have yet to rejoin the starting roster as they continue to rehab.

For the Rebels, wide receiver Qua Davis’s status may change later this week, but as of Monday, he will be out this weekend. On a final note, Conner Weigman’s rehab progression is going very well, as the sophomore standout was on the sidelines with a stability scooter and is slated to be 100% healthy ahead of the 2024 season.

Jimbo Fisher has provided a critical injury update regarding Aggies DE Enai White during Wednesday’s SEC Teleconference

During Wednesday’s annual SEC Teleconference, Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher provided an important update regarding DE Enai White’s status.

On Wednesday, Texas A&M Football head coach Jimbo Fisher appeared on the weekly SEC Teleconference call to preview the Aggies’ early Saturday matchup vs. Ole Miss in Oxford (MS), as Fisher is looking to win his first SEC road game since, yes, the 2021 season.

The Aggies are facing a familiar foe in Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin, who, by all accounts, has become somewhat of a villain in College Station after defeating A&M in Kyle Field 35-28, which included a brief moment of pure immaturity after Kiffin blatantly accused Aggie safety Bryce Anderson of faking an injury to stop the play clock.

When asked about Kiffin’s “fun” coaching style as an “offensive guru” of sorts ahead of the matchup, Fisher humorously answered as briefly as he could, stating,

“Yeah, he has always done a good job.”

Ahead of last Saturday’s win vs. South Carolina, Texas A&M rotational defensive end Enai White did not dress out and was seen walking with crutches on the sideline before kick-off, leading to Fisher’s confirmation that White will miss the rest of the regular season with an undisclosed lower-body injury.

Appearing in a total of five games this season, White totaled three tackles and one sack, and in a disappointing result, he is not eligible to redshirt this season due to eclipsing the four-game threshold. Still, he will likely be ready to return in 2024.

Texas A&M will now travel to Oxford (MS) to face the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, Nov. 5, where the game will again air on ESPN at 11:00 a.m. CT.

Arch Manning among top recruits visiting Georgia football

Quarterback Arch Manning, the No. 1 rated recruit in the class of 2023, is among the top prospects visiting the Georgia-South Carolina game.

Quarterback Arch Manning, the No. 1 rated recruit in the class of 2023 is among the top prospects visiting the University of Georgia. Manning and company are attending the Georgia versus South Carolina game.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football have the fourth-ranked class of 2022 in the country. The Dawgs are focusing on the class of 2022 now. Georgia needs a few more commitments in their class, which currently has 17 commitments.

Georgia has the second-ranked class of 2023 in the country.

Here are some of the top recruits visiting the Georgia-South Carolina game:

UGA football in top schools for Pennsylvania’s best recruit Enai White

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top four schools for four-star defensive end recruit Enai White. White is an elite player out of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the top rated player in Pennsylvania and the No. 36 rated player in the country.

Enai White is very close to being ranked a five-star recruit. He’s the No. 3- ranked defensive end in the class of 2022.

White plays football for Imhotep Institute Charter High School. He received a scholarship offer from Georgia back in Feb. 2020.

The four-star defensive end prospect considers his final four schools to be Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. He announced his top schools via his Twitter account:

The highly-rated defensive end prospect removed Clemson, Miami, Florida, and Oregon from his previous list of top schools.

White is a senior in high school. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound defensive end is still filling in his frame. He has good length and also plays basketball. He can dunk a basketball with ease.

The Imhotep Institute defender has received over 40 scholarship offers. On tape, White has an elite burst off the snap and flashes good closing speed. White does a good job of shedding his blocker in this recent clip:

Top 2022 defensive end Enai White puts Ohio State in top four

Ohio State is in the top four of one of the highest-rated defensive ends in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Ohio State has made another cut for one of the top-rated defensive ends in the country. The Buckeyes have made it to the final four in the race for Enai White, the No. 3 rated edge rusher in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

White trimmed his list leaving out Clemson, Florida, Miami (FL), and Oregon. Along with Ohio State, the other remaining schools in the running are AlabamaGeorgia, and Texas A&M.

White was recently in Columbus on June 25-27 for an official campus visit. Ohio State might be in the best position to land the four-star defensive end if in fact, he wants to stay on the defensive line. The Buckeyes are the only school that wants to keep White at defensive end. The other three schools run a scheme that would move him to a linebacking position.

Ryan Day and Ohio State are looking for their first commitment on the defensive line in the 2022 class. Adding Enai White would be a great first addition to an already impressive class.

Penn State adds Philly linebacker to Class of 2022

Penn State added a commitment to the Class of 2022 from Philadelphia over the July 4th weekend

[mm-video type=video id=01f906aedf2xcrh8bppv playlist_id=01ey902ehrs6e9bvhw player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01f906aedf2xcrh8bppv/01f906aedf2xcrh8bppv-a8deac3542401f5052ff619a38103267.jpg]

Philadelphia is the birthplace of our nation’s independence, so it is only fitting that Penn State set off a few recruiting fireworks with the commitment of a player from the City of Brotherly Love this weekend of July 4th.

Keon Wylie, a linebacker from Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia, committed to Penn State during a live announcement airing on CBS Sports HQ on Saturday, unveiling a Penn State polo shirt underneath his jacket as he did so with his family applauding the decision around him.

Wylie chose Penn State over offers from Pitt and Kentucky, the other two schools announce din his top three at the end of June. Wylie announced his top three not long after he made a visit to Penn State. The trip to Penn State came after a visit to Pitt and a week before a trip to Kentucky.

Wylie is rated as a three-star recruit according to the composite ranking from 247 Sports. The 6’2″, 210-pound linebacker says he was recruited to play a similar position and style as Micah Parsons, who went on to be the No. 12 overall draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL draft. 247 Sports’s composite ranking has Wylie as the nation’s No. 68 linebacker and the 17th-top recruit in the state of Pennsylvania.

Penn State is making good progress in the state of Pennsylvania so far in the Class of 2022. Penn State has commitments from the No. 4 (WR Mehki Flowers), No. 6 (WR Anthony Ivey), No. 7 (edge Ken Talley), and No. 12 (QB Beau Pribula) players in the state and the 247 Sports crystal ball predictions are leaning toward Penn State for the No. 2 (RB Nicholas Singleton) and No. 3 (CB Keenan Nelson Jr.) players.

It’s also worth noting Wylie is teammates with the state’s top-rated recruit, edge rusher Enai White. Penn State has trended pretty well in Philadelphia in this current recruiting cycle, but White didn’t even make a visit to Penn State in June (he did make a pair of unofficial visits in 2019), so it appears Penn State is not even in the running at this time.

Penn State’s Class of 2022 is currently ranked No. 7 on the 247 Sports composite team rankings as of now.
