Super Bowl halftime show review: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar had a show-stopping homecoming

That was one of my favorite Super Bowl halftime shows ever.

For a Super Bowl halftime performance in Los Angeles, it was only fitting for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar to dominate the stage.

This was a show designed for television, and it told an incredibly compelling story for those who were tuning in.

With this performance, Dr. Dre flexed his influence on not only the city of Los Angeles but also on music as a whole. He played an instrumental role in bringing many of these artists into our life, helping to not only discover their talent but to popularize them as well.

It was such a nice reminder that after all these years, Andre Young is Still D.R.E. and we never should have forgotten about Dre. It’s Dre’s world and we are just living in it.

Eminem brought his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant with him to Super Bowl 56

Eminem’s restaurant, Mom’s Spaghetti, is making the trip to LA with him

It’s been done so many times it’s a cliche at this point. The Super Bowl MVP, fresh off triumphantly capturing the top prize in his sport and scraping the face of greatness, gets a camera shoved in his face. A slightly cartoon-ish disembodied voice asks “PLAYER NAME, you just won the Super Bowl, what are you going to do now?”

And the player in question responds “I’m going to Eminem’s spaghetti restaurant!”

Alright, that probably *won’t* happen, but we can’t rule it out. Especially now that the revered rapper is bringing his lyric-inspired comfort food slop shop — both very real and, in a proper confluence of Detroit legends, located on the ground floor of Little Caesar’s global headquarters — with him to the west coast.

Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti will set up shop inside what used to be Los Angeles’s Uncle Paulie’s Deli on S. Spring Street for a five-day run of Italian-ish food and 8 Mile references. You can get your authentic, Michigan-style pasta from February 9 to 13, though getting there after the big game will be tough; it shuts down at 8pm on Super Bowl Sunday.

Mom’s Spaghetti has existed under Eminem’s gentle guidance in some form since 2017, taking on pop-up status before the proper brick and mortar location opened in 2021. The Takeout’s Leor Galil visited the restaurant in December and came away with a verdict of “ain’t bad.” It’ll have cheaper prices than the concession stands at Super Bowl 56, but not by all that much; it’ll run you $13 for a “s’ghetti sandwich” and $14 for noodles and meatballs.

Worse yet, they only sell Pepsi products,

I suppose that last part was inevitable since Pepsi is sponsoring the halftime spectacle that’ll bring Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar together for what promises to be, if nothing else, a million times better than watching the Maroon 5 guy get naked.

As of Thursday night, the get-in price to Super Bowl 56 was $3,300. If you’ve got $3k to burn and can’t bargain your way into SoFi Stadium, there’s still good news. That cash will still get you 230 s’ghetti sandwiches or, if you’re really thirsty, 1,000 Pepsi products you’ll immediately wish were Coke instead.

Before you watch the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday, remember: Brooks Koepka bleached his hair

What do prime-Eminem and Brooks Koepka have in common?

It was shocking to see for the first time.

Brooks Koepka, before teeing off in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, switched up his look.

If you haven’t seen it, picture Justin Timberlake in the 1990s. Think Eminem in the Slim Shady era. Or, and maybe worst of all, think Happy Gilmore’s caddy.

On Wednesday, Koepka changed his Twitter profile picture to a photo of himself with blonde hair when he was just a kid. Then, rumblings of the four-time major champion bleaching his hair started to circulate around Twitter.

Finally, it was time for Koepka to take off the hat and thank his playing partners for a great walk.

As you’d expect, social media went into a frenzy.

Koepka later posted a video to show off the transformation.

This is gonna take a while to get used to.

I’ll leave you with this.

Jay-Z is really unbeatable in ‘Verzuz’ but here are 9 rappers who might make it fun

No one is touching Hov but we would love to see these.

The internet has been in a fracas over the last few days because of one Jay-Z. The God MC. The greatest rapper of all time. Ever.

What’d he do? He let us know just how good he is.

Hov hopped in a Twitter Space with Alicia Keys earlier this week and was asked about the potential of him doing a “Verzuz” battle. For those of us who don’t know, “Verzuz” is an online platform where artists from across genres get together and play music against each other in a quasi competition.

It’s not really competitive — it’s all in fun. But it’s nice to talk about who would give who a good run.

Jay-Z set the internet ablaze by saying there was no one out there who could compete with him.

Honestly? He’s not wrong. Jay-Z is pretty untouchable on most accounts. But while Jay might be untouchable, though, that doesn’t mean he can’t do a Verzuz. Someone just has to be willing to lose. And losing can be fun!

So here are some people who might make the loss a great time at the very least.

Eminem says ‘(expletive) Drew Brees’ in new song with Kid Cudi

It’s from “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.”

Eminem and Kid Cudi collaborated on a new track that dropped on Friday called The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady, which includes lyrics about “prayers to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.”

It also has Eminem ripping Drew Brees, which comes not long after the New Orleans Saints quarterback saying in June he “will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.”

That led protesters in New Orleans yelling “(EXPLETIVE) Drew Brees!” which is exactly what Eminem raps, even after Brees apologized for his comments.

Here are the lyrics from Enimem’s verse:

Purp nor lean, that’s Tunechi

That’s New Orleans, (expletive) Drew Brees
